History

Established in 2011.

Shear Karma was founded by hairstylist/​owner Sharla Fagan. She wanted to create a positive environment for customers to be able to step away from the daily stresses of life and get pampered. Being a single mom, she knows how important it is to take care of yourself. She believes in order for you to take care of others, you need to take care of yourself first. When you look good on the outside, you feel good about yourself on the inside. In return, you take that happiness back to your work and home.

We only use the highest quality eco-​friendly, organic products and strive on being a green conscious salon.

Shear Karma also has a «Giving Back» program by donating a portion of product and service proceeds to local charity organizations that focuses on women, children and families.

Shear Karma’s motto is to help create good karma within ourselves, locally and globally.

Sharla is the ONLY person to cut my hair here in North Country since I moved back 15 years ago. She’s as good as it gets. Not only does she have great technique, she is an expert with earth-​friendly hair products.
I’m in my car for an hour when I drive to her shop now. It’s worth every minute.
Her success revolves around the fact she really cares about people and goes overboard to please. You won’t go wrong booking an appointment with her and you’ll probably be a client for life.

Sharla is amazing! I have been in once to her for color and lowlights. I loved the colors she chose! My hair was really shiney and soft for a month now. Usually the shine is lost with in about 2 weeks. She uses a «green» products, and her salon is «green» as well… I am so excited because I am seeing her next week for a cut and color. Because my hair is super curly, fragile and doesn’t grow fast. Needless to say, it is hard for me to trust anyone for a cut. I showed her a photo of what I would like my hair to look like and she feels she can give me the style. Can’t wait!

I purchased a groupon for a cut and style a while back and made an appointment with Sharla. She is awesome! She did a consult with me and really listened to what I said. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I went back for a color consult and again she was right on. I love my cut and my color and plan on being a long term client. The salon itself is in a great location, easily accessible and very tastefully decorated. Groupon and Living Social both often offer deals at this salon so grab a deal, support your local business and enjoy the awesomeness of Shear Karma! Definitely no more Super Cuts for me! :0)

Came in based on a Living Social deal but will definitely be back based on my experience! I had been growing out a pixie cut for two years and decided to cut it. Melissa was great! She gave me suggestions while listening to what I wanted. Sharla was also great! From the first phone call to walking out with a cute pixie, I am hooked. Thx ladies!!!

I bought a Living Social deal to try this salon out. My last two experiences at small local salons were terrible, so I was a little nervous. I got a haircut and partial highlights. Melinda was my stylist, and I could not be happier. My cut is perfect, and my highlights are just beautiful. I told a friend I was going to send Melinda flowers because 3 different people commented that I looked younger that afternoon! Very happy with the service and the salon. I’ll be back for sure.

Stumbled upon this lovely shop after browsing living social. I came in first to get a better feel of the place and for a quick consultation. I was immediately greeted by Sharla who was very nice and helpful. Since then I had been in twice for a bayalage (lighten up and trim) I have had the pleasure of Melinda and Sharla doing my hair. Both great and talented hairstylist! The studio is in Carlsbad village and is such a cute shop with a very relaxing vibe. They use very good quality organic products and are excellent in customer service and making sure your hair needs are of priority. Prices is beyond reasonable. highly recommend this place for any hair need/​style!
Sharla also did a great blowout/​style on my thick hair that I would even want to stop back in for a quick hair style when needed!

Sharla is an incredible stylist. Not only has she been in all aspects of the business, she believes in her products. I first came to her after having a Living Social coupon. I get the organic color. Recently, we threw in a few extensions and I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted, and she was like, no problem. She is very concerned about the client’s happiness and always says, if something ever bothers you when you get home, please call me and come back. I like that about her. She is a very sweet person at heart and her salon is really elegant. Great location just off the 5, plenty of parking. I have not had anyone else, but I can’t imagine her hiring/​keeping anyone she didn’t believe in as a stylist. You will have a great experience here.

First time at this salon. Bought a voucher offered through Amazon Local. The salon is about 40mins from my home, but the trip was well worth it. I had a great experience with Sharla. The salon is well situated, clean and quiet with easy parking. Sharla conducted a through consultation before cutting my hair. I trusted her opinion and she did a wonderful job! I’ve booked my next appointment and will definitely recommend this salon to others.

I went to this salon when I bought voucher for a cut and color from living social, the staff was friendly. I came with dark hair wanting to go lighter we picked a color that was best suited for my skin color but the out come came out looking like when I first walked in the hair cut was ok but the color was not what I wanted and they offer to do the color again for a discounted price. I was shocked that they were gonna charge me for them not giving me the outcome that I wanted. it felt like a waste of money.

I bought a deal for this salon in Living Social because my hairdresser got sick and backed out on me at the last minute. I went ahead and just hope it will turn out as I need a new look plus I am going to Vegas for the weekend!
Melinda is great: she did my hair just the way I wanted it!!! Sharla was great too accommodating me on a late evening appointment.
Definitely, they have a regular customer in me.

Sharla is an incredible stylist and business owner. She makes great color recommendations, especially for red-​heads. My first visit was booked with a stylist that did not measure up to the professionalism and passion exhibited in the other stylists at Shear Karma. I unfortunately did not speak up about my concerns at the time and I left unhappy. My first review was solely on the experience with the stylist – not the salon. I’ve been informed since that the stylist is no longer with Shear Karma.
Sharla listened to my concerns and reached out to me to remedy the experience. It is rare that a business owner goes to such lengths to make sure every single client is 100% happy. I am very excited to return to Shear Karma and see everything Shear Karma truly has to offer.

Melinda did my cut. She really listed to me and offered her advice and professional opinion on pictures I wanted for my hair type. I really like when a stylist offers their professional opinion in regard to your hair type and the cut you want. I am super happy with my cut!
