The Home Depot

I was visiting her riding my dirt bike from out of town, helping a friend with a roofing job on his house.
I had to come here numerous times for materials.
Clean store, excellent customer service, and all stocked.
I even pick up some decent firewood to stay warm before the first storm of the season hit.

Many time during rush hour times such as lunch or after work (4−6P M) I have often found more than one isle closed for restocking. Last weekend went and as well, they had three isle closed, of course the ones I wanted to access.
They were not getting items for customer, but stocking.
This is just poor management and no common sense of what times they should not close isles down.
The store is generally untidy and not well stocked with disorganized shelves.
I didn’t know any better until I visited the other Carson Store on Market Street and one in Reno off Del Monte Ranch.
What a night/​day difference as the other two stores are clean, organized, tidy and well managed.
I’ll never understand why the Jacks Valley Stores allows dogs in when the sigh clearly states no dogs allowed. I leave my two at home. I don’t care to be shopping and surprisingly get a muzzle up my rear. That’s a law suit waiting to happen.
I no longer go to this branch and drive the extra to others stores for a better shopping experience.

Always friendly people.
When they don’t know something they find someone that does and stays there with you to make sure you get what you were looking for.

Sure it’s a big box store, but they took care of my needs and were friendly and helpful.

As far as big box stores go, this is OK. It seems to be a notch above Lowes, for reasons I can’t really put my finger on. Perhaps they’re a little bit friendlier, a tad more helpful, just a pinch better stocked, and possibly just a skosh cheaper, since they are across the county line and the sales tax is cheaper. I think.

I’m writing this because I needed new window coverings for my house and the gentleman that helped me went above and beyond to make sure I understood what I was purchasing and getting exactly what I want. With so many options, I didn’t even know where to begin and Brian Miles guided me through the process from start to finish. He was very friendly and knowledgeable — I was even able to take advantage of the last day of a 30% off sale and saved over $ 1000.00! Thank you!

Decent home improvement store. Could have a better assortment of hardware; nuts, bolts, etc. Could be better with customer service.

Shopping/​Communicating with Home Depot is always a hit or miss experience… my most recent is definitely a «MISS».
I’ll start by thanking the associates who did their best to deliver good customer service. Crystal Olvera helped me choose a product for my home a few days ago and entered my order in their computer so all I had to do was call back and complete it after choosing a color. She was very helpful. But things went downhill from there…
I called the store this morning and after 13 minutes, they finally found someone I could talk to. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a clue how to help me. He did a good job finding another associate by walking through the store and finally giving her the phone… oops, she didn’t have a clue either so I was transferred again…4 minutes this time! The associate I spoke to next spent 7 minutes trying to access my order in the computer and finally gave up, apologizing and assuring me she would solve the problem and call me back in a few minutes. She was very polite. Unfortunately, I never heard back from her!
Finally, I decided to start from square one again and was able to order the item online in under ten minutes!
SUMMARY: Home Depot’s associates, by and large, are quality people trying to deliver good customer service! Unfortunately, the systems they are working in seem to be BROKEN most of the time. Good people, doing their best, without the dependable tools and systems they need to do so. It’s no wonder they frequently seem overwhelmed and frustrated.

This is a beautiful and well-​managed store on the outskirts of Carson City. We encountered a very helpful and friendly associate.

So due to the industry I am in I have occasion to visit lumber stores and hardware stores on a regular basis. This store has everything in stock to repair most everything on a home, however don’t expect employees to know about common building materials and supplies that Home depot don’t stock but that other hardwere stores have and are vary common.

Three weeks ago I ordered 9 double paned windows from Home Depot Store number 3312 in Carson City. They were to be delivered to my home in 2 – 3 weeks. Five days ago I called them and asked when they would be delivered to my home. The «associate» said they would be delivered on October 12^th. Based on this, I got a waste container delivered to my house and had the 2 window installers that I hired come to my home to start work. They drove 4 hours. This morning I called Home Depot to find out what time the windows would be delivered. After trading calls back and forth, I learned that the windows were «in transit» and the associate wasn’t sure when the windows would be delivered, but it wouldn’t be by the 12^th of October. I then called to speak with the store manager, Aaron Nelson, but, after a long time on hold and being transferred back to the store operator, I found that he wouldn’t come to the phone. I do a lot of business with Home Depot but this is the first time I dealt with the Carson City store. I’ll continue to deal with Home Depot based on my previous experience, but I’ll never deal with the Carson City store again. The Placerville store is closer and I’ve had great service from them. However, with the next Home Depot screw-​up, I’m taking my business to Lowes. I lived on the East Coast for 9 years and Lowes was my store then. I had no problems with them.

I ordered a barbecue online, to pick it up in the store. Sometimes I like assembling my own items, but this time I didn’t feel like it so I included assembly in my order.
After receiving an email notification that my order was ready for pick up, I drove out to the store. My order was not prepared at all. In the end I got a dented, dirty floor display.
To make things worse, this entire process took almost an hour, and they managed to make so many mistakes running my credit card (I think they ran it 5 times) that Discover froze my account for suspected fraud.
Next time, I think I’ll buy somewhere else. This store does not know how to handle online orders.

Home Depot happens to be the closest store of its kind to where Gayle’s Mom lives. There’s also a Lowe’s farther down into Carson City, so at least we’ll have some choice after we eventually move to Genoa and start «learning» more about the Family properties.
This Home Depot is located at the intersection of US 395 and Jacks Valley Road and is at the other end of the shopping area that includes Target, Staples, Ross, and an assortment of small shops. We’ve run in and out of this and that before and today’s trip was for a replacement flood light. Service was helpful, the checkout line was manageable, and this is just the beginning of a long relationship.

I bet you’re wondering why anybody would want to write a review of a big box store. You already know that the prices are very difficult to beat, and you know they’ve probably got what you need, but why in the world spend the time writing a review of a Home Depot?
It’s simple, this store had great help last Sunday. They were patient, thought of things that we hadn’t thought of, suggested future things for us to be aware of, and were patient as we reflected on the shared ideas. Barbara was the key person, but everybody she referred us to was also very helpful.
So, yes a Home Depot is a Home Depot, but this one had the best customer service that I’ve had at one of their stores. Smiles and knowledge go a long long way in a very tough and competitive market.

Normally I love shopping for DIY items to do projects, but on this day they didn’t have what we needed. We were looking for pet safe ice melt, and they only carried a more toxic version. They should at the very least offer two options. So, now my search continues for the right kind of ice melt.

We are building a house, and have worked with Gary of kitchen design, and Larry the store manager, these guys are great! As well are the rest of the employees here. You can just tell that these guys like each other and enjoy coming to work, someone’s doing something right in the employee moral department :)
They will beat all other prices by competitors, and if you spend more than $ 2,500 they send it to their bidding department for further reduction! So far, we have ordered our plumbing and appliances from them, and will be back to get cabinets, counters, flooring, and possibly electrical.
