Nako’s Alterations & Tailoring

Nake is extremely nice and excellent at sewing, but I’d recommend always calling ahead to make sure items are ready or making sure she knows you need something at a certain time. Also, be very specific about what you want and what you don’t want so you end up with something you’re happy with.

Went here to get a Coat tailored and loved it! Nako was great and loved her personality.

I chose this tailor based on the other two reviews, and expected competent work — but I was really disappointed. I knew not to expect the work to be done when she said it would be, but in fact the first time I checked in she had completely forgotten she had my coat. It took over 3 weeks of constant follow-​ups to get it back, just in time to pack it for travel. First time I wore it I discovered that she had not re-​closed the lining seams she had ripped open to do the alteration. And this is just odd: every time I went in, she asked me how much I had paid for the coat.

Very competent work. Nako is used by several local businesses as their alterations tailor, so she has to be good.
However, and unusually for a Japanese person, she’s not very good about delivering individuals’ orders on time (I imagine she’s more punctual for the businesses that are her main clients). If you need something altered by a specific date, ask for it to be ready a couple of weeks in advance: it probably won’t be ready when she said it would (tip: call before you go for a pick-​up; you’ll save yourself an unnecessary trip to Carmel).
Also, she’s expensive, so make sure to ask how much something will be before she starts ripping seams, pinning, and chalking.
Still, the quality of the work is excellent.

Very friendly service with quick and precise alterations. They ask a lot of questions to make sure that they are clear about what you want. Both ladies are pretty impressed if you speak any Japanese or Korean. :)
