My fault for not asking their service fees before beginning. But I wish they also would have told me their costs before I began.
Forget getting any money back this year because I spent it all on them just doing it for me.
Marty was a wonderful woman and very helpful, but I wish she walked me through their service fee process before we continued.

I got my taxes done today by Albina Lumetta. My appointment was at noon but it didn’t start till about 12:20 because she was with another client. I didn’t mind. She was so sweet and made me feel very comfortable, being my first time getting my taxes done. She walked me through the whole process and my return was a lot more than I was anticipating! I will definitely be back next year :)

Mickey was so sweet and helpful! My return was done quickly and efficiently. Definitely recommend them!

Best staff ever! My second year filing on my own, still unsure how to file. Chris at the front desk was really friendly. As i met with Mickey who was amazing! She made sure I understood every step of the process. Left the building with mostly everyone remembering my name! Definitely going back. Oh, thanks for the coffee as well!

If you want your taxes done, EVER, this is not the place for you! If you expect a minimum level of customer service, RUN! Shannon, their supposed «District Manager» is extremely unprofessional. Clearly she was briefed on our 3 month struggle to get our taxes done. Instead of being professional, taking accountability and apologizing for mistakes made, when we first met she came out of her cubicle with crumbs all over her face, shirt and hands because of the taco she just ate. Yep, regardless she tried to shake my hand. This woman couldn’t have been ruder. I will now refer to her in this post as «Taco Shannon.»
It is June 23^rd, our taxes were supposed to be done April 15^th, and we still don’t have them. The lady in charge of business taxes in this office was given our information in plenty of time to finish our taxes. After numerous calls to get a status on our taxes, at 3pm on April 15^th she told us she was filing an extension. In addition, she told us we had to get all of our own vouchers together and send them out that night. This was with no warning.
Long story short after 2 months we were told our taxes were ready and I went into the office expecting I could take them home to review. We have been customers of H&R Block for 8 years, and have always had a chance to review our taxes before we have paid for them. Thank goodness I was adamant about taking them home before I paid for them this year. Of course, they were riddled with errors and we found numerous ways in which we could save ourselves money. We started to email them repeatedly for the next month asking when these errors could be addressed and fixed.
Finally 3 and a half months after they were supposed to be finished, after countless unanswered emails, we got an email that they were done. Please note that we are not entirely sure that our taxes are done because our questions regarding a loss carry back and capital gains treatment were never answered by them during the 2 months of repeated emails we sent them. Again, due to a lack of confidence, I wanted to take them home to review and was told to talk to «Taco Shannon.» Once I explained our situation to «Taco Shannon» did I get an apology? Did I get an acknowledgement that yes after our taxes are 3 and a half months late and incorrectly done 2 times that yes she could understand why I might want to review them again? NO!!! In fact, she couldn’t have been RUDER! She wanted the incorrect tax returns back before she would even consider trying to help us! WHY? Who knows it’s now like we could file them because they were INCORRECT! «Taco Shannon» clearly doesn’t understand that my husband works during the week and can’t sit in a cubicle during the 2 days a week when they are open with limited hours to review their shoddy work. What a joke. Our taxes are extremely complicated and we have always been given the opportunity to review them before paying! Seriously «Taco Shannon» needs to take a customer service class because this woman clearly doesn’t value H & R Block customers that have been with them for 8 years. Supposedly our taxes are done, well that’s what they are telling us, but «Taco Shannon» after everything above won’t let us review them before paying! I mean, do you blame us? I suggested we part ways as clients, and she agreed. I told her I would write a truthful Unilocal review. She said she couldn’t care less. SO here it is! «Taco Shannon» eat your heart out!
Yep, H & R Block will hear all about «Taco Shannon» and all of their supposed tax consultants.
RUN! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

Brought my tax return to have an amended return completed, so 95% of the work was done, after waiting a week picked up paperwork. Couple of days later we came back since we found 5 errors! Sitting at this person’s desk for over an hour while the errors were corrected. As it turns out this was a big mistake going to this location and person. We knew more than this person did. I would strongly advise doing your return yourself. Use turbo tax, less headaches. Also, at first we were quoted one price, then charged almost double, requested a break down on how this charge was computed, forget it!

Tried charging $ 325 for 30 minute meet (was also 15 minutes late and took a call mid consultation). Beware of this branch!

We have gone to Don for two years and he is amazing. He has found lots of money for us over the years, if we weren’t moving to ma we’d continue going to him every year. Highly recommended.

I think quality of HR Block varies by office.
I wen to HR in the Bay Area last year and had an excellent experience, so I decided to try this office. First, I was kept waiting 10 minutes after my appointment time, although I was there on time, then told they had a computer problem and did not know when it would be back up. That, combined with high fees and other poor reviews on Unilocal lead me to look elsewhere. I suggest you do too.

I had a 20 minute meeting with a «tax professional» to discuss/​file my 2011 taxes. After about 5 minutes it became clear that, 1) I knew more about tax preparation than the woman I was meeting with and, 2) she was giving me VERY incorrect information which would have led to big trouble down the line. The last 15 minutes of our discussion consisted of me trying to politely leave, trying not to be rude as I asked for all of my documents back and explaining that high income is not necessarily a «problem», as she matter-​of– factly referred to it.
I have prepared my taxes myself every year and was looking for a little professional guidance this year, I made a mistake looking for it at H&R Block.

Thinking about doing my 2011 taxes has reminded me of what a bad experience I had at H&R Block last year.
Expect to pay more than advertised.
I know they call themselves «tax professionals» which leads me to believe they have some kind of schooling, but the woman who prepared my taxes there was a total idiot. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s hard to be sympathetic when you pay over $ 200 for a very simple tax return.
I felt like I had to explain relatively simple concepts, like stock splits, to the woman doing my taxes. The appointment took about a half hour longer than I’ve ever had to spend doing taxes before.
If you have a complicated tax return, spend the money and hire a professional. Otherwise, just use TurboTax. H&R Block is a total waste of time and money.
