Melvin’s Car Wash & Detail #2 and Gift Shop

I took my wife’s car there to see if it was any good, I bought the #5 mini detail, I waited over 1 hour an 45 minutes for my car, when they said it was finally done I was so tired of waiting I gave them a tip and went home only to see how terrible of job they done on the inside and outside I went back to show them how bad they done, but all I got was a very rude person and lousy customers service!!! I said I guess you don’t want anymore of my service she just waved her hand and walked off. I have four vehicles I could of taken to them more often. But no I’m going back to Prestige car Wash on Highway 50 and telling everyone I know the service they give. And not to go there and take there cars to Prestige also !!

OK… first the good news. These folks do an incredible job on the vehicle. I’ve been there twice in the past 6 days, first with my wife’s car, then my truck. Both times I was VERY impressed with the quality of the work. I got the #5 (mini-​detail) for $ 25, which having gone to this place before when it was Carson Car Wash and also the one on HWY E, is a real value compared to the «full-​service» price I was used to paying of around $ 21.95 if I recall.
Now the bad news… bring a book or go for a walk… a loooong walk, cause it takes forever. Today was an hour and 45 minutes and there was probably 6 – 7 vehicles ahead of me. To be fair the young lady told me it would be around an «hour or so». Similar experience a few days earlier when I took my wife’s car there (hour and 15 minutes). I saw several cars pull up in line, wait for 10 minutes or so and back out and leave… no one came to greet them or take their money. When you go inside to pay, there doesn’t seem to be a dedicated person to accept payment, so you have to wait for someone to come in from outside, which can be awhile, but no biggie… you ain’t goin’ nowhere soon.
Once the vehicle emerges from the washing area, you think you’re just about done, but there’s considerable time spent wiping things down at least with the #5. I mean they don’t miss a spot anywhere. I tipped $ 10 each time, because of the amount of attention they put into the vehicle, but I saw several folks grumbling and leave no tip due to the time it took.
They do very nice work… but beware of the time issue.

I’ve always went to the melvins in Gardnerville and have never had any complaints. My car is always spotless after getting the mini detail. While in carson today running errands I spotted a melvins which I didn’t know there was another one. So I decided to stop and get my minivan cleaned as it needed it. (I have 4 kids) Well I sat there with my 8 month old baby for over 2 hours, when the man drying my vehicle called me over I checked the trunk area of my van, it looked like it hadn’t even been touched. My dog rides back there and it was covered in hair still. I asked the guy to vaccum it again. He came and looked at it and was almost embarrassed and apologized saying the woman had vacuumed it. Well by the time he was done cleaning the back I had to leave to pick up my kids from school. I went to put my baby in the car seat and the floors of the car were so dirty still. It was as though whoever vacuumed rushed real quick. My home vaccum could’ve done better. Well I called the store while heading home and asked to talk to the manager and explained everything. She began to argue with me and tell me that she was the one that vacuumed my van and that my van was sooooooooooo dirty when I brought it in and I needed a shampoo to actually get it cleaned. Well no that isnt true at all. I’ve had my floors covered in dirt after a storm and road trip and the gardnerville location made it spotless! No questions asked. She continued to argue with me and say how she did a good job etc and complain that my van was too dirty before and basically I couldn’t expect them to get it that clean. Well that’s kind of why you take your car to a car wash… to have it cleaned. She was extremely rude and I know I will never go back. I contacted the Gardnerville location and without finishing my story the guy on the phone told me to bring it in and he would redo the detail at no cost and fix their mistake… now that is service, no arguing just wanting the customer happy…

The slowest car wash ever, took an hour & a half for a simple detail. They dont seem to care much for their customers

After we came back from a trip, we decided to get a car wash. This time we tried this place.
They did a great job on the outside but they did a terrible job on the inside. They didn’t wipe down anything.
And didn’t vacuum seats, didn’t wipe down dash, didn’t wipe down control panel just a quick vaccum on the carpets.
Not really happy about it

They did a really go job of cleaning the car inside and out. However, it took too long, 30+ minutes and they were not very busy. Employees very friendly.
