Worst Experience Ever!!! My mom and I booked this company to move our things from Chicago to LA. We were moving out of our home in Chicago on 07÷01÷15 and had to give our keys to the new owner. The moving company arrived late on 7÷02÷15. The items picked up on this date were supposed to arrive to our home in LA on 7÷12÷15 and we received them on 08÷18÷15. We had been trying to contact the moving company for over a month and heard no reply from them. We started to think they had run away with our things. Robert the truck driver called us on Monday ⁸⁄₁₇ saying that he would finally be delivering our things the next day. He wanted to make sure his truck would fit in our apartment complex, so I called my apartment complex to make sure and they said it would. I then called Robert back to let him know and he proceeded to argue with me on whether it would fit or not and started saying he would charge me extra and he didn’t think it would fit and being very unnecessarily rude. The next day when Robert finally arrived he was extremely rude from the moment he stepped in to our home. My mom and I were very frustrated at their lack of costumer service and when we asked him why it took so long to deliver he decided to yell back at us as if he was the one that was frustrated. We then asked Robert to call his manager to speak to him about their lateness. I had mentioned to the manager that on the contract there is a 30 day guarantee of delivery and it had been 36 days since the expected delivery date, and he said it was only 6 days over the 30 day guarantee. He was unapologetic and began to argue with me and provided no help or understanding of why they were so late or why there was a lack of communication. After paying Robert the remainder of the money we owed, if we asked him to do anything he would reply with a snarky comment. As they were moving our refrigerator into our home it wouldn’t fit. A man named Harvey and his son who were helping Robert began to figure out a strategy to make it fit, but Robert told them to stop and that it wasn’t his responsibility if it didn’t fit and that he was just going to leave our refrigerator on the porch and we could deal with it. Harvey ended up finding a way to make it fit through our door. Later my mom asked Robert to take their blankets and wrapping off of the sofa and he replied «you can wait». She asked him to move the T.V. over because they had placed it in the wrong area and he said that «wasn’t part of his job description.» When my mom stated that she had no man at home to move it for her and it was to heavy for me or her to move it he replied ’”that wasn’t his problem”. When my mom asked him to make a list of the many items they had damaged on the move he proceeded to argue with her on each damage claiming that it «wasn’t a big deal». Over all he was extremely disrespectful and talking down to my mom the whole time. Towards the end when he began to yell at my mom because she asked him to move the T.V. I stepped in and mentioned that he was extremely disrespectful. I have worked in customer service too and have never spoken to anyone/​or been spoken to in that tone. When I mentioned that to him he stated, «when you are nice to people they walk all over you.» Harvey and his son who were helping move our stuff in said don’t ask Robert anything, we will help you with whatever you need. They also kept stating that Robert was being rude and shouldn’t be talking to us like that. Harvey and his son were extremely helpful and polite. At the end of the move Robert began to yell at my mom and she eventually couldn’t take it. She said she would be complaining on him and he said he didn’t care. We welcomed Robert into our home and paid him and his company thousands of dollars to be repeatedly screamed at by a man we had never met before in our own home, and to have our items shipped extremely late and receiving them mostly damaged. This was the worst experience I have ever had with anyone or any company. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone and I wouldn’t recommend this extremely unprofessional moving service to anyone in the future.

Do not use this moving company! They lost a very valuable painting of ours and won’t return my calls regarding the lost painting. All of the boxes delivered were damaged and they broke our sofa. They did arrange for someone to fix the sofa, so I’ll give them a small amount of credit. In addition, the driver requested us to sign the inventory sheet out in the street in front of our condo before he would bring the items up into our unit, this is absurd, they are supposed to allow you to make sure all of your items have been delivered before signing.
This company is shady and absolutely not worth the trouble. I’ve never written a review before but felt obligated so that I could hopefully save someone else the trouble that we’ve been through with this company.

They were great to work with until they picked up my belongings. Once they had them though, they became unresponsive and were very difficult to get a hold of. I finally had to call their customer support line to actually talk to someone and then was given excuses of why they hadn’t responded.
When doing interstate moves they contract out the delivery, so calling them with any questions about the delivery is useless since all they told me was to talk to the people delivering the items.
When the delivery people showed up the final price was $ 350 more than the price that I had been told. This was never discussed until they showed up. The reason for this increase was because I was told they couldn’t fit the big truck in my neighborhood. About 3 hours later I saw a big truck in the same neighborhood.
Their methods of payment on delivery are also very interesting since they only accepts cash or post office money order. They take every precaution to make sure they get paid and the customer can file their claim for 60 cents of every dollar the item is supposed to be worth.
My box spring was damaged in the move, it appeared that it had been dragged around or rolled end-​to-​end. Many of the boxes also looked as though they had been tossed around during the move.
Overall, I would not use this company again. After posting my review to CustomerLobby as requested by the moving company. I received a request asking to have it removed. I did not however receive any sort of correspondence asking how they could do to change my mind on the terrible review.
Beware before trusting them with your belongings.

I would recommend to stay far far away from Sky Van Lines. The 3 weeks of delays and $ 3K+ worth in damages made this the worst moving experience possible.
My husband and I moved from Dallas to San Francisco. The group of movers who packed up our items were professional and organized. Unfortunately, the group of thugs that ended up delivering our items were the complete opposite. Sky Van Lines stated that they needed 2 weeks notice to deliver our furniture. After we gave proper notice, Sky Van Line started to make excuses and stall the deliver date two days at a time until they were over 3 weeks late. My husband had I took turns on the phone constantly following up on delivery dates. SInce we had no furniture in our new apartment and were not anticipating a 3 week delay, we had to buy an air mattress and several other items to deal with inconvenience.
When the movers did finally make it, it looked like they had played football with some, if not all, of our boxes. TVs were broken, my antique office desk (which was solid wood) and a huge section torn off, both beds were missing important pieces, our washer/​dryer was banged up… and the list goes on and on. On top of all the damage, they took chunks out of the walls to our apartment. When my husband asked them to be more careful with the boxes rather than tossing them into our apartment, once of the movers became aggressive and started cussing in Spanish.
I know we weren’t the only ones to experience this as we ended up with parts of another couple’s bed. The other couple contacted us and drove an hour into the City to meet us and pick up their missing pieces that the movers had left at our place. Unfortunately, our missing pieces were never found.
After this entire fiasco, we only received $ 150 for the 3 week delay and found out that our damage claim was based on how many «pounds» of damage we had ($ 0.30 per pound). So basically, for items like the 10 pound 2012 Samsung Flat Screen, we would have received $ 3.00. These damage awards were so insulting that we gave up on evening fighting for a claim.
I think that Sky Van Lines subcontracts its work out. It looks like it’s a coin toss on whether you end up with good movers or bad. I’ll never take the chance again with this group.

We had one of the best moving experiences with Sky Van Lines! I’m surprised by the two bad reviews already listed. My experience was very different as I found these guys to be professional, punctual, and exceedingly careful with our belongings. My husband was previously in the military and we’ve gone through several moves so we know how bad some movers can be.
Even my husband, who is extremely meticulous and hardly ever has a good thing to say about any business, was satisfied with their work. He watched them like a hawk while they wrapped our furniture in what seemed like a ridiculous number of moving blankets and was impressed with their attention to detail.
We did experience one of the negatives mentioned by the other reviewer, though. Only the moving foreman spoke English, but this has been true of most the other movers we’ve ever used in the past. I think that’s pretty normal in the moving industry. I don’t think it really affected our move though as the foreman listened to all of our concerns and made sure to honor our special requests about some of our items.
Honestly, I’m not sure we would’ve given these guys a chance had we read these other reviews first, but they were recommended by a family member who used them recently and was extremely satisfied. In the end, they worked out great! Our stuff arrived to our new home undamaged and in the time frame we were quoted.
I think these guys are hard working and they did care about our stuff. I also called several times and had all of my questions answered in a timely manner. We would use them again and recommend them!

Terrible. I have done several out of state moves before and Sky Van LInes is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Packing on the way out to CA the men who were moving my things did not speak any english and did not seem like professional movers at all, the only one who did was the foreman whom thought it was necessary to unpack some of my things because «they weren’t packed well enough» and repack them. Well guess what? I have to clue where some things are and the things that weren’t «packed well enough» and either damaged or missing. Also almost ALL OF MY FURNITURE has significant DAMAGE to corners legs and surfaces. On the day that my things did arrive only two men showed up, the driver and one guy who again looked like someone that was picked up outside of home depot, zero English. The drivers excuse was that «no one wanted to work today» it was a Saturday in summer, if your a mover thats when you work! So what should have been a 5 hour job took all day and was just thrown in my house without actually placing things where I wanted it. They also dropped my baby’s crib on the floor after I had told them that it was one of my most treasured pieces. BOTTOM LINE– the people who answer the phones at sky van lines are nice and professional BUT THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK ARE TERRIBLE and I understand some damage is to be expected when you are doing a move but this is going to cost me a fortune in repairs and replacements.
