Here’s an update. Again — this place is still zero stars.
As you can see from review below (1÷20÷2016), their Customer Service person commented on my review and asked me to give her a call — which I did the very next day.
Krystal was very nice — and has a tough job. Hohl knows they have a customer service problem and it is why they hired her. Unfortunately, they haven’t given her any power to do or solve anything.
Basically, she agreed with me that machining 2 rotors isn’t 1.25 hours of labor… BUT she was unable do anything about it. Can’t correct the bill or refund. Only thing she did was offer me a «free detail of my car» IF I WERE TO REMOVE THE BAD Unilocal REVIEW.
I told her that the review is what it is: a completely accurate description of what happened. I told her the only way I would reconsider the review is if their Service Manager (Roger Fong) were to call me, apologize, and have a decent conversation about their practices — like a normal person… She said she would check into that.
Well, it’s 3 months later and no call. [Why am I not surprised?]

Was in the market for a Honda Accord Sport and went to the Honda dealer in Reno and they didn’t make a great impression. Went to Michael Hohl and we’re outside looking for quite sometime. We had to go inside and hunt for a salesman. I told Ms. Peterson what car caught my eye and we went outside to look at it and take it for a test drive. She was great. We get back and I tell them I want to buy it. I paid cash and still had to fill out a credit application and go through all that even though I paid cash. The finance guy we dealt with was rude and annoyed by the questions my grandma would ask. I had wanted the rim and tires from the sport model on the ex model that I got. So we worked that out and the manager told me it could be done. Turns out it could not be done that day and I would have to come back. I live 80 miles away/​AN HOUR AND A HALF DRIVE AWAY. So the manager said he would fill my tank when I came back to get it the tires changed. On the what we Owe paper it said nothing was owed. So we pointed that out to the finance guy and his attitude got even worse and he called the manager to verify what we said was true and begrudgingly made a new what we owe paper. Will not buy a new accord from there when the time comes because of him.
I go 3 days later to get the new rims and tires and the service department tells me it’s going to take 2 hours to change it and I had got there at 4 and they close at 5 mind you the manger said it’d take 20 minutes tops when i did get them changed. So i drove 160 miles round trip for nothing. I went back yesterday and got them changed, adding 240 unecessary miles to my brand new car. The gas was not filled up either times I came. The saleswoman was great and personable, the other staff not so much. I will not be buying a new accord here when the times comes.
EDIT*2 AND A HALF WEEKd LATER* I just received a call asking for my mailing address so they could send out the green slip for the DMV. These people are incompetent. I not only filled out a credit application despite paying cash which showed my mailing and physical and ALL the other paperwork I filled out with my mailing address! We specifically told them we do not receive mail at our physical address as mail is not delivered where I live. We only receive mail at our P.O. Boxes which we told Jamie, finance guy we dealt with. I thought paying cash we wouldn’t have to ride around 3 weeks later with out license plates because normally when you pay cash all the paperwork is done in days. Not weeks! I’m still upset that they DID NOT honor their promise to fill my gas tank. Very dishonest and just as if not more sleazy than a used car dealership of lemons. Do NOT buy here if customer service and honesty are traits you’re looking for when buying a vehicle.

This has to be the rudest car sales in the West, cannot believe they treat their potential customers so badly. We went to them with the intention of buying a car, we were greeted by a sales person who looked like we interupteded his computer game, we explained what we were looking for and he walked us all over the lot never showing us a car, then took us inside and turned us over to a woman who was too busy on the phone to be bothered by us, she in turn gave us to a salesperson who then told us we could not afford their terms. what? they did not even know us, We left and bought a Toyota at another dealer who was happy to sell us a car, do not understand how this place stays in business

Paint is dissolving off my 4 yr old Honda Fit and Service Department couldn’t care less. Their service manager, Roger Fong, has some of the worst customer service skills I have had to displeasure of experiencing. Two months since I have approached them about the problem and all I’m told to do is sit and wait… while my paint continues to dissolve. Additionally, their customer service rep tried to help, but ultimately told me she was powerless in getting anything done. Will not be returning for service, much less to ever purchase a car, from this group.

What’s funny about this place is there going to tell you anything and everything to buy a car. They’ll butter you all up. I bought a car from there and the next day went in for questions and the same manager who introduced himself and had me feeling important acted like he didn’t know who I was and let them know my concerns about the car. No one was willing to listen. I honestly wanted to be like here are the keys back and have a nice day. Seriously don’t buy a car from here cause their more worried about getting the sale then getting you what’s right!

My wife and I had been new car shopping over the weekend with little success. I called Hohl Honda and was greeted by Sean. I asked if they had any 2016 Pilots on the lot, he told me they had 4, asked me if I wanted to make an appt to see them we set a time for a few hours later.
My wife and I were graciously greeted by Lindsey who showed us the 4 Pilots in stock. As we were walking inside and out we were welcomed my other employees and managers, who were very nice. I was wearing my Veterans hat and a lot of people came up to me to thank me for my service as well. Lindsey was wonderful, answered each and every question throughly and never made us feel pressured to buy.
Needless to say we purchased a 2016 Pilot with 8 miles on it. It was a pleasure doing business with each and every person there including the Finance Manager Niki who was amazing!

Just bought a car here. Was looking for a used vehicle. Logan, Joe, and Danny treated me and my wife very fair, but it took a couple of visits. I wasn’t sure what I wanted, but they showed me what they had, were patient, and then they had a used car sale. With their help we got an outstanding deal. Truly felt like they were trying to help, unlike Dolan Mazda. Very happy with our purchase, and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank-​you Michael Hohl Honda!

THESE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO SELL CARS… THEY WANT TO DO CORPORATE INVASION OF PRIVACY CHECKS to see how much they can screw you and I out of… On 10 Sep 2015 my wife and I walked on the the lot with 15K in our pocket. We found a car my wife and I liked and could afford. Wanted a price. Salesman refused. Wanted me to fill out credit check report to get a price. (For a cash sale?) And I guess for a FBI background check, CIA check, a retinal scan and maybe even a rectal exam before they would quote me a price. WE walked off the lot for good!!! Go to hell Holn… I would recommend you go somewhere else, ANYWHERE ELSE…

Was highly disappointed, when driving from out of town, we needed assistance in looking at our car briefly to make sure a squeaking noise was not a huge problem. We suspected it may only have been a loose belt that needed an expert confirmation. Not only did they not work us into their schedule, they could not even recommend a reputable alternative.

Excellent pricing on my vehicle.

I purchased a brand new Honda many years ago (10 years ago) and the experience was superb. From the buying to service, people seemed genuine and interested in customer service.
Ever since the service has been going down hill fast.
The latest incident is when my son took his car for an airbag recall. The people at the service department talk to my son into $ 1400 extra repairs which my son agreed to it.
When he went to pick up the car the bill was considerably higher.
My son never authorized that. They added all kinds of charges without my sons knowledge.
Steve Dix got involved and agreed that the charges were excessive and without approval so my son paid the $ 1400. Great job to Steve for at least correcting the mistake. Steve was also courteous and friendly.
When my son drove the car he noticed that the radio and navigation system was not working anymore and the car was shaking badly.
He took it back and they were unable to help him. They pretty much told him there is nothing they can do to correct the situation because they cannot figure out what’s wrong with the car, as far as the radio/​navigation system he needed to replace it for a substantial amount of money since it was out of warranty.
A few days later my son took his car to another place in Reno this time and within 10 minutes they found exactly what was wrong with the car. The constant velocity (CV) joint in the front axle was worn, which they replace and thus solving the problem with the car shaking.
I cannot understand why Honda in Carson City couldn’t figure out the problem?
In addition my son was able to fix on his own the radio and navigation system, just simple connection issues. The dealership at Hohl told him that he needed to replace the entire system.
My son did talk to Matthew Hohl, however, Matthew was unwilling and unable to help in any way. Complete waste of time talking to Matthew.
I do believe the dealership and Mr. Matthew Hohl are struggling with Courtesy and Integrity. (Aside from Mr. Dix, he was the only bright spot in the whole dealership).
My son also he was telling them he is in the market for a brand new Honda,
however no one was listening. They were too busy arguing and trying to prove my son wrong.
My son this week purchased a brand new Honda from the Reno dealership, since
he is loyal to Honda brand.
I do believe Michael Hohl did not grow his business by not believing in integrity and honesty, something his son never learned.

Brought wife’s Honda Pilot for service at 1pm. I did not have appointment and they said it would not be ready until next day 3pm. Within an hour they called me asking to replace all fluids, car was just over 30k mileage. I checked online service recommendation and didn’t see anything other than oil change recommended. I declined fluid change and asked them to do only oil change service not trans. service they recommended per dummy sensor. Car was ready at 4pm. Even though I asked them to do only oil change they went ahead and did transmission service despite me telling them on phone to do only oil change.
Too many inconsistencies by service rep. so much so I cannot trust their service work because they failed to honor my phone cancellation of transmission service.

Joe and the whole crew were fantastic, they were patient and helped us get the deal that we wantef

I will never buy from any of their dealerships.
I want to start by saying I did email the dealership last week after my horrible experience to see if this was just a big mistake. The fact that they never responded tells me not only do they not care but this is how they do business.
It all starter a week ago Thursday night.
I called Michael Hohl’s and asked about a new CR-​V EX. They told me that they had 2 in stock of the color I was interested in. I needed to set an appointment and I would have the car waiting and would be working with the Sales manager. My appointment was for 9 am last Friday. I arrived at 8:45 and the car was not out front. The manager was not there. They then told me they didn’t have either of the 2 cars they told me they had at 4:10 the night before. Even if they had really (I don’t believe they ever had them) had sold 2 cars on the same model in just a few hours they owed me a call before I wasted my time money and gas. They forced me to make an appointment and they didn’t keep it or have the cars they promised. Then after all that they wanted me to make a deal with them
I would trust them ever.

Wow. Is it mandatory to be a jerk to get hired to work at Michael Hohl Honda? It seems so. What can I add that the many other 1-​star reviews haven’t covered? Steer clear of this place.

The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. The dealer Sean actually hung up on me when I asked him a few simple questions about the car, after I had to call him back. He stated to me, he was too busy to sell me a car, when I was ready to purchase today. Do not go to this dealership!

Horrible customer service, worst up selling in any service department I have ever dealt with. You may do a service and the next time you bring the car in they tell you that you need it again, even though its a 30k or 60k etc service and they try to sell you the service every 3−5k miles. We purchased our vehicle from Michael Hohl Honda and have been disrespected and treated like trash since. Stay far away from here, highly advise to go elsewhere to purchase or service a honda.
I was hung up on during a service call due to the service member not being able to up sell me on services. I was told that even after many tire rotations that the tires on the front were better than those in the back, when I took to another service specialist at a different location I was told otherwise.
Just stay away from and Michael Hohl Auto dealer or service location.

My experience here began pretty good. I was a first time auto buyer, and knew ahead of time I’d probably have a rough time financing due to that. I came in tow with a trade in and $ 3000 cash, with my eyes on a vehicle that the trade in value and cash, paid for half of it off the top. This was over a year and a half ago, and I enjoyed dealing with the guy in the internet dept. I forget his name but he said he was there for 20 years or something close, and he was helpful assuring me I’d get a car. I didn’t get the car I wanted, but rather one with much higher mileage for about $ 2000 less than that practical brand new one. It’s my own fault for not thinking it over for a day, but I was basically sold on the fact I needed payment history on my credit report and could trade-​in later yada yada… I know I’m a sucker.
The vehicle I have now and bought that day is great, again not what I wanted exactly but the experience and staff at the time were so great I honestly didn’t bother with any buyers remorse feelings. Nearly a year after getting it my husband returned to the dealership with a question about the warranty, and virtually the whole staff had been replaced and were a bunch of jerks! They basically hurried him out of the door and said it wasn’t their problem. I get it, but still, they could’ve been nicer.
So then I refer my brother and parents to get a vehicle there, and they both purchase one. They told the salesman I refered them and he told them theres some deal where I can get $ 100 from each of them if they purchased a car. They did, and I waited to hear about it. Nothing. I email Michael Hohl asking about it, and got ignored! Not even a response… It’s beyond offensive all the money I sent their way including my own and I don’t even deserve a response about this referal program… I would’ve even been content if there was no such deal, but at least confirm that.
Needless to say, it’s clear the sale and the money are all that matter here. I’m in search of a new car again and was certain I’d return, but not with the new staffing they have and the way I’ve been treated since…

If you’re in Reno or the surrounding area DON’T take your car to the local dealer. Go to Carson City and go to Michael Hohl Honda. They are the exact opposite of the Bill Pearce team. Not only did they get me in but they went way over the top to fix my car. When they didn’t have the part (I drove 80 miles to get here) they ordered it for the next day and reimbursed my gas and time with free services. Hohl service understand that they are in a «Customer Service» industry and understand what that means. I am completely blown over and will bring my car here FOREVER!, and it’s 80 miles from my house… That is what true service is worth to me.

I bet it’s really hard for a car dealer to get a 4 or 5 star review, but let’s face it, their ultimately responsible for this fact. If they could negotiate like gentlemen and women, the customer may actually leave happy about the fact they purchased a vehicle. Instead, customers leave exhausted and resolved to the fact that they got the best deal they could.
Rodney was the fantastic salesperson who showed us a beautiful pre-​owned Honda CR-​V and took us on a great test drive up HWY 50 toward Lake Tahoe. We literally fell in love with the car and were excited to get back and get the purchase done, but we didn’t tell him that. When we sat down at the desk I told Rodney to please come out with your best foot forward. Unfortunately we lost Rodney and got Derek, «the closer», who came out at full sticker, insisting that I put a counter offer down on the paper. After about 20+ minutes back and forth, I decided to play along and countered with a price that was about $ 12k less than the ask. Derek wasn’t happy, but I succeeded in bringing the sales manager out of the cage to finish the fight.
I made him run through every car sales tactic in the book, and he was a good liar under pressure, maintaining composure all the way until the end. Unfortunately, being in a smaller market with time against us, I wasn’t able to use my typical counter tactics to fight the good fight (Friends have followed my lead and done very well. if you want to know more about this, just send me a PM). But in the end we ended up buying the car under invoice, which is a victory in any one of these battles.
