CertaPro Painters of Lewisville/Flower Mound, TX

Just had the entire exterior repainted I like Rich and believe he is honorable and follows protocol. His big disconnect is his subcontractors are no better than «2 guys in a truck». Excuses, delays, shoddy work and left a huge mess for us to clean up. I repainted several areas after they left because its just not worth dealing with his «foreman»

The crew was very professional and diligent. They finished the painting in one day.

I shopped for painters when moving in to a new house. I chose CertaPro (having never heard of them before) due to an impressive binder of reviews (mostly printed from online review sites — more on that later) and a friendly, professional sales pitch by the owner. We got along well, and he stressed his personal involvement in the business.
They agreed to a whole-​house interior paint job, which was as I know now, rather minimal. A single color, single layer on top of existing paint throughout all rooms except for three exceptions. For the single color, we were told to choose a color that was close to existing and darker. We showed the color to the forewoman who agreed it was suitable. The exceptions were similarly reviewed with the forewoman. The time frame for the job was three days (between house purchase and move-​in).
First, the good: The forewoman was fairly easy to get a hold of. The office itself was easy to get a hold of. They (mostly — read on) completed the work on time. They did correct *some* of the things we requested.
Now the not-​so-​good:
They were expensive. This wasn’t a huge shock, and something the owner and I discussed — «you get what you pay for,» «we guarantee our work,» etc. I understood. Now knowing, it was still a high cost to value delivered.
They absolutely did not have enough time to do a good job, and with this I sympathize. If they didn’t expect to have enough time, they shouldn’t have agreed to do the job in the time frame given. The forewoman brought in what one might call «the B team» to help them finish, and I am sure this is one of the reasons the quality was not there.
The quality — there were many drips, many patches with no little or no paint, skips, and even large areas with no paint at all, in places that were not easy to see upon first glance. One specialty item (a 4×8 chalkboard surface) had to be redone, and I believe it was never done with actual «blackboard» paint. Some fixtures were not re-​hung, some no longer function or are broken (e.g. exhaust fan in bathroom, register cover in bedroom, blinds in kitchen). There are several places where the coat of paint simply was too thin or too hastily applied where the under color shows through.
It was not as easy as I would have liked to address concerns. I did contact the owner and never received a response from him. I did communicate with the office person and the forewoman, but they are not the «boss» and were not as friendly or professional as I would have liked — they lacked the «customer is always right» disposition that I think is key to a good «I’m the guy paying» relationship.
I did try to provide reviews on the site where I originally found them — and have since learned that that site which I will not mention functions more as an advertiser-​paid-​for site then a real place for reviews — and the binder of reviews I mentioned? — full of «reviews» from that site.
Why I am I writing this now, 1 year later? Because all of a sudden I am reminded of the unpleasant experience due to repeated mailings and email blasts.
I would recommend shopping around before contracting this company, and very cautiously engaging them — be prepared to follow up and follow through with your demands. For us, it was just not practical to continue spending time requesting corrections, once we were moved in and trying to get settled. I take it upon myself to be more cautious in the future.

Unfortunately the comment from Rich F is absolutely not true… due to his lack of involvement or follow through of his sales pitch I chose to contact the Regional office to try and reach some resolution. That was the only time Rich F emailed me.
Again I would absolutely steer clear of this branch of the company, what one receives is not what one is promised, far from and extremely disappointing. Certainly not the customer satisfaction Rich says he strives for.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that the painters washed their equipment on various lawn areas killing off massive patches of grass.

Had Certapro come out to paint the house and deck.
Issue #1 — One of the 2 employees knew what to do however the 2^nd employee did not know how to do much of anything. When we asked whether the deck was power washed the answer was yes. When we looked at the deck it was still filthy dirty. Unfortunately, the house was already power washed (supposedly) and painted. The painter confirmed the house was washed by the same employee that washed the deck so it is very likely they painted my house over the dirt. Also, there were times the inexperienced painter was left by himself so that the lead painter can go to another job.
Issue #2 — The deck was painted the wrong color. We went through exhaustive means to pick the color we wanted, going to the store several times for samples. Once we selected the paint color and provided the formula to Certapro, they painted the deck with the wrong color. No validation or verification was done to ensure they had the right color. They painted over the first coat with the right color. We were told the deck would take 30 days to dry. We waited 45 days and now the flowers from the shrubs are sticking to the deck surface. I had to move all the furniture and large plant pots back nto the deck myself. I don’t think the painting was done correctly.
Issue #3 — Painting supplies were cleaned on the lawn killing the lawn and leaving brown spots.
Issue# 4 — Owner Rich said his primary goal is customer satisfaction which gave us the indication we were looking for. He indicated he would be back to do a walk through when the job was done. He was nowhere to be seen once the job started. No follow-​up to discuss issues during the job and no walkthrough after the job was finished. Hardly a customer service oriented company.
I would pass on these guys.

This company does great work. About a year ago they de-​popcorned all my ceilings in my 2800 sq. feet house. Looks like a new house, took 20 years off of it. We have them coming out again next week to paint the entire first floor interior.
