Paul S’s Beer Club UYE at Lake Tahoe Brewing Co May 2015

Just like Robert’s Monthly Breakfast Clubs, I had yet to make it out to one of Paul’s Monthly Beer Clubs. The dual-​UYE was the perfect opportunity to finally make it to both of them. I had been to Lake Tahoe Brewing before for lunch and was impressed by it, so I already knew this would be a hit.
The private room we were seated in was quite warm, which was so weird because the room right next to it was really nicely air-​conditioned. We had several people working on getting the room cooled down, but even after the hours we were there, it never really fully cooled down. Oh well, I guess we got used to it eventually.
We had a pretty large group and after rearranging the tables several times, we found a good configuration for Cards Against Humanity. This game is quickly gaining popularity at our Unilocal Events! It’s always fun to play with people who had never played before.
I stuck to the Cucumber Blonde beer for the day. Very light and refreshing and not at all «too-​cucumbery». (That’s totally a word.) I did have a taste of the smoked porter and double IPA. I’ve had a sample the smoked porter before, and just like then, I didn’t pick up on the smokiness. The double IPA was pretty good, although too hoppy for my tastes. We also shared some food — the bacon popcorn (which I’ve had before) was still amazing, the wings were nicely spiced, and a couple of their pizzas.
After a few beers and food, we were given a tour of the brewing area, some background of the company, and where they’re going in the future. It’s always nice to learn more about a great local business and to learn about their efforts to succeed even more.
Overall, a great afternoon with good food, beers, and friends! Thanks to Lake Tahoe Brewing for the warm welcome and fantastic service and to Paul S. for organizing everything! We hope to be there for more beer clubs in the future!

It’s pretty awesome when the student becomes the teacher, and Paul S took me to school on this one!
Paul’s been planning these Beer Club UYEs for about 7 – 8 months now, and each one he’s done is better than the one before. Reading the reviews over that time has been really fun for me, as I’ve gotten to see first hand the way he creates them as an opportunity to get to know a business and the people that run it. I like to think that’s something that he might’ve learned from me, but then again, Paul’s a really smart guy and he knows just what his fans… I mean attendees are looking for from these events.
I thought there was no way he could top the experience he gave 30 folks at High Sierra Brewing Co., when he had arranged for a tour AND a private dining room setup INSIDE the brewery itself, but then he went ahead and took us down to Carson to learn all about a really interesting, and rapidly expanding brewery called Lake Tahoe Brewing Co.
For this event he had us setup in a private room once again, and I think he finally got to feel a little of the heat from the stress of things not going exactly as planned. Or was that the hot air coming off the pizza oven being piped overhead through the ducting? No one really knows, but the room was pretty darn hot. Thankfully the company and beer was cool, so we all toughed it out and had a great time sampling the brews and bites and playing Cards Against Humanity, while the kiddos played Go Fish with earmuffs on!
After a while Paul introduced us to Michael, the owner and brewer, who took us on a tour and told us the story of the brewery, where they’re headed, and what we can expect from them in the future. It’s an impressive story for sure, and I’m very excited to see the expansion and success of this seemingly very well thought out business.

You’ve done it again and I’m sure you’ll keep doing it into the future. Next thing you know the Monthly Beer Club won’t be just drinking beer, you’ll be brewing it too! Congratulations on all the success, and may it continue on into the future FOREVER!

I admit it. I wasn’t going to stay. I was going to stop by and «make an appearance.» I don’t drink beer, we had just pigged out at the UYE MBC and well, I wanted to go see a movie that afternoon. Then, I WAS FOILED. Just like Brokeback Mountain, «I can’t quit yew.»
A good number of those of us at breakfast wandered over here at 3 pm and Paul S had set it up so that the Lake Tahoe Brewing Co. set aside the back room for our group. Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn’t working, so it was a bit stuffy at first in there, but once we plied ourselves with ice cold drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), we were fine. I loved that they played music and lit candles and had a drinks station with ice cold water set up for us.
Michael T brought Cards Against Humanity and hilarity ensued. All I will say is «FINGERLINGS» and «CANAL BEADS.» It was my first time playing that game and totally got a kick out of it. You know you’re in trouble when the first card you ever pick up for this game says, «Peeing a little in your pants.» And the second one says, «Masturbation.»
The staff took great care of us, we tasted a few items (big thumbs up for the wings, the Hungry Aaron pizza — OMG, I have not stopped dreaming of this pizza, damn you, Michelle S! and the s’mores — all really good.
I will say this — I love love love thin crust wood-​fired pizza. My fav pizza places are Grimaldi’s and South Creek. The Hungry Aaron pizza here (I just ask for no olives, I hate olives), bar none, is my favorite and has just de-​throned those two — less expensive and much closer to me!
One other really cool thing — some of the drinks are served in glasses in the shape of a beer can. I WANT ONE.

Awesome Beer Club UYE!!! We had our own big room in the back. It was warm but we made it work. Our servers were OUTSTANDING! Drinks were always coming, food was fast and there were no billing issues for such a big group. We assembled the table so that we could play a big olé game of Cards Against Humanity while we enjoyed the beer and food. I had the Belgian Ale. It was a great beer. And of course I could not resist ordering the Hungry Aaron since it is my new favorite pizza ever.
Lake Tahoe Brewing Co is a great restaurant/​bar. It has a great vibe and awesome service. The beers selection is great and the food is delish! Great place to just hang with friends for a while and enjoy.

This was a fun event. The service was excellent the company was fun and the food we tried was all very good. Quite a few things ended up making the rounds.
I arrived early and had a couple drinks at the bar before others in the grippy showed up. The bartender was friendly.
Instead of seating our large group in the main customer area, we were given a separate room where they provided ice water with lemon, candles, and music. The tables were set nicely with cloth tablecloths and napkins as well as plates and silverware. It all looked very nice.
Danielle and Brittany were our servers and happily gave us separate checks. They combined my new orders with my previously started bar tab. I ordered a Belgian Whittier followed by a Cucumber (something I can’t remember). I enjoyed both of these light beers.
Various food items were purchased including a bacon popcorn that was sweet and hot with bits of bacon, the Hungry Aaron pizza with olives and Hungarian peppers was excellent (I would order this again, for sure), the wood fired wings were delicious and Daniel L showed us a great way to get the meat of with very little effort. For dessert we ordered the Table Side Fired S’mores. A fun desert that we got to make ourselves. Came with a hot blue flame, sticks for roasting marshmallows, Graham crackers and Hershey chocolate. Nice way to end.
Michael T brought Cards Against Humanity and we played one full round before we were given a tour of the brewery. Mike, the owner is excited about his product and the future of his business.
This was a fun event and I hope Lake Tahoe Brewing Co. succeeds.

Background — Part of the double UYE day in Carson City after finishing up at the MBC and now it is time for some beer.
Atmosphere — Candice set us up in the private room in the back of the restaurant. I was fine in the room but the group indicated it was warm. Candice knew it too and tried to get the room to be cooler for us. The setup of the brewery is great, it is warm and welcoming.
Food
Drinks — It is all about the beers and they make a great variety of styles. Their beers are cutting edge and exciting.
Food — I had some of the bacon popcorn, I could have ate that all day with the beer. My wife order pizza while I was getting the tour. Sadly I did not get any. But I know be back to have some as my wife has told me the drive from north Reno is not an issue as this pizza is that good.
Service — The staff was great setting us up in the back. We took over that room like pros, moving tables around so we all could talk and playing our Cards Against Humanity. That was the first time playing the game. I am surprised we do not own it yet. One the challenges we presented to them was the need for separate bills, they did not even flinch on that request and executed perfectly. Michael C., the owner, met us after his work at their new Fernley location. The place has not opened yet. He greeted us warmly and then offered to give us a tour. During his tour he explained their plans and how they are executing it. So exciting how he is bringing in so many different talented people to do this. The brewing area is small but their plans are big.
Future — I know I will be back; the next goal is to visit their other locations when they open.

Loved this one. Even though it was a little warm in our private room. It was really nice getting GREAT service from Danielle and Ashley.
Through the time there I ordered up a tasty Jasmine cocktail, margarita pizza and some house wings. Pro tip. House wings are so tasty and

Paul always prepares his events so well and they are well oiled machines. Thanks again to Paul for putting this on… and double thanks for doing our combo Field Trip!

This was the first time we attended UYE beer club gathering. Thank you Paul for this fun club.
We were at the big special room and sat with long tables and ordered some beers & Pepsi for me & some people ordered appetizer to shared.
Then we played the fun game and we love it. We laughed together and had a good & fun conversation.
One of the owner, Michael took us down to the brewery and explained how the beers are made, pretty dang cool.
The beer that my husband ordered were a Belgian ale & French beer something. The taste both of them were tasted hand crafted small batch specialty beers.
The pizza was hand crafted quality, it was yummy. They were a thin pizza but soft and chewy crust. A very nice texture. So perfect because I don’t really like a thick pizza. The sauce was perfect flavor.
