I wish I could give 0 stars… let’s just use the word swindlers instead of crooks… I bought 2 glasses of wine from the bar-roughly $ 12-and left a $ 3 tip… BUT $ 30 got posted/debited on/from my account… what kind of math is this… luckily I kept my receipt. not to mention the forever wait for my food, which came out wrong TWICE, and my beer that NEVER appeared(which prompted me to go to the bar in the 1st place) and I STILL got charged for the sad dry burger with no condiments…2 words… NEVER again…

This place gets 5 stars on customer service alone! Each of those servers exhibited EXCELLENCE customer service. They were friendly, helpful and continuously checked on us. It was absolutely amazing! The brunch had a lot of options and was good and well seasoned. The mimosas were quite tasty as well.

I really wanted to like this place, as I’ve heard great things about it such as the $ 3 Crown and down and 50 cent wings on Wednesday. However, my first time going, will also be my last. Granted it was during the NBA Playoffs, but with that being said, as an establishment, one would think that there should be more than 2 waitresses, 2 bartenders, and 1 cook. I tried to overlook that, however, it should not take over an hour to bring a glass of water. It probably would of took less time than that, however, our waitress must of been overwhelmed by the crowd as she spent most of her time in the kitchen or somewhere in the back. When she finally did come, she actually asked if I had gotten my water, when she was the one who was suppose to bring it to me. If she didn’t bring me the water, how was she expecting me to have it, maybe I was suppose to go to bar and pour from the pitcher myself. The cook brought me my wings personally, which I found odd, as normally there are runners who bring out the food, so that the cook can do just that, cook. If they hire more staff, train them in service, then this place can probably be on its way to 2 stars by the end of 2016.

I’ve been here a few times but the service keeps getting worse. They don’t have enough servers. It takes forever to get food. I’m here right now and have yet to receive the water I requested over 30 minutes ago. I like to support establishments in my area but I won’t come back here anytime soon.

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel the great atmosphere. The music always fits the theme/mood for the night. Nice screns The Sunday lunch time is real nice too. The food… Let’s just say it’s like soul food done on another level of taste and visual. My Company, The DJ& The Drummer Collective, played here a couple of times and they treat performers like V.I.P. From giving you a server immediately to feeding the artists buffet style. This is any artist dream that should happen everywhere in the world! Highly recommended place to chill, dance, and meet new people. Can’t wait to play here again as an artist and come back as a customer. Oh… Dress code is not mandatory but you will definitely want to dress to impress!

I live around the corner and I thought I had found a new hang out spot. I was mistaken. I did like the atmosphere and the live band that played, they had a neo soul type of vibe. As far as the food it was not good. My friend who’s from Louisianan spoke with the chef and based off his confidence we were expecting the best food ever lol. But was sadly mistaken, again. The boudain balls were very dry and bland. The fried chicken Looked good until you took a bit and realized they were not cooked all the way through and lacked any seasoning. We had to send back two different orders because they weren’t good. I am allergic to cilantro and said no cilantro… of course I had cilantro. When I told the person who delivered the food I informed her I asked for no cilantro and she debated me about it, then took the food back with an attitude. The drinks were ok for the price. Apparently the mojito is the best drink there… unfortunately the manager and her friends were there«partying» and by the time I ordered one at 8pm they were out of the ingredients. SMH. I guess the old saying is true its not what you know but WHO you know. Great management and chef at HOOPZ…*eye roll*

Ok this place just opened up next to Ladera where I live. Went there two times and I can tell you they need customer service skills and a new cook. No greeting, no service unless you ask, dark and dreadful, stinky, food was horrible and COLD. There was a light skinned lady acting like she was doing me a favor by answering when I asked about the ingredients in the sauce put on my food(that I did not ask for). Terrible terrible terrible!!! Not even worth one star! but can not post without it. If you do go there stick to the OVERPRICED drinks. The rum and coke was just ok, cuz the ice tasted weird like they are not cleaning properly.

Food was ok, took a long time to get food and drinks. I had heard great things about this place however, my experience wasn’t great.

I wouldn’t know if the food was great because I NEVER received any service. One of the male workers open the door to let us in. There was an African American, female bartender with maroon, big hair. There were maybe two or three other people at the bar. My party of three sat ourselves in a booth, never greeted or welcomed. We sat for about 10 minutes and didn’t receive anything service yet and still. We just ended up leaving and guess what? The bartender just looked at us crazy and didn’t say not a word as we walked out.

It’s unfortunate that I have to comeback to this and take back the 4 stars I gave them. I’ve been to this place at least 5 times now and have gotten to try their food various times. The food was never consistent here. After ordering the chicken fried steak, I thought it was really good and I had to comeback after dying to have it again. Unfortunately the 2nd time was a bust and became worst. The gravy that was supposed to be «pepper gravy» which is creamy in color isn’t the same sauce that was put on my CFS. It tasted a lot different too! I’m guessing it’s the sauce for the fish. I talked to Chef Ty and this is when everything escalated a bit more. He said the gravy is like that because it wasn’t made peppery. What kind of excuse is that? It’s PEPPEREDGRAVY. I expect peppered gravy to be peppery and not clear in color. He then brought out the real gravy to go with it and he said he made it peppery and sure enough it was the same one I had before but the thing is I think he wants me to our it on the CFS I already have with the wrong sauce in it. What kind of logic is that?! Until I stared at him and he came to his senses and asked me «do you want me to cook you a new one?» Of course, isn’t that the first thing you need to do? As far as I know, if you are a head chef of any place you need to take pride of your food. If anything is wrong you have to take responsibility and offer to make it right. That night was a mess. People around us have been getting their orders wrong and it wasn’t even that busy. It makes me wonder what is really going around in the kitchen. So, after a few minutes there comes out fresh off the kitchen CFS with the correct gravy. Halfway thru eating we found a piece of plastic in my bf’s food. That’s it for us. We didn’t eat the whole thing. My bf and his family went back to try it again last Saturday(3÷12÷16) ordered their food and it took the kitchen an hour until the food came out. They ordered 4 plates and after an hour there were only 3 plates served, it took them another 20minutes to get the 4th plate out. Wth? The Mac and cheese was cold and my bf just have to send it back. And the CFS is now made if the parties just like what they had at Grandys? Hoops, what is really going on here? It was great then it turned really, really bad.

Another visit made a whole lot of difference from the time I wrote the first review. The food is solid and the chef is very personable(3rd star) the table cloths this time is very neat, not wrinkled and it look more sophisticated for this whole place that they are trying to get at(that’s another whole star) Tonight, we had the Chicken Fried Steak with 3 cheese Mac and cheese and veggies. The steak is tender and that gravy is awesome but what makes the dish really unforgettable is the Mac and cheese. It was creamy and has this gooey goodness, the pasta is al dente and just on point. Hoops, I hope you make it through. We had an experience before with the same type of place but never made it because of the wrong people handling it. P. s. Chef Ty, what ever you are doing just keep it up!

This is easiest one of the best soulful food places I know of in North Dallas. I’ve been a few times a week since they opened!

I was at this location today and on saturday and the reason ive decided to write a post is because I have witnessed twice bad business practices. For one the owner of the bar sits at the bar surrounded by men flirting and drinking instead of running a business, how can you successfully run a business if your drunk? 2 i watched this same owner not serve and kick out a group of patrons without and explanation as 2 why which resulted in the police being called now mind you there was a bar full of people why not serve them if it was before midnight? The only going for this bar is the food the chef has done an amazing job with the menu and how the food is prepared, but even with that I will not return, the owner of this bar also owns The Amadi Foundation how can you have a foundation with horrible business practices?

This restaurant is amazing, and is so much more than just a bar. I had the chicken fried steak and loved it! Check it out, great neighborhood bar with good service.
