Took her time found out exactly what I did with my hair on a daily basis and I have a haircut that I can honestly manage well after my first styling

I was referred to Amanda at Pistachio cut and color by a friend. I was unsure about coloring after years of damage from harsh chemicals wreaked havoc on my hair, but unfortunately my natural color just doesn’t do much for me. I was feeling tired looking and blah and just needed a boost to my appearance. Amanda immediately put me at ease and assured me that Aveda products would not damage my hair. She was knowledgeable, professional and fun! Most importantly, my hair turned out AMAZING!!! There are no bleeds or orange patchy spots like in the past! I left feeling pampered, fresh and beautiful! I will definitely be coming back and referring friends! I can’t rave enough about my new look! 5 stars!!!

My daughter got her hair done by Steve. She’s very happy with her new haircut. And I’m very happy that Steve did a great job. Everyone’s at the salon were very friendly and helpful. 5 stars!

Blyss is an amazing hair stylist! She does great color. I am blonde and get highlights and a cut. She always makes me look great. Do yourself a favor and go see her.

I just got my hair done by Amanda and she is amazing! I’m so picky about my blonde hair and she smashed it out of the park. She did such a fabulous job on my hair. So lucky to have been able to meet her! She just made a new forever client! Thank you so much Amanda for doing such a great job on my hair and in the short time that we had to do it in! It looks so nice and feels amazing. I especially loved the warmed moist towel wrapped around my head after the shampoo and then to top it off the hand massage, I was in heaven!

I’ve been to Pistachico a couple of times and had no problems with, Casey, the hairstylist that was doing my hair until yesterday. I went into her to get a haircut and told her I only wanted a couple inches off and to reshape the hair around my face because of my split ends. While I was getting my haircut I noticed she was going kind of fast and cutting layers without telling me which concerned me but I let it go because I thought she knew what she was doing. Turns out she DIDNT know what she was doing! I’m a 17 year old girl so my hair means a lot to me and when I got home I realized how messed up my hair was. I CRIED FOR AN HOUR STRAIGHT. My hair was ruined and it looked like my little sister took a pair of sissors to my hair when I was sleeping. PLEASE DONT GO TO THIS SALON.
My mom called the next day to complain and to show the owner and manager the picture of my hair. They were embarrassed so they let me come in to have my hair fixed by someone else. I said okay because for 55 dollars that I paid them plus the 12 dollar tip I wanted to get my moneys worth (even though they should be paying me!!!)
I went in to get my hair fixed and the owner came up to me to «apologize». Which was super lame because she just brushed it off like it was my fault because the hair could’ve been behind my ears (which Casey should’ve known and fixed because that’s her freaking job!!). I was very upset that Casey didn’t get introuble for RUINING MY HAIR.
And get this… Casey ignores me when I come in to get my hair fixed (she has no integrity) and half way though she comes up and says: «sorry you don’t like your hair» DONT LIKE MY HAIR??? You ruined it!!!
I really hope someone is reading this because it’s a warning not to go to Pistachio. You can get a way better hair cut for $ 30 dollars rather than having your hair be ruined for $ 55.

Pistachio Cut and Color Bar is a gem of a salon, conveniently located in Carlsbad. It’s small yet has all of the amenities you’d expect from a larger establishment. The atmosphere is professional and friendly. Nori handles the front desk, with all its responsibilities, and is there for any question or concern the clients have during their treatment. Nothing is considered «not her job».
Today I had a color & cut by Chelsea. She has done my hair previously but did not assume that I would want the same treatment. Instead, she took the time to listen to me, ask about any changes and then described what she planned to do. I left the salon with exactly what I wanted.
Pistachio clearly strives to provide more than a service. I believe they want their clients to enjoy the experience of their work. A few specific examples: the salon is clean, no hair waiting to be swept up, the laundry is done and folded out of sight and the employees not with a client aren’t sitting around gossiping or talking on their phone.
I highly recommend trying this salon.

Pamela is amazing with extensions. I’ve had them done at other locations and the quality of hair and tape is amazing at pistachio I had trouble in the past with extensions not staying in, but pamela took the time to explain the care and I’ve had the extension replaced every 6 – 8 weeks, I just love them, and lucy is an amazing colorist, I’m very picky about my brown hair. I like more of a rich milk chocolate color and it came out beautiful. The one thing I love about this salon, besides the aveda products is Nori’s sense of humor and the welcome I get when I come in. 5* I wish I could give more stars. Oh and I can’t forget to mention alley, she is the sweetest girl and gives the best shampoos and blow outs, she takes her time to make Sure I’m satisfied. I love all girls and highly recommend all my friends and family! Love you pistachio!

I know, I know… I’ve already given a good review, and since I pride myself on honesty, I won’t take it back because it was a really good color experience with this Aveda Salon.
But — and this is a really BIG BUT! I dropped in on a whim for a haircut after talking myself into the reality that my hair really was too long and shapeless for a «a woman my age» (as my sister put it… thanks sis!) So I came in with no appointment and was told that Erica could do my cut and that she «was very good and I could trust her for a great cut», or something like that. So I put myself in the hands of someone I had never used before for this «great cut». She had curly hair, I have curly hair. She seemed to understand naturally curly hair and it’s special needs. For some reason she decided to cut my hair dry — have never had that done in my (ahem…) 60 years, but okay, she’s the expert right? R-​i-​g-​h-​t…
I told her I wanted to still be able to pull my hair back into a ponytail, I didn’t want layers, no bangs, just basically lose some length. We could always cut more later if I decided I wanted to. Be conservative. So why oh why in the name of all that is holy did she essentially take the top third of my hair and cut it off at my ears in one ragged and unshaped chunk, while the rest of my hair was collarbone length. It was like a 4 year old had gotten a pair of scissors and cut my hair in my sleep! In fact, that’s exactly what it looks like come to think of it! I went back for a redo and Tatiana, bless her heart, tried her best, but let’s face it, once hair has been cut off you can’t do anything to put it back. She said, «Erica must have had a bad day.» Yah think?!! Tatiana looked at the chop shop job done to my noggin, and seemed very confused and quizzical trying to figure out exactly why chunks were gone in weird places. Yeah — know how you feel Tat! I’m scratchin’ my head over that one. To their credit they gave me a credit… I’d rather have my hair back thank you very much. Sooooo — — now I’m looking for a master stylist who enjoys a challenge to do something with the worst cut I’ve had in my entire life! Anyone?

I have been going to Lucy at Pistachio for over 2 years now and she dies an amazing job. She listens to what I want but instead of blindly just giving me what u want she talks me through it and gives me her professional advice. I have thick, course hair while is great can have some limitations. She understands this and also understands my lifestyle and is very honest about what the pros and cons are with the styles I choose. She is the owner and takes special care to train her new stylists directly with her. I have had the joy of being serviced (while not with color or cut but with shampoo or blow dry) with many of her students and they are very pleasant. A small business owner who cares enough to in training her employees on the ways and expectations of the salon is an A+ establishment– training costs profit and small businesses do not make oodles of profit.
Regarding the reviewer/​the gal who complained about her extensions beware. I looked at her other reviews. Her profile said she joined Unilocal 6÷15− she has had 2 posts in 3 months with 1 star and BOTH are reviewing hair extensions gone awry. Something tells me it may be user error not stylist error.
Anyways, definitely try Pistachio out– they really are very good.

Lucy, have more care for the reviews left about your low class salon as I wrote my reiew 27 days ago. as you recall I had asked for proof that the hair was real and you never provided me. proof on that or on the lprice you bought the hair for, I blame myself for this as it is clear to me that you only wantes my. money and I should have checked more into it. second, The first time Ibhad washed my hair was 3 days after the extensions were put after I left Carlsbad and the USand it was only after then that Ibhad stayed in touch with your «stylist» pela on how to maintainy hair and the above phptps arenwhat happened on tje first day of washing my hair, so get the facts straighy, third, watch ur words and saying that I said things that I didn’t, watch it … third I have had real stylists re do my jair with 150 percent Hairdream extensions and they have told me that the shit u put in my hair was fake and that your pathetic hair stylist put the extensions wrong as they were put sideways instead of going with the flow of the hair. clearly she needs more training. So dont come to me with your pathetic excues of why ur salon should never even exsist. People deserve to know my opinion that your not honest individuals and dont have a clue about hair, just look at yours.

I have been to Pistachio 2 times. The services that I received between the 2 visits are haircut, blow dry, color, highlights and low lights. I am very impressed with the level of expertise and professionalism at this salon. My hair looks and feels awesome. I have gotten many compliments and inquiries as to where I go for hair salon services! Ali was my stylist on both visits. I am now a regular customer! Ali beams with positive energy and you can tell that she really has a passion for her work.

I needed a haircut so I called up Pistachio cut & color because they are located so close to me. They were able to schedule me in right away, which was great considering the state of my hair. Upon arrival the very kind receptionist greeted me & offered me something to drink while I waited (briefly) for my stylist. Pamela, the stylist was very welcoming & she began by asking what I wanted to have done. I had really long hair when I came in for the cut (almost down to my rear) & I wanted it to be cut a little past my shoulders. Pamela made me feel really great because a person with long hair about to go to shoulder-​length is a big deal. She double & triple checked with me if I was sure I was okay with her cutting off so much of my hair. It made me feel comforted to know that she was very considerate of my decision & feelings! The shampoo & conditioning was great & they use quality natural products which is a big deal for me as I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I ended up buying a shampoo, conditioner & thermal protectant at the end :)
The cut was amazing! Pamela & I really hit it off & she did such an amazing job. I can confidently say that I have never gotten a better haircut in my life than the one I received from Pamela! Thank you to Pistachio cut & color bar staff & thank you so much to the amazing Pamela! I will definitely be back when I need a trim in a few months!

I have been going here for a year and I absolutely love it ! Everyone here is so nice. Aleta is the best. She knows what I want and she takes her time. I was so nervous to let anyone touch my hair but I love everything she does every time I go in there. Good prices and super friendly. The environment is so welcoming. I will be coming here for as long as they are open. I wish I could give them more than five stars

So lucky to have been referred here 3 years ago when I was on vacation & had a «hair emergency.» Miraculously the owner had a cancelation and worked her magic before a formal event I had the next day. I have come back 2 – 3 times a year & let Aleta do her thing. I am the most anal, nervous, distrust in person about haircuts… b/​c can’t hit the «undo» button.
She’s good about listening to what I do & don’t want, as well as & commenting on or making suggestions. Ever time I leave here I think: «This is the best cut & color I’ve ever had.»
I book my flight, then call and make an appointment as soon as I know my arrival date.
