Hi! We’re Scott and Julia, a husband and wife team. We specialize in Wedding & Engagement Photography. Our goal is to capture those little moments that make your wedding special.

We take the responsibility of recording one of the most important days of your life extremely seriously but we love to have fun with our photography. It’s not uncommon to see Scott hanging off a railing with Julia desperately counterweighting at his legs to get a great shot (we’re team players). You’ll see us anywhere from on top of tables/​chairs (particularly Julia because she’s short) to lying belly down on the floor. We love to capture the little details but do not lose sight of the big picture.

History

Established in 2010.

We have always enjoyed photography and our friends and family have been inundated with our travel photos in the past :) Scott made his first foray into wedding photography in 2007 when a friend asked him to fill in as his wedding photographer. It was a Catholic wedding followed by a simple reception at Hermosa Beach, California. Julia acted as Scott’s «assistant» photographer, helping to capture the special moments.

As our friends began to get married, we tended to fill in as the random guest photographers. Scott shot two other weddings in 2008 — one in Napa and the other in Santa Barbara. However, it wasn’t until 2010 that Bear and Penguin Photography was officially formed and the real fun began :)
