The Circuit Detective

Wonderful prompt service and reasobable pricing made me very happy to have hired the circuit detective to fix my faulty outlets. You will be pleased to have him fix any electrical problems you have.

We recently moved into a single-​story rental house in Los Angeles that was built in 1951. Because we have a baby, I hired a handyman to install GFCI outlets in the kitchen and bathroom. Apparently he was having trouble stuffing the new GFCI outlet back into the electrical box near the kitchen sink, and was using a flat-​blade screwdriver for leverage when he shorted across the hot contact on the GFCI outlet to something else and tripped the breaker. Yes, that means he was doing this with the circuit hot.
When the short happened the lights went out. The handyman (HM) disconnected the damaged GFCI outlet. He reset the main breaker and the lights came back on, but after that time he was not able to get any power at this electrical box. Eventually he gave up and left with the promise to return with an electrician friend, but after almost two weeks I hadn’t heard from him and he doesn’t return my calls.
Enter the Circuit Detective. I found Larry through his website, and utilized his remote consulting service via email. After I described the problem to him in detail, he immediately came back and said there had to be an intermediate breaker box somewhere between the main panel and the dead outlet. I hunted around and he was right — found one painted over on what was once an exterior wall. A follow-​up question to Larry and he had me back up and running again. Well worth the small consulting fee, Larry’s wealth of experience allowed him to pin point the problem right away.
You can bet I’ll make use of his services again. Key to success with this remote diagnostic service: provide a detailed description, and be able to provide pictures of the problem area.

We had a very strange electrical problem; half the house had power and half did not.
