Galaxy Theatres-Fandango

Prices have jumped up. Early bird showings are now closer to $ 8. And the bargain kid’s meal, which I usually pick (small drink, small candy, small popcorn) went from $ 5 to $ 7.
I hate that they play nearly all their previews at ear-​splitting decibel levels. Apparently I am not the only one who noticed — one of the ushers shrugged and said everybody complains about it. SO FIX IT.

So we decided to drive all of the way in to Carson City today so that would could enjoy the Galaxy Theater which generally provides a much better experience as far as cleanliness, customer service, etc than does the Ironwood Theater in Minden. However, I am sorry to say that today the drive to Carson, as well as the extra price you pay at Galaxy, was not worth it. After standing in line for 10 minutes, we got to the counter only to be told that the attendant could not serve us the beer we were going to order because she was under 21 and we would have to go get in another line. Okay, no big deal had there been a sign that said something to indicate that if you wanted alcohol, you would need to stand in a specific line, however, this was not the case. There is no designated line should you want to purchase alcohol, instead, it seems as if you get to play a guessing game as to the age of the attendant whose line you decide to stand in. So, we ended up moving to the back of a line one line over so that we could get in a line where the attendant was over 21 and could serve us. This line was even longer and we waited for another 10 – 15 minutes. Needless to say, I am glad we arrived extremely early. Extremely disappointed at the lack of ability to «fix» the problem. Instead of «oh sorry I can’t serve you,» I think a better response would have been to have the attendant that was over 21 pour the beer. Problem solved, everyone leaves happy. Either that or have a sign that says «this line only for alcohol» or something similar. With the prices we pay to go to the movie and to purchase food and drinks, I expect a little bit better in the customer service I receive.
Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

For our local theater, it’s just fine. The kids they have running the tills are pleasant. However, the management operates like a cliché used car dealership. When my father in law was alive and dying from ALS, my wife had to go into the men’s room to help him because they wouldn’t unblock and unlock their handicap restroom. After complaining for three years to corporate, they said they’ve fixed this, but unfortunately they’ve lost our business. There is a much nicer, bigger, and infinitely better theater at the Summit Sierra only 15 minutes from Carson City, with better concessions and a better movie selection.

Place is dated and the movie started 15 minute. Then, it had no sound for the first 5 minutes. Went and informed employee and received a «management has been made aware» reply. Not sure if I will return.

This is NOT a luxury Galaxy, meaning that they don’t have comfortable, reclining seats. To pay $ 23 for two people to go to the movies and NOT have these seats is a bit of a rip-​off IMO. Everything else was aight, tho, they were nice and tried to upsell Raisinets, of course. Stadium seating is nice and chairs are old, but pretty comfortable. I guess I was mostly just disappointed that they weren’t like the ones at Galaxy Luxury in Las Vegas. :/

i used to never go here, it was just to damn expensive and couldn’t get to the matinees, but eventually they promoted a rewards card and now I don’t fret or freakout on the expenses, as I have reward points so it pays off, and now that they have adult beverages and adult ice cream bars. heck it makes it better now.

Love this theater… however the snacks at the concession stand are absolutely out of control on prices. People will always sneak in snacks as long as they continue to «rob» people for a little popcorn!!!

The only big theater in town and i love to go here for their special ticket price every tuesday and it’s fun because being as their member, everytime you make any purchase so you’ll get points to be redeem.
Inside the theater is clean, and service is good

It has the widest variety of alcoholic beverages I have ever seen at a theater.

Only complaint the ticket kiosk took my money but didn’t give us tickets. Manager made it right.

So ticket prices will ALWAYS go up that is a given! They keep the place clean. They lack a bit of customer service, but hey it is a movie theater with a youthful staff. This review is 100% pointed at the fact that they do not allow any outside food, just for the simple fact that they want to Price GOUGE for a soda and popcorn. Galaxy Fandango is aimed 100% at ensuring the cost of the cheapest products on their menu {popcorn and soda} is the very most expensive they can get away with. That unfortunately is not a moral business practice that I want to be associated with. It is in no way FOR the consumer, but is AGAINST the consumer. Having more reasonable prices or practices is what will attract the local audience, not gouging them.

During my last stay in Carson City I decided I wanted to watch the new captain America movie… so after searching around for a cinema playing it, I found this cinema located in the upper part of the Fandango Casino.
It’s apparently the newest cinema in the area, which isn’t really obvious on first sight. the whole décor inside the viewing rooms is outdated, paint is chipped, the floor is scratched etc.
Once the movie starts however, you notice that the sound system is top notch and new. The Quality of the movie and sound was excellent and even though it was a 3D show (which I hate…) it was still a very enjoyable experience!
After reading some of the other reviews I really don’t know what they were expecting… Taking your own food and drink into a cinema is not possible anywhere, why should you be able to do that here?
The staff was friendly, the drinks were fairly priced for a cinema and all in all I had a good time.

The place is clean and has a nice staff, oh and it has a great sound system and comfy chairs. What more can you ask for?

The Galaxy Fandango, is the new movie theater in Carson City, which was needed. So you have some big rooms for the new movies and then have the smaller rooms for the not so big movies which is fine. The seats are comfortable for what they have. The sound quality is always good, and the picture is also good. I like how the movie theater is connected to the Fandango Casino, because after a movie the girlfriend and I like to get some dinner once in a while. That keeps up the rating.
Also I keep seeing the bad reviews on here. People are shocked by the ticket prices. First off, where have you people been. The ticket prices always go up, and yet you seemed shocked. Maybe go to a movie more then every 10 years. And then we have the people that get the concession sticker price shock. Really have you people lived under a rock, get your head out of your ass. So other then people giving bad ratings for things the movie theater cant change its really a great place. And they also play old movies too, which is fun. Enjoy!!!

I will NEVER go back to this theater! EVER!
First of all, we had 10 ppl with us. Paid well over $ 100 just to watch the movie. Even each of us bought popcorn and drinks. Anyway… My son who is disabled! Had a lil soda. You can not take something away from him with out a meltdown. I figured it will be okay. I understand they do not allow outside food and drink. But this was a different situation!!! The assist manager was the one taking tickets as we went in. He said my son was not allowed in unless he left the drink. I told him there was no way I could take it from my son. And it was only one little soda. He was very unprofessional and rude. I just walked right past him thanked him but said we were going to watch the movie now. He followed us into the theater harassing my son, MY DISABLED SON and my family. Telling my son to give him the drink saying I was going to be escorted out by security. I told him I understand he is doing his job but this is a different situation and if he tried to take it from my son all will not be good. I told him just try!!! i told him i wanted to talk to the manager or someone else other than him. he said he wasn’t there. I told him I was done talking to him DONE! He left. My husband went to buy even more popcorn. And he went up to my husband with the money we spent on tickets and said Your wife said she was done so here is your money I want you all to leave. My husband said she said she was done talking to you, you would rather loose over $ 100 then allow our disabled son to have a little less than a $ 1 soda. He said they didn’t make much on ticket sales anyways. My husband didn’t take the money and just walked away came back into the theater and we watch the movie. With my family. The «assist manager» didn’t come back.
I understand the rules of the theater! I understand he was doing his job! I understand… But I have a disabled child that does not deserve to be harassed! I will take this EVERYWHERE! This is not okay! I will NEVER EVER be back!

Theater does not allow outside food and drink, even for non competing items. Stop being so greedy and allow people to try to enjoy a movie.
An $ 18 movie ticket should not require concessions sales.

Clean and comfortable. I like coming to this Theater, still a good place to come to.

HORRIBLE AND DOWN RIGHT RUDE!!!
I know it is wrong to sneak in drinks, but it is also wrong for the employees to waltz in and take what ever you «illegally» brought in. After taking our drink they did the rounds with a bring red light, which was very distracting, and even came back a second time halfway though the movie. If they think that this is the right thing to do then they will be loosing a lot of return visitors. Me and my boyfriend are two of them. I’d rather drive down to Reno to see a movie now.

I’m downgrading the Fandango theater to two stars. That’s a «Meh,» The downgrade focuses entirely on the popcorn.
Now, I understand the economics of theaters. Ever since I was 14 and was tackled by three ushers for smuggling in a bag of my own popcorn, I’ve understood that refreshments are an income producer. The unspoken agreement is, «either do without, or buy the overpriced stuff from us.» That doesn’t stop me from occasionally sneaking something in anyway.
But if I’m going to succumb to buying from the company store, it had better be up to snuff. Sadly, the last popcorn I purchased from the Fandango was mostly crumbs and «old maids» and so salty it could barely be eaten.
At over $ 26 for two boxes of candy, three drinks, and a large popcorn, I’m afraid I’m going to have to demand a lot more from the Fandango refreshments that I do the movies. They have no control over the quality of the latter, but they can certainly do something about the former.
To sum up. Fandango popcorn sucks. Get it together.

Galaxy Fandango is the family movie theater of choice when we come up to Genoa. It’s modern, clean, comfortable, with sharp digital projection, and a convenient drive from home. My son also really likes it because of the «kid» energy, and I’m all for that because management does a good job at hormone control. As with other movie houses, it can be a little pricey. But other that, there’s not much more I could ask in terms of family film entertainment.

This will be brief:

Clean
Efficient staff, and plenty of them, lines were short everywhere
Plenty of parking (covered even if you’re willing to walk up the hill)
Comfortable seats
Can purchase tickets prior to arrival via your phone
Real Butter (and this can’t be ignored)
Great sound system
Won’t let young adults in without their parents after eight
Cons:
Expensive (matinée yesterday for True Grit = $ 6.75 per person)
Expensive (one extra large popcorn with a refill, one extra large soda with a refill and junior mints = $ 14)
Expensive, but it is everywhere.
We’ll be back because it’s great to go to a clean and efficient theater,.
