Company F of the 7th Michigan Cavalry (aka Troop D, 1st Nevada Cavalry) is a nonprofit historical reenactment organization in the Northern Nevada/California area keeping the tradition of the American Cavalryman alive.
History
Established in 1863.
The Company F of today is organized militarily as a company would be in the American Civil War. Our Commanding Officer is a Captain, 1st Lieutenant, or 2nd Lieutenant. Below him is a 1st Sergeant who serves as the second in command and senior enlisted soldier. He is responsible for the Adjutant and the Dismount Sergeant. The Adjutant serves as the chief for clerical matters, and holds the rank of Corporal or Trooper, dependent upon numbers. The Dismount Sergeant can hold the ranks of Sergeant, Corporal, or Trooper (dependent on numbers) and is responsible for the dismounted contingent for the unit. Last is the Equine Safety Officer, who can be of any rank, and is responsible for supervising the safe practices of the company at all times.
