This review is for lunch. They have a great lunch special for 9.95 that includes quite a lot. There are several choices for the main dish, then you get really great soup, a salad(which was not great– iceberg lettuce with some bright yellow dressing), rice, 2 fried egg rolls and 2 won tons. I asked for my dish to be a «6» on the spicy scale since I’d never been there and wasn’t sure how spicy they cook. It was pretty mild. Next time I’ll ask for 8. I had the chicken with cashews and it was good but not the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The service was very friendly and fast the décor is basic diner style, nothing fancy and there area only views of parking lots so It’s definitely not about the ambiance. I gave them 4 stars because the lunch special is such a great deal. Next time I’ll try a different dish. Oh and skip the wine…$ 10 for a little glass of Clos du Bois Chardonnay. A bottle at Von’s is $ 7.99. I get they need to make a profit but geez.

Thai Lotus has been a local go to for Thai food for many years now. It’s located right off the freeway, they have ample parking so don’t be deceived about coming to the village, you won’t have a problem parking here. Most tables are set alongside windows so you don’t feel claustrophobic, service is prompt and the food is great! I love a good Thai iced tea and their eggplant. It comes with the super yummy sauce and sprinkled with basil and pine nuts. You can add meat but I think it’s fantastic on its own. The noodle dishes are very good as well, of course the Pad Thai, is a classic and done nicely. Enjoy!

I am a repeat customer of this place and LOVE the food. The service is great and friendly and the food itself is just great. I have to go there at least once every couple of weeks to get my fix of Pineapple Curry and Hawaiiin Fried Rice! Love it

so disappointing tonight. my man and i frequent this place for takeout, about once every week or so, its always been spot on… until tonight. i called put the order in, got home and started eating and everything was off, cashews burnt, the«spring rolls» that are usually tiny and delicious were oversized egg rolls that were disgusting. The peanut sauce was off. Everything was MEH! Upset a 50 $ dinner was absolutely a waste. :(

Unfortunately, I am writing this review as I own restaurants and I am not a huge fan of Unilocal. However, this review is necessary as I have tried to take what has become a common occurrence at the restaurant up with the manager and he was as rude as I have ever experienced. Let me start by saying I was eating here at least ONCE each week but most of the times TWICE. I have spent so much money with this place over the years it is insane! However, the new Manager who states arrogantly that he has been friends with the family for over 20 years doesn’t care about loyalty and would rather talk over someone than treat them with respect. I have never experienced someone this rude in any restaurant, anywhere! The past 6 to 8 months has been a challenge as most of the orders are incorrect and the quality has gone downhill. I used to rave about this place to anyone and everyone but I can no longer recommend this place in good conscience. Their quality is inconsistent and I know several of the employees have left due to poor management. A good manager would listen to customers and attempt to change what is a deteriorating restaurant. This manager chooses to berate customers which explains why they continue to struggle. I won’t go into detail on how rude the manager was as it is not worth anyone’s time. I now choose to make the trip to Bangkok-Bay in Solana as it is worth the drive and they are as consistent as it get’s.

Great food and wonderful service! It’s my 2nd time here and will keep coming back. Amazing sauces and you have to the mango sticky rice for desert! They use Asian mangoes with little or no fiber and they’re so sweet. I had the mixed vegetables with curry and mock duck even though I m not a vegetarian and loved it!

The soup here is good, I always judge Thai restaurants based on their soup. This is a go to restaurant for take out for me.

OK I understand price increases(lunch special up over 20%) $ 2.50 for a can of soda is too high but $ 3.50 for ice tea! That’s just wrong.

Food is amazing, ambience and décor is hideous. Service is OK… understaffed. This is strictly a place to go just for the food-better yet get takeout(and do it during lunch-alot cheaper).

It’s been a while since my original review and I have to scale it back further. I found a couple of very good Thai places in North County in the meantime and this one isn’t one of them. The taste is pretty bland. You have to pay extra for any kind of rice and the prices are already steep for what you get. They don’t offer Massaman curry(only as a shrimp version) but if you order it with chicken you still get charged the price for shrimp? The interior décor is not very convincing either and I have been disappointed pretty much every time I go. So just Meh.

Slow service and somewhat pricey. But tastier than the cheap Thai place by my work and with more variety in dishes, too. I’m coming back, but maybe not going to order as many appetizers. The only real disappointment was the Thai tea. It was almost half milk, too much!

Definitely a hole in the wall which is often a good thing. Not really here. The seating is uncomfortable because they use those standard old black restaurant chairs with hard cushions. I ordered the green curry with chicken and add vegetables level 5. It tastes like coconut milk and starch. I can barely taste the curry and the spice is hardly there. They also give you a tiny serving of rice and the service was definitely lacking. She plopped my food on the table and didn’t return to ask how anything was until I was almost done. I was one of three parties there. Will not be returning. I’ve had so much better.

I Love this place. I usually order during lunch time. I love how they add egg rolls along with the meal.

Good place to hang out with colleagues and friends. Thai style food at reasonable price especially for lunch special. I loved the roasted duck pad Thai with spicy level of 5. Next time I’ll try 10!

Skip the curries and stick to the noodles. The stir fry had a great flavor but the curries were so-so(panang and green), as well as the Tom Kha Kai soup. The chicken is pre-prepared and then dropped in, making for overdone chicken nugs. It’s a big place that can accommodate large groups. Nothing else to be said.

The food isn’t as spicy as we thought if would be. But it is really tasty. Server was cute, but wasn’t attentive even though there were 3 parties total in there. Parking is easy which is a plus for Carlsbad beach area and price is fair. Service though needs work and maybe a spice of ten should be a bit more than what we got

In love with their lunch special. As you already know, whenever I order thai food, I always get the exact same thing: pork panang curry. Lotus Thai is moderately priced and their food quality is tops — totally should’ve went here instead of BKK thai when I was Unilocaling thai food spots a close driving distance away from my office for lunch last week. The cuts of meat are juicy, the curry sauce is tasty, the salad and thai dressing, thai soup, eggrolls, and dumplings that all come with the lunch special are filling and a great value! –civilities.

Lotus Thai Bistro is an above-average Thai restaurant with fine food and a lightening fast kitchen. Seriously — I feel like I ordered, I took a sip of water, and before my glass hit the table my lunch was served. They have excellent lunch specials, and this is a great restaurant for an informal business meal, especially if time is short. The Lotus Thai Bistro location is odd — it is behind and sorta below(in a split level ranch kind of way) a sushi restaurant, with some office and medical office in the mix as well. And what’s with the Do Not Enter/Severe Tire Damage on the North side driveway so cars don’t come in the wrong way? Dang, Dog — I get it — I won’t come in that way. Spikes and tire damage seem a little excessive. What’s next — a couple of irritable Dobermans if you park in a reserved space? On my most recent visit, I had the panang curry with roasted duck and it was great. The duck was cooked perfectly, the curry was full of flavor with the heat was well calibrated exactly as requested, and I appreciated the spring rolls and dumplings on the side. I even ate the slice of orange served as a garnish. Did I mention how much I enjoyed the duck? So good.
