Kristin Moorehead is a wonderful therapist. A year ago, I was considering proposing to my boyfriend of 5.5 years. I thought he was totally on the same page as me, but was shocked to discover that he was actually having thoughts of breaking up with me. He said there were times where he felt like getting married, and times where he thought we weren’t a good fit and he had trouble imagining spending the rest of his life with me. We very nearly broke up one night when discussing all of this, and I really didn’t know what to do. I still felt like we had an amazing relationship and that it would be such a shame to throw it all away for no clear reason. We got along great, pretty much never got in fights, and we had been living together for over 2 years at that time with no issues. I asked him if he’d be willing to consider couples therapy with me and he said he would.
I had no idea how to find a good therapist, but I knew that who your therapist is can make all the difference. After finding all the exceedingly positive reviews for Kristin on Unilocal and Google, I finally settled on her as our first therapist. She was extremely booked, so we had a tough time getting our first appointment, but we were lucky enough to find a time to have a regular weekly appointment with her. She has been amazing for us. We have been seeing her for just over a year now and things are looking so much better for our relationship. We learned that the fact that we had no fights was actually a bad sign, and that we both had issues to work through in order to help our relationship. My boyfriend is extremely uncomfortable with conflict and emotions, we discovered, even though neither of us would have thought that before therapy. I learned that I am overly sensitive to my emotions at times, and can let them overwhelm me, causing me to lose sight of the facts. You can see why this combination would be problematic! He was always trying to avoid conflict with me because he feared me expressing my strong emotions, and therefore I was always led to believe that things were going just swimmingly between the two of us!
Over the past year, Kristin has worked with us both to help us identify when these things are happening, and to give us the tools to try to change this behavior in ourselves. Let me tell you, therapy is never easy. Changing your natural behaviors can feel impossible; I always just thought that I was born this way and it’s just the way I am. But if you are willing to do the work, you can truly change. It was not as fast of a process as I wanted it to be, I struggled with being impatient with our slow progress. (Another thing I needed to work on.) But here we are a year later, and I can honestly say I have seen significant progress in both of us. We are not all the way there (nor will we ever be, of course), and we have a lot more work to do in the short term still, but I think we are on a healthier, happier, and more genuine path now. My boyfriend has been asking for my ring size recently, and saying he is having trouble thinking of any good reasons why we shouldn’t be married now. This is completely thanks to the help of Kristin.
If I could do it again, I would pick Kristen and do it exactly the way that I did. She has helped us tremendously. Even if my boyfriend and I did not end up working out, I still believe the therapy would have been valuable to both of us. It is good to examine yourself and become more aware of your areas of difficulties. We all have them. And I think it is really valuable to learn how to cope with and change these behaviors if you decide you want to. This is a lifelong skill that I am developing, and will be giving back to me for the rest of my life. Because of that, I can’t think of many more worthwhile ways to spend your money. If you are scared and think there’s a chance therapy could help, I urge you to give it a try.

My husband and I have been going to Kristin Moorehead primarily for marriage/​communication counceling. She is very smart, real, funny, and helpful beyond words. Every time we see her, I leave with tools that help not only our marriage, but tools to help me in every day life. With my children, parents, you name it. She can see through anything and, doesn’t let you hide behind insecurities. My husband and I have a lot of work to do but I know we would not be making the progress we are without her. I look forward to every visit, knowing we will leave better off than we came in.
She also helped me with a personal issue I had discussed with other therapists. They were never able to relate or help me through it. One session with Kristin and I left feeling better than I had in 5 years.

Wow Im truly blessed to have met Kristin and have her help me though some heavy stuff. I learned more about myself and she gave me the tools to deal and cope with my struggles. After my first session i truly felt relieved and confident i could implement the skills she had shared with me. I have been seeing Kristen moorehead-​Malley for about 6 sessions and in those 6 sessions I have had more progress with her then I have in 10 years plus with my councilors from the VA so I suggest going and seeing her. She is very good at ehat she does and as long as you do the work also you will be successful

My wife and I went to see Bryne at Sage. It was very hard for me to want to open up all my personal feelings. From day one I was very confident that Bryne was the man for the job. He is very easy going and has a way of keeping both sides honest with themselves. Bryne also gave me a great set of tools to use when confronting a specific set of issues with my wife that I still use to this day. Even after I stopped going as a couple I continued to see Bryne by myself. I. Could not say enough great things about Bryne. My wife and I decided to talk to a therapist after we were unable to come to an agreement on whether or not to have additional children now. I talked to a few different therapists on the phone to get an idea of what to expect. One place said it would take a minimum of 6 sessions — some to get to know us, a session where just I went, a session where just my wife went, and then we would tackle any «issues.» We ended up going with Kristen after reading some great Unilocal reviews, so maybe this will help you too. Kristen jumped right into the issue and by the end of the hour she had equipped us with the tools we needed to work through our issue and come up with a game plan. She was very direct, which I thought was helpful. I was apprehensive about spending $ 150 just to «talk» with someone, but it turns out it was some of the best money I’ve ever spent. I certainly recommend her.

Kristin transformed my life forever. She’s incredibly insightful, honest, and caring. I love that she can call me out on my own BS. She taught me so much about myself, untangled so many things for me and I’ve never in my life felt so empowered. Just an unbelievably beautiful, inspiring person.

My husband and I came to Kristin, two years ago, with plenty of marriage and personal issues. My husband, who was a huge skeptic on any sort of counseling or talking about issues, finally agreed to go speak with Kristin. After the first visit, he was all in and ready to work on our marriage. She has helped me with my personal issues and confronting conversations, I would typically ignore and let build up. It has been a long road since the first year, but Kristin has helped us move past the petty bickering, helping speak more like adults to each other. We now communicate better and actually enjoy being in each others company.
I’m afraid to think what are life may look like if it was not for the many ways that Kristin has helped us. She is very sincere and honest and does not hold back when either of us are out of line, which is what my husband and I both need to hear. She is very knowledgable and easy to speak to.
Kristin also works well with our ever changing schedule. My husband is out of town for business a lot, and often does not know when he is going out of town until the day before, which makes scheduling very difficult. Kristin has always been very accommodating and easy with our hectic lifestyle and schedule changes.

I cannot recommend Kristin highly enough. I know without a doubt that my life, as well as the lives of all those around me, have benefited tremendously from my working with her. Kristen is kind, empathetic, has incredible insight, and best of all is no-​nonsense. She is easily able to point out how our thinking and behaviors have brought us to the place where we are.

It has taken me a very long time to write this review, because I didn’t think there was any way for me to be concise about how much help she’s given our family, so let me just say this: if you are looking for help, look no further than Kristen Moorehead. She’s just the best.

Prior to working with Kristen, I spent much of my life living in fear. Additionally, I consistently struggled with lack of self esteem which created many road blocks for my intimate relationships. The issues which all stemmed from my past, was paving the road ahead of me… And I wasn’t in the driver’s seat.
Over the last 5 – 6 years, I have gone through many therapists. None of which offered me any solutions leaving me without hope.
I decided to try just one more therapist hoping and preying that somehow I would stubble across someone who knew how to deal with the issues I was facing. Luckily, I came across Kristen!
From the first session I can honestly say, I feel more connected to both myself and the world around me. Not only am I connected and present, more importantly… For the first time in my life, I love who I am and have realized that my past does not have to determine my future. My wife and I decided to seek marriage counseling due to many issues that had come up in our marriage. So we scheduled an appointment to meet Kristin. Our first appointment was uneventful, we told her our names and a broad description of where we were in our marriage. Two weeks later we came in for our second visit. This is where things went bad. After talking for about 15mins about broad issues, she then narrowed in on an event where I had not said Happy Birthday to my 6 year old son on his birthday. I explained that I had wished him Happy Birthday at his School Party, at our Family party, and at a Friend’s party we had thrown for him the night before. Having wished him a Happy Birthday multiple times I didn’t see the need for an additional Happy Birthday on my way out the door early in the morning. She kept harping on this for 25 minutes telling me that it was poor behavior and that it was well outside of social norms. She said that there was something wrong with me and that I probably have damage from my childhood. She said that I was now causing physiological damage to my child. My wife was excited and agreeing with her. About 25mins into the barrage I finally lost it and began to cry. I asked her to stop talking about the issue but she continued at it for an additional 20mins. At the end of the hour appointment I was still crying. She then said she doesn’t care about Birthdays and that the discussion had nothing to do with Birthdays, but it was a test to see how I act when I get upset. She then raised her hands above her head and said «Yay what a great session,» with complete and total disregard for the guy still crying on the couch. I was looking for marriage counseling. I trusted that she would be acting as a fair moderator for marriage counseling. Instead we got something completely different. Now my wife feels validated and we have more issues than ever. What a mess.

After 30+ years of ignoring some fundamental issues in my life, I finally reached a tipping point last year where I was completely overwhelmed by life. I knew I needed to get help but I didn’t really have any idea of how to find a good therapist. I went to see Bryne Griffey after the death of my mom. He has helped me to work my way through that dark period and now I’m breaking through to a much better state of mind.
I also was recently divorced (what a year!) and Bryne was extremely helpful with that process that as well. It has been hard work but definitely worth it.

Bryne Griffey has supported my family through some extremely challenging times. He is exceptional! He has worked with both of my younger sons — and with my youngest for several years now. He has shared expert information, insight, experience and wisdom compassionately with us. We trust him, rely on him and enjoy talking with him.
My 12 year old son has a mood disorder with explosive episodes, ADD and issues related to having parents who separated due his dad’s drug addiction and alcoholism. Bryne consistently motivates my son and shares coping tools that have helped him be happy and successful. When my sons’ father died unexpectedly last summer, Bryne was able again to provide perspective, listen and help them problem solve. We consider him a treasure and highly recommend him.

I located Kristin for my daughters about two years ago with a Google search. When I called her to see if she might be the right person, I knew instantly that she was the one. Kristin is extremely smart, warm, compassionate and relevant. She made a new person out of my 28 year old daughter and I will be forever grateful to her for that. Kristin is one of the rare therapists that is passionate about what she does and does it extremely well… she truly has a gift. She has helped me navigate through some very turbulent waters. Kristin is very easy to open up to and the wisdom of her professional experience, life experience and natural talent is unparalleled. There simply is no one better. I would give her 10 stars if I could!
