I was renting a property from another management company when Remax took over. I never once met or even talked to the Manager Carla. I always dealt with Jeni in the office. She was always quick to respond and take care of any problems I was having. I lived at the place a little over 2 years (happily) when they served me a 60 day notice because the owner wanted to move a family member in. I was so sad! They told me it was no reflection of me and that they would be happy to rent to me again. Obviously this was out of their control. Moving out I got basically my whole deposit back. I would rent from them again.

I read through the poor reviews and they are all spot on. Luckily, we knew the owners of the house and they were wonderful. Carla was unprofessional in the way she handled our account. I was shocked on many occasions with her demeanor over the phone. We did get most of our deposit back but it was a struggle. My biggest frustration was we had to clean the house before we moved in. They said there were workers at the house who used the bathrooms. The 2 bathrooms were very dirty as well as the floors, walls and parts of the carpet in the surrounding areas. So when I brought this up to Carla she paid us to clean the house ourselves. Moving is stressful enough but to clean an entire house was exhausting. We were sure the owners had no idea. When it came to the ovens they were both dirty. We cleaned one and refused to clean the second one. I took pics of the second one as proof it wasn’t clean. We never used the second oven as we never had to. Yet, when we moved out Carla kept money out of our deposit to have someone clean an oven we never used. I was furious but I lost that battle.

Pretty much the only good thing I have to say about Re Max Gold is that I was pleasantly surprised by how much of our deposit we got back when we moved out. Everything else during the year we lived in one of their properties was a mess.
When we went to sign the lease we were essentially threatened that if we didn’t sign it didn’t matter to them because they could fill it with someone else. While I understand that is completely true, we expected more professionalism on our first interaction with Carla. Luckily once you sign, you switch to dealing with Ashley and Jennifer.
Jennifer was helpful and responsive when you had questions related to rent or finances. Ashely was helpful for the first 2 – 3 weeks and then became impossible to deal with, let alone reach. I’d go weeks without hearing back from her. BE SURE to find anything wrong with your property and get it fixed ASAP because once you’ve been there a few weeks, Re Max will stop caring. While they would sometimes fix something within a few days of a request most of the time it was either never repaired (despite constant following up) or it took months to get them to do so.
Probably my favorite part of all though is that shortly before giving our 30 days notice we received a rent increase notice that would raise the rent an additional $ 150 or so. That was the last straw for us so we put in our notice. Before we had even gotten an acknowledgement that our notice was received, the property went up on Craigslist for only $ 75 more in rent then we were currently paying. So, if you don’t want to move at the end of your lease, be sure you don’t ask ReMax to fix electrical issues, repair damages they caused during maintenance or cause them any extra work, they will force you out.
My neighbors in my triplex ended their leases at the same time as us because we were all so fed up.

My experience with RE MAX Gold Property Management has been a delightful and unexpected experience of professionalism in this industry! My family has been searching for a house to lease/​rent for the past couple of months.
Dealing with other «so called» property management companies, mob showings and submitting applications with personal information via email or fax, and NEVER receiving confirmation of information (no matter who I called, emailed or text). This happily did NOT happen with the wonderful staff at RE MAX Gold.
Carla, Kendra, Ashley and Jennifer, communicated from the beginning of my inquiry promptly, courteously and in a timely manner. They were kind enough to answer via phone, text or email all my crazy questions to make sure they and the homeowner could make an intelligent decision about their new tenant.
Our family would recommend the team at RE MAX Gold Property Management to all my friends and family from Central California to NorCal. We would like to thank them for being kind, personable and truly committed to helping us find, view, apply, and get ready to move into our new home!

By far the worst property management company I’ve ever rented from. The day we went to sign our lease, they handed us papers, told us to let them know when we were done signing, and went to sit at their desks. They are very unprofessional and they never return phone calls. On several occasions it took them days to return my phone calls, and several times they were not returned at all. We rented what we thought was a very nice house in a newer area of Roseville, but upon moving in we noticed that it was infested with cockroaches, ants, and rats. The carpet in the two bedrooms were flea infested and incredibly dirty; before moving anything in we ran the carpet shampooer through the two small carpeted rooms and the water came out black twice! The white paint on the walls was so thin that it did not even cover the previous paint job, which was purple! The house was filthy, and there was even hair clips and used band-​aids left on the window ledge of the shower! The day after giving our 30 day notice, they asked if we would be available for them to show the house, which was understandable. The agreed upon day and time passed, however, and they never showed up, though potential renters did. After moving out, they charged us 168.00 to «tighten two towel rods and toilet paper holders, and to push in an outlet cover.» The outlet cover they were referring to was one that we had to replace ourselves because the one that was there when we moved in did not even fit properly and was broken. I understand that we pay a security deposit to cover any damages incurred and to maintain the house, but Remax only gave us half our deposit back and we left it in better condition than it was when we moved in. We have never received such a small percentage of our deposit back, because we are always sure to leave the house clean and well-​kept. In all of the years we have been renting we have never dealt with such an unprofessional, money-​hungry company.

Service… What service? Luckily I’m not having to rent from Carla at ReMax because I’m hearing from a close friend just what a lack of service she performs. I have a friend who’s been trying to rent a house for over a month. The process is dragging on and on not because of my friend but because a lack of communication. Numerous phone calls, messages and e-​mails have been left and Carla never responds. Then once she responds with some message that they are checking something Carla does into a disappearing act again. I’m just as frustrated as my close friend, listening to her level of stress get worse as this lack of communication and service goes on and on. ReMax Gold should be embarassed to have Carla representing their company with such lack of compassion or care for the displaced homeowners looking for a place to live.
