Great place to climb. Friendly, positive, helpful people. Top rope, auto belays, and bouldering.

This Carrollton Summit location is hands down– the best one to go to. This location is built with a little more than half of the walls for bouldering and the other for top roping. They even have a an outdoor patio, yoga rooms, upstairs weight room, and bathrooms with a shower and locker space. The staff is friendly and they play pretty chill music. Over all, my favorite location to go to. The best times would be any time before 7 because they can get crowded.

My inner Yogi loves this place. Maybe one day I’ll actually climb!
Their Yoga instructors are nice, intelligent and NOT intimidating which is huge for me. Anyone that has walked into a new place for Yoga at some point in their life was very intimidated. That did not happen here; it was extremely welcoming.
My only complaint is the yoga room is very small. My classes have always been full but manageable. However, if I wanted to bring a friend of two with me, there would be no room.
Regardless, come do yoga with me!
P. S. They host yoga at breweries on the weekends and its my favorite day of the month always!

This place is really cool. I went on a Monday morning with a friend and this guy helped us until we were comfortable belaying each other. It is relaxed, a great workout and they play good music.

I can see how it could get crowded but it’s never been crowded when I’ve gone. It is rather small but being the oldest climbing gym in Texas, I’d consider it very well kept up! I like how intimate the place is. Everyone makes you feel welcome. I had never climbed before I went last week and I’ve been 4 times since. It’s awesome. Great workout, and a super friendly staff. I can’t say how welcoming they are.

Super friendly staff, membership are super reasonable, lots of auto belay routes, rarely too crowded, members’ hours, fun atmosphere.
Friends do the climb fit class, which they say is phenomenal, but anything with the word «fit» in it scares me.
Route ratings sometimes seem inconsistent, but I’m no expert.

Would love to give 5 stars. Unfortunately, due to how crowded it always is and how the «Team Texas’ kids get priority for everything and take over, I can only give 3 stars. The employees aren’t the most friendly and seem to be quite «cliquish» with the clientale. The staff need to be a bit more engaging and not just be a warm body at the door. Summit needs more room or another location in addition to the others in the DFW area in my opinion.

This place rocks! Hee Hee. We did the late night lock in with an adult singles group. BYOB –after you finish climbing. Great service, great prices. The climbing guides are sooo nice! Events & Adventures will be back for sure!

Enjoyed the variety of walls to climb. The employees were very knowledgable and helpful. They made sure that each person understood how to work everything, especially the belays. I had a blast and would definitely go again.

They have a large bouldering area and a small weightlifting area, which suits my needs. The top roping isn’t enormous, but the routes are well placed. Would recommend to friends!

I came here on a Friday night during their student discount time (Fridays after 6, $ 10 for day pass and rental) and I was very surprised to find out that not a lot of people come here during this time! There were two big groups that only did bouldering because they have a large bouldering area, a family with young children that stuck with the ropes, and me. I’m not complaining that it was empty, because that just means no waiting in line for the auto belays :). But I had a good time, everyone working there is always nice, and the bathrooms are very large and clean.

My kids took a week long summer camp at Summit. They loved it. Not a single day did they complain about going. When I piced them up they were happy and I could tell they had a great time. The staff is amazing. They took good care of the kids. Highly recommend Summit and their summer camps.

Not much to top rope or lead rope climb. Bouldering is not that great either. Staff is friendly but strict and confrontational. Will kick you out if you don’t clip in to the ground rope. Dallas Summit doesn’t even have ground ropes and Grapevine Summit leaves it optional. Of the 3, this is definitely not up to par. They are also greedy and the customer is always wrong. I started climbing at Grapevine 6 years ago and loved it there. Since I’ve moved, Grapevine is too far a drive. Because of Carrollton Summit, I have cancelled my membership and will not be using Summit again.
Frisco’s Canyons Climbing Gym is much nicer, climb– and staff– wise, with the closest climbs to outdoor climbing available. I’ll be getting my memberships at Canyons starting tomorrow!

I went to summit because I read the other reviews saying that this place was friendly for new climbers. I actually lived closer to another place but drove the extra distance because I was nervous and I wanted to get the help (the other place also had good reviews but none mentioning being helpful for beginners). I’ve been meaning to go rock climbing for the longest time but was always intimidated. This place was great… we showed up, did all the paperwork and then did orientation. The instructor was great about walking us through everything and showing us what we should do and what to avoid. I was specifically worried about belaying since neither of us have climbed before… and I didn’t want to be one of those guys that just stuck to the auto-​belays.
The place itself is nice and has a good amount of top roping walls, auto-​belay, and a huge bouldering area.
I will definitely be back.

I go here regularly and have been a member since last month. Being new to the climbing world the employees are knowledgeable and friendly. I love the space and the music is great. The balance is more a bouldering gym then a climbing gym but with the membership you have access to the other gyms in the area (Dallas, Carrollton, Grapevine and soon Denton). The right side of Summit Carrollton is now a bouldering section with nice thick padding. and the cave area is still in tact.

The last time I climbed here, this facility had daisy chain anchors that the belayer would clip into to prevent him/​her from being pulled into the wall by a heavier climber. Double wrapping a top rope is not needed if the belayer is anchored. If they took out the anchors then I can understand why people are concerned. But most likely the anchors are still there and the climbers were just not paying attention.

Despite being new to climbing, Summit Climbing in Carrollton made it easy to get into and learn the basics. The location is a bit out of the way for me, but definitely worth it. With a good mix of top rope and bouldering routes, there are plenty of opportunities to work on everything from strength and endurance to technique (they also offer yoga classes if you need to take a break)!
The walls here are also have a slightly rocky texture (I can’t remember the word for it), making climbing a little bit more realistic (certain moves along the wall require you to use the wall itself). They provide a good mix of route difficulties from 5.6 all the way up to 5.12 (using the Yosemite climb rating system), as well as a wide variety of bouldering paths. They also change up paths every now and then to make sure the routes stay fresh and so there’s always something new to try.
A climbing pass isn’t too pricey either. Though it’s normally $ 20 (to include shoes, a harness and chalk), they have specials throughout the week if you’re just looking to try it out (Monday’s 2 for 1 deal is a great time to bring a friend). Their memberships are pretty reasonably priced at $ 50/​month, $ 40 if you have a student ID and grant you access to all of their locations.
All in all, if you’re looking to start rock climbing or just want to have a fun time, this Summit location is a great choice.

Wish this place wasn’t so far, and I’ve only been bouldering, but this place is great. My roommate and I got here a few minutes early, but as there was an employee already there, she let us in, instead of making us wait outside (THANK YOU!).
Towards the end of our climb, one of the yoga teachers came over, telling us her class would be starting soon, and she was focusing on poses that would be good post-​climb, to stretch the forearm and arms we had just been using. I thought it was pretty cool that they tried to integrate everything.

I have absolutely zero bad things to say about this gym. A good friend of mine took me along last year on a monthly guest pass that each member is given. After that one time. I was hooked. I got myself a membership which runs roughly around 64 bucks a month Including tax. Includes a gear rental for shoes, harness, and chalk. The gym is not limited to just rock climbing. It also offers yoga classes, Abs classes, and a weight training section.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and will help anybody new coming through their doors feel welcome and safe.
The first thing you must do before they cut you loose to the gym is fill out a waiver. Once that’s done a representative will take you through the orientation process which includes a training session on how to safely belay your climbing partner, how to properly use the auto-​belay systems, and over all gym safety.
After a few months of climbing and enjoying my membership I decided that it was about time to say goodbye to the rental gear.
Summit offers you an awesome deal for members whom wish to purchase a gear package. I inquired with Mackenzie regarding this deal and she was more than helpful when it came to finding the right shoes and harness for a climber at my level (Thanks again Mackenzie!) and now I pay ten dollars less on my membership! Since I purchased my gear package it’s been even harder to actually keep myself away from the gym.
I spend roughly about 5 days a week at the least at Summit.
Mainly the Carrollton location, yet there are 2 other locations. One in Dallas and one in Grapevine. I can’t see myself canceling my membership to this gym anytime within the near future. There’s never been a time that I had any sort of bad experience, It’s easy and affordable for anybody to walk in and climb. Even if you’re just going on a date, or taking the whole family. Summit is a place that never disappoints. And deserves 10 stars in my book. I don’t see how anybody could possibly leave a bad review. Thanks for taking the time to read this. And climb strong!

Summit Climbing Yoga & Fitness is a great place to learn the basics of rock climbing (i.e. top rope, lead rope and bouldering). Unfortunately the Carrollton location does not have lead rope routes set, but that is the only down side of this gym. This gym is my home gym and I love it!
My wife and I love going here and heading to Fuzzys down the street for tacos and a beverage.

Just got off the phone with the manager. She clearly didn’t like my Unilocal review. She informed me that Summit is perfectly willing to take a safety risk by not double-​wrapping the ropes because the wall isn’t that high and they have professional climbers there. They have no intention of double-​wrapping the ropes in the future. Her exact words were, «We can only dumb it down so much.» My jaw dropped. This is insane. Someone is going to get seriously injured. Then, after a lawsuit, I am sure they will change their policy. But I am not going to be climbing there.

My date had been egging me to go rock climbing for the past few weeks so I finally caved. We arrived around 11:45 am and I went straight to signing my waiver. We waited a bit after we put or harness and climbing shoes on until the safety/​beginner orientation. It took about 20 minutes to go through the safety rules, precautions and measures for belaying and climbing in general. We were then off on our merry way.
Ben was the one who conducted our orientation and he was great! He was very thorough with the information and made sure that we were all prepared before we started climbing. Also, Ben, if you read this, I apologize for me and the boy throwing chalk at each other the entire time. Thank you for tolerating us and even laughing at how much chalk we had on our faces.
It was my first time rock climbing and I loved it. I got a little banged up from one of the walls because I was a little too ambitious! It was a great workout and by the end of my session I was on the ground just exhausted — but it was one of those «I feel great» exhaustions. I’m a bit sad that Summit doesn’t have any Houston locations for me to utilize. Summit is a great place to climb and I’ll definitely be back on weekends whenever I’m back in town!

This is a gym definitely meant for bouldering and has some interesting challenges.
The good: Nice looking, spacious facilities with good lighting. The holds are of good quality (you won’t need a lot of chalk) and there are a couple great areas with overhangs. The upstairs area provides a little more privacy and a challenge to better climbers. There is a pretty cool crack route.
The bad: It is ALWAYS packed. I actually waited in line for a couple routes last time I was there and the bouldering section has you climbing on top of people. I know that’s good for the gym because they stay busy but this is bad for climbers. I don’t want to wait in line for a route and want my own space. I’ve heard this complaint from many other climbers as well and heavily weigh my 3 stars on this point. The routes only go up about 30 feet. For an experienced climber, this is boring.
Overall: If you’re looking for a climbing gym with good amenities and a broad range of climbing options… and you don’t mind a Huge (yes, capital H) crowd, then you will probably like climbing at Summit. It’s a little pricey and you have to use a grigri (no ATC’s), but other than that, it is good climbing fun.

I was extremely excited to go rock climbing again after many years of not climbing. This place was offering a Groupon for two and I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place so my husband and I made a double date with another couple to give it a try.
Huge gym with PLENTY of walls to climb. What I loved most about it is that the baley ropes are harnassed to the ground so when I baley my heavier-​than-​me husband, I don’t go flying up in the air when he comes down the wall. We watched a short video on the basics and then an instructor made sure we were confident in our baley skills before setting us loose.
Another thing I liked about this place is the availability of crash pads. When I went to Dyno Rock a few years back, I was surprised there were no crash pads for bouldering. I don’t really trust myself not to fall safely unless there’s a big cushion under me.
Lots of bouldering fun, a lot of the bouldering routes were very difficult for me (as a newbie to climbing). However, lots of walls to baley and play with, and I felt there was a very nice range from easy/​beginner to moderate to difficult. I had a great time and this gym definitely re-​exposed (HAHAHA GET IT?) me to my love of climbing. I will be back!

Great way to spend a day with the family! This place has dozens of walls, you can buy a day pass climb for a few hours take a break for lunch and then come back for some more climbing. My kids love to climb and challenge themselves on the tough walls. It’s usually a few months between our visits and so we usually need a refresher and the staff is very friendly with that. The paths change every so often so if you climb a wall once don’t expect to be able to climb that same wall next time.
They offer party packages, have a gym area for members, a bouldering area for the more experienced climber. All around this is a great place for a beginner to experienced climber.

Exposure is a great place to go for those looking to learn more about this sport. The staff is helpful and will teach you the ropes if it’s your first time. They make sure you’re comfortable with everything before letting you loose. The walls aren’t that tall (I’m thinking no more than 25 feet), but each wall offers a different challenge whether it be angled walls or different shaped grips. Each wall truly gives you a whole different experience from all the others.
I remember coming here a while back when I was a little bit more in shape. I had no trouble getting to the top, even on the inclined walls. So when my buddies to asked me to go recently I decided to go to show them how things were done.
I have no idea what happened, but it was so tough this time around! Although I managed to get to the top on 8 out of the 9 walls I climbed I labored through half of them. The next couple of days afterward I got sore in places that I’ve never even thought were possible. The pain!
There are a couple of walls for people looking to boulder (no ropes!), but I didn’t try that as I was already struggling with the beginner walls. Rock climbing will seriously work you out so if you’re looking for a full body workout then check Exposure out. Mondays are a good day to go as you can get a day pass, harness, climbing shoes and chalk bag all for $ 10 which is half off of the original price. It’s technically a 2 for 1 deal so be sure to have an even number in your party!
I’ll leave you with this tip. Make sure you strap on your harness correctly and without too much slack especially if you’re a guy. I was talking an octave higher for a while after finding out the hard way. You’ve been warned!

For $ 10 (after 6pm) you can rock climb as long as you like.
When you walk in, you have to sign a waiver and kids can rock climb as long as there is an adult.
Once you finish paperwork (one easy sheet), you are asked by the guy at the desk to go to a certain area where they teach you how the ABCs of rock climbing. Once you watch this instructional video, you are given harnesses. From there, the instructor makes sure that you can correctly belay and use all their climbing lingo. After that, its all you and the wall.
Great time with friends tonight rock climbing. It’s a positive atmosphere where everyone encourages everyone to push harder and keep going when you’re rock climbing. Positive reinforcement is great especially when you have support from other rock climbers.
Be sure to try their «boulder» walls where you don’t need a harness to try it. It’s not about height, but your own personal strength. Just be sure to grab those black cushion mats to break your fall.
The place cubby holes for your stuff. You can get chalk for $ 5 more and shoes are provided.
