If you are up near the Village of West Clay, you should stop in. They make some great house beers and have taps available for other craft breweries. Very open and inviting bar. Best part ladies is the hooks under the bar and outlets! Seriously, something little like this makes me want to come back. Beers were delish. Opted for a sampler of 4 beers, focusing on IPA’s, browns, and/or porters.

Beer was good. I like the atmosphere. $ 6 for a house brew pint? $ 14 for nachos the size of a dinner plate? I was expecting a huge plate of nachos to share and was surprised at the small portion and lack of cheese and other toppings. There were maybe 5 jalapeños, Pico was almost non existent. Pizza was good and reasonably priced. If we lived in the neighborhood we would be back but we aren’t likely to make the trip again unfortunately.

I finally got a chance to try Danny Boy. I had a flight of several beers that were all delicious. I also had a ½ pound of bacon and chicken nachos. The bacon was delicious and can easily be shared with several people.

So I’m WAY overdue for a review for Danny Boy. I first visited this brewery just a few months after it opened in March 2015. I didn’t know that, because they functioned so well during the event in which I participated. Fast forward 9 months, and I finally visited again to review their Milk Stout offering. First, that milk stout, «Take me to ‘Church’,» is amazing. The nitro pour is extremely smooth, and the brew itself is very repeatable. On this visit I also learned that they serve food. We ordered the cheese and olive board and a flatbread pizza. The cheese board is fairly basic but massive and tasty. The flatbread was incredible. This is an excellent stop if you want lunch, dinner, a growler, or a pint. The neighborhood might be a little confusing, but you’ll be happy you took the time to figure it out.

Other than being way off the beaten path for us(all the way up in West Clay), Danny Boy was a great bar with a cool atmosphere and delicious food. In addition to Danny Boy brews, the bar had many other taps(somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 beers altogether between the Danny Boy beers and the others). They have the tap list on a TV screen that scrolls through, so I got the impression they’re able to keep it updated easily. The Danny Boy beers I had were all good — crisp tasting and typical of their styles. The food was very good as well. They have a sandwich option called a baco that is basically a puffed up flatbread with the sandwich fixings inside. I had the pulled pork version of a bacco and it was delicious but extremely spicy for me because of all of the jalapenos. Still, the flavor was really good and thebread was warm, toasty and buttery. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak baco and he enjoyed that permutation of the sandwich as well(though it was not very much like an actual Philly cheesesteak, rather than a very loose take on it – still well done and worth getting a second time). We were struck by how hot and fresh all of the food tasted. The feel of this bar is very industrial. Lots of metal and exposed duct work and what not. They also had garage doors on at least two of the walls that were open for the nice weather. My only complaint about Danny Boy is the bathroom situation. The bathrooms are just two single one-person bathrooms, but they’re unisex so by 10 p.m. on a Saturday night they were getting kind of gross. Not ideal. I’d rather have one relatively clean ladies’ room than a choice of two bathrooms with the toilet seats up.

Much better experience this time. Great upbeat staff! Everyone is having a great time. And the Dropkick Murphys on the sound system make it even better!

This post is delayed. Was there a few months back. Maybe it was too painful to wrote. What a tragedy such a beautiful place with sub-par food. The Pizza dough was like pillsbury biscuit dough. Completely tasteless. And the waiter said pizza was their signature. Really? With Greeks across the street and other pizza joints in close proximity, if you say that, it better be true. Another couple was also railing on them about the lack of healthful options as a missed opportunity 2 stars for the ambiance. And the beer was ok too but I don’t think I would ever go back.

I had been wanting to visit here since it opened and on a Saturday evening we decided to go and I’m glad we did. Me on the way there… «Umm. Is this right? We are in a quiet dark subdivision out here. Oh, I think that’s it.» Ok. So this place is not where you expected and a bit difficult to find, but once you find it, it’s all positive from there. As soon as we walked in, I had a good vibe and was impressed. It has an industrial feel and a lot of stainless steel. The brewing area is visible and very sleek. Plenty of tvs adorn the walls, all on different sports. I had the Black IPA and it was good and very smooth. Definitely one of the best beers I’ve ever had. My boyfriend had Rock-n-Rolla, which is an imperial IPA, and it was good as well. The bartender mentioned it was one of their best sellers. They offer complimentary samples and all of their current taps(and guest taps) are on a rolling tv screen behind the bar. Pints are $ 5. The food menu is fantastic and appropriately priced. We ordered the appetizer of two pub pretzels with dipping sauces of beer cheese and spicy mustard. They were delicious and complimented the pretzels very well. We sat at the bar and after watching all of the food and pizzas come out of the kitchen and go past us, I made a self reminder to get more food next time. The pizzas all looked delicious and ranged in price from $ 9 – 12. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. No issues with service at all, even though the inside and outside patio area were packed full and the bartenders were all clearly very busy. I will definitely return.

Impressive. They have about 30 beers on tap(both guest beers and their own brews) and the range of offerings is excellent. All high quality beers – Stone, North Coast(Old Rasputin on tap!) Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout, just to name a few of their guest taps. And their own brews were excellent as well. We had a sampler flight, and the bartender even gave us a few extra samples to try. The guys working there were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure hanging out there. The only thing I would change is the menu boards – they are digital screens that scroll thru all the beer options, one screen at a time. Since there are so many beers, it’ll take you a while to read through them all, and if you miss one, you have to wait till the program goes back to that screen. Kind of hard to read and remember it all, but I’m guessing it’s because they probably change the beers regularly. In any case, the upside is that Danny Boy may be rotating its taps on a regular basis, which means it’ll be bringing in even more quality beers to try. It’s a real surprise to find such a great beer place in the middle of Camazotz, but hey, at least Pizzology is nearby too. And you can wander the streets and pretend you’re in a movie set full of Stepford alien zombies, only to escape into the surprising refuge of Danny Boy where real humans still exist.

Regardless of the fact that this hidden gem is tucked away in Indiana’s creepiest Pleasantville-ish neighborhood, Tank 13 is a fun establishment. Clean with friendly staff. My favorite aspect includes the large garage doors they can open when the weather in nice. This is the brew hub for Danny Boy Beer so I am definitely keeping this on my list to visit for out-of-towners. Can’t wait to come back and try some food!

Where are we? No, seriously. Where the hell is this place? The neighborhood surrounding Danny Boy is straight out of the Stepford Wives. I’ve never seen anything like it. My jaw dropped a foot in response to the perfectly manicured lawns, over-the-top neighborhood planning and general silence of the ‘hood. The tatted bartenders and brewers in Danny Boy are a far cry from its navy-khaki surroundings. I suppose it adds an interesting and slightly humorous contrast. Date night idea: have a few drinks at Danny Boy and go for a «tour de casas» walk. Okay, to the beer and our boy, Danny. This place is much more crisp and clean than I imagined(not in a bad way). The modern lighting fixtures and abundance of stainless steel give it a masculine feel. The bartender(whose name I wish I could remember) was super playful and fun to chat with — he handled our large group with ease. The food that was rolling out from the kitchen looked above your standard bar/brewery options. I’ll be certain to give it a try next time. As for the beer, I thoroughly enjoyed the stout and look forward to sampling more of their offerings next time.

In an Indiana with a craft brewery scene growing faster than a weed, it’s hard to tell whose beer is legit and whose came from a home-brew kit. Luckily, samples of Danny Boy’s APA, IPA, Black IPA, Scottish Strong, and Urban Wheat have made me realize that I shouldn’t always roll my eyes at yet another brewery in the greater Indy area. On the contrary, this is one worth checking out and enjoying a pint or two. With beers that have easy drinkability, balanced flavors, and hoppy aromas, all of the beers brewed by Danny Boy meet my expectations, and I believe other newer Indiana breweries should take note of what a good craft beer tastes like.

Surprisingly, there aren’t many craft brewery tap rooms in Carmel. That makes Danny Boy unique in that regard. It is a great hangout for beer lovers, with numerous pub tables and an industrial chic look. There are an insane number of beers with 10 – 12 house taps and another 25+ guest taps. While the staff is helpful and is more than willing to dish out 2 oz samples, the only menu is on a scrolling TV that shows 12 selections at time. It’s hard to keep track of them all while trying to figure out what to drink. It would be much easier to have them all together on the wall or on a physical menu. There is also little amounts of information available about the beer beyond name, brewery and ABV. The house beers taste good. I enjoyed the nitro porter and the nitro stout, both of which are creamy, smooth and dark. Definitely a lot of promise for both current and future brews. It’s worth the visit to try them. The service is questionable. The waitstaff seemed spread thin with only 2 waitresses on the floor and a bartender for a packed Friday night. The result was slow service and frazzled servers. We still got our orders in, but it took away from the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Danny Boy with the exception of the few things that I mentioned. I will surely make a return trip in the near future and hopefully they will work the kinks out soon. A little aside from my wife… try the Angry Orchard on tap there. She doesn’t know what they did differently, but she says that it tasted considerably better than anywhere else. She described as such, with a twinkle in her eye, «It’s like a sexy hot fireman(shirtless, with suspenders… of course) grabbed a bunch of apples off of a tree, injected them with alcohol, squeezed them into glasses, and delivered it to the table. BEST. ANGRYORCHARD. EVER!»

First impressions while driving to Danny Boy: Are we in the right place? Man, it’s dark out here in the suburbs! Holy crap did you see that house we just passed! Maybe I should have worn something nicer then flannel? Walking into Danny Boy: Impressive! Loved the architectural details: large Irish pub style doors, beer bottle lighting, large garage doors that will provide an indoor outdoor feel in warmer months, a large stone-top bar that goes on for miles, lots of shiny stainless steel, sexy looking fermentation tanks that want to be seen and can be seen. Beer is excellent! Loved the Danny Boy Black IPA& Boston Asphalt(Black IPA aged with Jameson Chips). I am not a huge Witbier drinker but the Miss Ginger Witte surprised me. I can see myself easy drinking that tasty beverage in the Summer. I admit, I felt the location was a little odd(at first) in the heart of Village of West Clay however, I love the sense of community. It makes me wish we could all have breweries, in our neighborhoods, in the suburbs. It would be a great way to get to know our neighbors or have those hard conversations. Hey Jim & Susie, we’ve been meaning to talk to you about your lawn gnome collection. It may be getting out of hand. Let’s meet over beers at our neighborhood brewery to discuss? First round is on me. I am sure that conversation would go much smoother. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They did a wonderful job opening night taking care of guests(they were packed). Can’t wait to come back on a normal night. Notes: Love the upper level where families with kids can hang out. Downstairs is for 21 and older. Food is available for purchase. Greeks Pizza(across the street) will deliver to Danny Boy. In warmer months the garage doors will open to provide pet-friendly patio seating. I agree with Ian B. the hard part is getting there but once your there you won’t want to leave.

You want some great beer? Great atmosphere and an awesome brewery? This is your spot! The building is a new construction on the corner of Rhettsbury & Meeting House Road in the Village of West Clay. It is an open industrial warehouse style building. 4 huge overhead doors open up to the nice downtown area with outdoor seating and music. The interior is very spacious with mostly high tops and bar seating. For family and relaxed dining the upper balcony is the place to be. You can overlook whats going on below or watch some TV while hanging out. The open ceiling and metal walls really give it a industrial feel! There are plenty of TV’s down here as well for all viewing angles. One really cool thing is you are actually sitting right next to the brewing equipment, and when the guys are there working you can watch them and chat directly with them. The food menu has not been set yet and the kitchen just opened so i cannot comment on that yet. will update once available. But if you do want something to eat while you are here Greeks Pizzeria is across the street and will take orders and deliver to Danny Boy. Lets talk about BEER! Originals, always on tap here and at Brockway Danny Boy Black IPA Training Day(APA) Mac Daddy(Scottish Ale) Ginger Witte(Urban Wheat) New/seasonal/specials Rock-n-Rolla(IPA) Danny Brau(American Amber) Boston Asphalt(this is the Black IPA infused with Jameson French Oak Chips) Danny Boy Imperial Red Ale Danny Boy IPA Firkin(Rock-n-Rolla infused with peach and raspberry) I will first have to say if you like a Black IPA, this is the best one in town, and i believe one of the first. Its amazing! If you are feeling extra special get the Boston Asphalt, great flavors! Training Day is my go to, never fails it will be good APA. The Rock-n-Rolla is brand new and amazing!!! Ginger Witte and Mac Daddy are also very good and very popular. Their are 10 Danny Boy taps and 30 guest taps with a great selection to choose from. You can’t go wrong here! you can get growlers filled and take home your favorite DB beer! The staff here is great and hard working. You can get personal tour of the brew portion of the building with insight on how it works and why they made the beers the way they did! If you do ever see Kevin(tall and bald) the owner, introduce yourself. He is a great guy and loves to talk about beer. He also owns Brockway Pub, where you can also always find Danny Boy beer on tap. So the only hard part is getting up to the place ;-) but once your there you won’t want to leave.

Danny Boy Beer Work’s tasting room just opened(the grand opening is this coming weekend from what one of the employees mentioned) but it looks like it’s going to be an amazing spot. I met a client here for drinks and once I navigated the confusing roundabouts and found the place(in the middle of a «planned development») I was impressed. The interior is great — industrial, for sure but very thoughtfully designed. I like the reused beer bottle light fixtures and the fact that the brewing equipment is featured prominently in the space — not behind glass or hidden away. They’ve got big roll-up garage doors which will make this place absolutely delightful on a warm day. On the ground floor, there’s space for about 90 and then there’s a smaller second floor with space for about 45. The upper level is intended to be more«family friendly» and would make a great place for a private event. In terms of beer, they’ve got 4 – 6 of their beers on tap at any time and more than 20 «guest taps» which range from Coors Light to Belgian Trippels. Craft beer lovers will be very happy here as the offerings are varied but high quality(except for the Coors Light which I assume is offered for people without taste buds). I went with their house Ginger Witte which was light, refreshing and very easy to drink. House beers are $ 5 for a pint and guest taps range from $ 7 – 8 depending on alcohol content. Wine is also available but for the moment, only by the bottle. I think that will change once they open up their full service kitchen. All of the employees we interacted with were really friendly, excited about their new space and happy to tell us what they’ve got planned for the future. It’s kind of an odd location(middle of a residential super-suburban area) but definitely a place worth checking out!
