We specialize in fine art. We carry paintings and sculpture from local Carmel artists as well as artists from all over the world. We carry some of the nations most exiting artists such as Ken Auster, Kevin Courter, Tae Park, Ariana Richards, Stephen Pan and Guido Frick. After being in business for thirty-​six years we have established a reputation of excellence and have amassed one of the best collections of fine art in the nation. We specialize in traditional, realistic works, mainly landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes and figurative.

History

Established in 1974.

New Masters Gallery was started by Bill and Jennifer Hill in 1974. The Hills migrated west from Illinois and happened upon the small art colony of Carmel, California and knew instantly that was where they wanted to make their home. After working a couple of years in a gallery Bill decided to go into business for himself and has since created one of the most important galleries on the west coast. New Masters Gallery has become a destination gallery for both artists and collectors who know they can depend on the gallery’s reputation for honesty and quality.

Business Owner

Bill Hill grew up in Urbana, Illinois working in the grocery business with his father and from a young age new he wanted to own his own business. After getting an MBA from the University of Illinois he visited his brother who was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey and he fell in love with the peninsula, and in particular Carmel. Since opening his gallery Bill has developed a keen sense and a great eye for good art and has helped develop and promote some of the nations most respected artists. He has brought some of the nations most exciting and important contemporary artists from obscurity up to the national stage.
