Barking Lot Doggy Daycare and Resort

We take our little man here when we are out of town and I think he has a blast. They have a webcam service so you can see your little one. they take them outside as well as have a playroom inside.

Great place.
They take very good care of my dog and he gets to play outside frequently. Another added benefit is the dogie cam that allows you to look in on the pooch while you are away.
I highly recommend the place.

I took my miniature schnauzer here and I pacifically told them to keep him away from big dogs because he has been attached twice in the past so he get really defensive and scared of bigger dogs and I look on the webcam service they had and they had all the big dogs and the smaller ones in the same room. I was extremely upset with them. Will not be taking my dog here ever again.

When this place first opened, it was a good place. They alternated between indoor and outdoor play time for the dogs. And I enjoyed watching my dog getting some attention from the staff during play time. A year later around the same time, Thanksgiving, I took my dog back there. They were overbooked. They didn’t have space for my dog, but said that they can accommodate if I can bring her own crate. My earlier experience with them was good (and I was desperate), so I decided to trust them. What a disappointment. When I watched the play area over the weekend, each room was clearly too crowded with dogs and they no longer alternated between indoor and outdoor time. The staff was not as attentive as earlier. The overbooking may not have been anticipated by their computer system either. My dog was not in their system when I went to pick her up. The experience only made me feel that all they cared about was making money.

Thank you so much for taking such great care of my puppy Bacon! This was the first time we have been away since we adopted him as a pup. I visited the facility and got a tour of the place before deciding to board my pup there. The facility is very nice and clean, staff is super friendly. We boarded him for 3 nights. Being a dog mom, i watched him on daycare cam every morning and he was just having the time of his life meeting new friends and playing. Will definitely continue to bring my dog here for future daycare/​boarding needs.

We had a wedding in New Orleans this weekend and decided we would board our two shihtzus. Our old place had closed down so I came to Unilocal!
Found the barking lot and loved the people. The space was huge and there were SO many dogs, it being spring break. Met Toni the owner, she seemed very kind.
We dropped the dogs off, left and were told to view the dogs on the video cameras just follow the steps on the card given. Unfortunately, the video didn’t work for us but all in all were happy. The dogs didn’t seem the least bit shaken up which is AMAZING as this was our 3 yr old girl dogs first experience with boarding! Also, they were AWESOME when we went to pick up the dogs, we running late and they were closing. They even stayed about 15 minutes after closing to allow us to get our pups!
Exceptional costumer service will always get 5 stars from me!
Overall– I would definitely recommend this place.

Love The Barking Lot. Emma goes here 3 days a week for daycare and is occasionally boarded. She’s incredibly happy here and I pick a pooped pooch. Contrary to a previous poster, I have never been concerned about her health or safety while here. They are always the first to tell me if something is wrong, and at times are more concerned about it than I am. Emmas has occasional tummy troubles, as well as severe environmental allergies and they have been nothing but accomodating to her needs and show tremendous care and concern for her.
I would never hesitate to take her here. Ever.

Here is my original review:
I had never boarded my 4 year old German Shepherd before in my life but was forced to when I went on a 7-​day cruise and got married. I was VERY nervous and read a lot of Unilocal reviews on different places. I chose Barking Lot because it had nothing but 5 star reviews from all the reviewers. Let me say I am convinced that the people giving this place 5 stars are either employees, or are rating this facility for a service other than boarding. (I boarded my dog for 8 days, and picked her up on July 13, 2014 — this is recent.)
When I returned home 8 days later, I picked her up w/​an ear infection and kennel cough and the Barking Lot assumed no liability for her health and safety during her stay. I provided my shot records before boarding her and they assured me that they do not accept any animals that are not up-​to-​date on vaccinations (and she would be in a healthy/​safe environment with other vaccinated pets.)
I called the Barking Lot last night to let them know when she began coughing the next day that it sounded like she had kennel cough. I spoke to the OWNER, Toni. She asked me when I last got her vaccinated (For Bordatella — Kennel Cough) and I told her 10 months ago is when she got her last round of distemper, bordatella, rabies, and whatever my vet usually gives them once a year to keep them current on their vaccines. Toni (Owner) said «Bordatella shots only last 6 months, you should NOT have been accepted here to board her… You should have been turned away» (Sounds like one of her employees broke a law/​rule right there…) Toni’s «employees» checked w/​my vet to see when she was last immunized and even seeing that she hadn’t been immunized for Bordatella (Kennel Cough) for 10 months, they STILL accepted her and never said anything to me, which lead me to believe that she was current on her shots and would be safe.
Since the kennel cough quickly turned into constant/​violent vomiting, I called them to request a refund of the boarding costs due to poor service/​quality and the fact that I had to spend even more to undo whatever damage was done at their dirty, ill-​ness infected facility and that she needed immediate veterinarian attention. The manager called me back and explained they would not refund my money because they opened too recently and can’t afford it (Does that sound like they care about dogs?) I asked the manager about the Bordatella shot and how long they are good for, and he said they are good for 12 months (Hmm, and owner still says 6 months. Don’t think anyone knows anything about vaccinations or animals here.) Speaking of incompetence, Toni assured me that my dog wouldn’t have gotten an ear infection unless she was exposed to water (and she was absolutely sure that did NOT happen.) Until I advised her that her «manager» admitted bathing my dog during my cruise.
Bottom line: The Owner thinks one thing (like Bordatella last 6 months), the «Manager» thinks another (Bordatella is okay for 12 months), and they point fingers at each other to place blame and make excuses for any liability they have. If that sounds like the kind of place you want handling the life of your pet, then be my guest. But their prices are comparable to reputable places and I’d recommend searching for a new place immediately. This «business» is more concerned with making money than expired shot records & the safety and well-​being of the dogs in their care. There’s no telling what kind of sick animals they let in there just to make a quick buck. It’s disgusting.

I will say that the people there are incredibly nice, seem to love dogs, and the facility is clean; however I was very disappointed in the lack of communication. My sweet girl got into a «little scuffle» one day, she had a decently sized laceration on her side where another dog bit her. I understand that animals are unpredictable and things happen, however it was my understanding that I would be contacted immediately if something happened. I was made aware that an incident occurred when I picked her up about 3 hours after the incident, as I found out later, and was assured she wouldn’t need a vet visit. When I got home I consulted some friends from her adoption group who both suggested we visit the vet. Well, 2 stitches, 3 vet visits, and a week later she is nearly back to her old self. I even stopped by the facility the day after and mentioned that we had to see the vet and that her wound was almost 2″ deep. The day after that I called to see if I can get more details about the altercation since she started limping and was very sore in her neck area, we spent a few hours at the emergency vet the night before where she got a shot of pain medication. I finally got a call back that afternoon. I really wish them the best and hope that they change their communication policy. It should be the owner’s decision how bad an injury is, at the very least a phone call is in order.

I have brought my Never to this facility for daycare and boarding since September 2013 and the quality of service has remained constant. It is a great facility with wonderful staff who will treat your furbaby as their own. My Never comes home each time with huge smile and then passes out from the excitement of the day. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to leave their furbaby in a safe, clean and worry free facility.

My wife and I have been going to doggie day cares for over 9 years now. When we moved to Dallas 18 months ago we went to another doggie day care which was good. However, the cost was much higher.
During a recent trip, we needed to find a place for our active Brittany and my in-law’s GSP which is not overly social as compared to our Brittany. I found this place by a Google Search. Upon calling the facility, they invited me to visit the location prior to boarding our dogs. The Friday prior to our trip, I did take them up on their offer. I would not send my «kid» to a place that I didn’t feel comfortable with.
Toni and Getel took me on a tour and explained how their operation worked. The first thing I noted is how they have taken this old childs day care and turned it into a doggie day care and boarding. This reminds me of another day care we helped get established in Las Vegas by the name of Doggie District. The facility was clean and did not smell of chemicals and/​or animal feces. It was clear that the owners and employees take great pride in their operation. The kennels come in two sizes. They are not temporary kennels, but permanent in that they all have concrete block walls and the doors are iron so that the other dogs can be paid attention to without going into the kennels. They have an indoor play area for big kids and small kids. Then they also have an outside play area for both as well.
They have a doggie exercise room available for dogs that may not have a yard to run in on a frequent basis so that they can get exercise. Currently they do not have a groomer on site, but do have the facilities for such expansion in the future.
Their costs are reasonable. The owners care about dogs to the point that they have gone to advanced training courses for proper handling of dogs. the owner’s dog is the mascot of the facility is a very laid back host who gets to roam the facility.
We look forward to coming back here on a regular basis when we have to go out of town. We may even consider bringing the kids to day care every once in a while. This will take a little work because it is in the opposite direction of my work. But the interaction would be worth it.
As I have stated earlier, we have been to multiple doggie day cares in our lives. We have lived in many different cities. This is one of the best we have ever been to.

I really like this place. It is very clean and unlike most doggy daycares it smells good. It seems very large and well equipped. The staffs are very friendly and the owner seems to be very active and hands on in operation. Highly recommend.

I like this doggy daycare because it opens earlier than others. My adopted dog Rocky has been here several times and loves it! I love the fact that they have webcams to check in on to see how your dog is reacting. Really nice there who know and love dogs!

I went here for the first time and I will definitely be back. My dog came back to me tired and happy, just the way I like it. They also have more extensive hours than most places on Saturday so that’s good so I can get all my errands done.

We just picked up our dog, Cricket, from a week long stay at The Barking Lot and I cannot say enough good things about the facility and and the caring people who work there. From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we packed up her things at the end of her stay, our dog was given the best care. While we were away, we were able to watch her play with the other dogs and interact with the staff via several webcams. We were most impressed watching the staff engage the dogs-​they played with and interacted with all of the dogs. They really treated them as if they were their own. There are two outside areas –one for larger dogs and another for smaller pooches. There are also two indoor areas. The facility itself is top-​notch– in addition to pools outside they also have a misting tent. When we picked up Cricket this afternoon, she had been given a bath. We travel quite often and we will be bringing our dog back to the barking lot without a doubt!
