While the words «honest mechanic» typically sound like an oxymoron, this is the case when it comes to Rick’s Lube. We were referred here by a close friend who has been a loyal customer of Rick’s Lube since it’s inception so we decided to take our car that needed some TLC here. We were expecting a long list of repairs to sift through and decide what we really needed but much to our surprise, we got a call a few hours after we dropped off the car with just a small list of repairs highlighted what we really needed. Rick’s Auto is clean, friendly, honest, efficient and worthy of my business!
We will definitely be back!!!

I had a previous review removed. I want to reiterate that Alex M. pushed me out of the store and threatened to beat me up after I questioned him about a mistake that his associate had made on his assessment of my vehicle. Before this gets deleted, I just want patrons to know that if they recommend an expensive service to get a second opinion. Only deal with Rick and avoid getting work from Josh or Alex… very rude and unprofessional.

Wow, was heading to Santa Monica from Orange County in rush hours and my oil light came on. It was a panicky situation and I noticed this place on Unilocal.Called and the man who answered the phone stayed after hours to fill with oil. I told him to charge me double and he refused. He really saved my day and took care of me when I was in the middle of a long trip. I really wish I had a place like this near me. The owner is a very very nice person!!! I can’t express that enough!!!

I brought my car in because I had a check engine light on and was worried that something major might be in the offing. They called me about 15 minutes after I had dropped it off to tell me that the only things was wrong was that the gas cap was not tightened down properly which set off the alarm.
They didn’t charge anything for this and handled it quickly and professionally.
Integrity counts for a lot with Auto Repair, as everyone knows, and this showed it to me. I’m going to definitely keep them in mind if I need additional service.

Came for a smog check on a Tuesday at 11:30 am and only took about 20 minutes. Fast friendly service. Will definitely come back.

I used to love this place but after the last 2 visits I will no longer be returning. I used to refer people here but not anymore. First incident was with my daughter’s car. She was quoted two different prices by two different people for the same problem. I overlooked it. This last incident is to much to overlook.
I had a leak coming from my 2005 GMC Envoy XL. I had my father look at it. He told me there was a leak coming from a hose and to take it to my regular mechanic. I took it in and their diagnosis was I needed an ENGINE REBUILD. Huh? I have a simple leak and your recommendation is an engine rebuild?! Yes, because it’s leaking coolant. He asked if my car ever overheated, no sir not even once. He said that it would continue to leak then overheat and since my engine block was aluminum when that happens it would warp. All this over a leak? Are you sure? There’s nothing else that can be done? No. Our recommendation is an engine rebuild. I don’t think so. So naturally I refused and picked up my car. My father looked at it. The leak was coming from a faulty heater control valve. He also replaced an eroded vacuum hose. Just to make sure everything was ok I took it to the dealer to have a multipoint inspection done. Other than a problem with my instrument panel (which I knew about but was just procrastinating about having it fixed) my truck was in great shape. So I don’t need an engine rebuild? No ma’am. $ 50 worth of parts and a little elbow grease did the trick.
I have been a loyal customer for the last 6 years. I can’t believe they would try to get me like that. I guess I’m on the hunt for a new mechanic.

I was in the area and needed an oil change, so I came in. And I got an oil change. And it didn’t take very long.

The mechanics at Rick’s are AWESOME! I am very skeptical of mechanics due to past experiences but working with Rick and his crew is a total different story! They replaced the engine in my ’98 honda civic and I am so thankful! I will never take any of my cars anywhere else! Thanks guys.

These guys were fast and very nice when I needed a simple check on my car’s charging system. I was there less than 10 minutes, and everything was resolved! I will be back when more serious problems arise.

I decided to edit my review because of Alex’s apology and also just to let you know that I’m fair in doing all my reviews. I also realized that my review was from 20 years ago and NOT in this new establishment where Alex is managing at this time. So since Alex is so sincere and proud of his management I am willing to try this auto shop once again give the benefit of the doubt to them. I am hoping to get a good service the next time I need some maintenance in my cars. Thanks

Passing this place almost everyday on my work route, the curiosity feasted on my brain. I stopped here on a Saturday and got some work done. These guys were done in less than 15 minutes, however, they are overpriced for a simple oil change. I drive a simple, fairly new Nissan Versa that is a 4 cylinder and I was paying nearly 40 bucks for an oil change.
Convenient is what this place is, but inexpensive is what this place is not. I overpaid about ten bucks for a quicker lube job. If I had a V8 engine or truck, or had an older car that required higher grade oil, 40 bucks would be a steal.

I had brakes and roters put on all around. They were very courteous, fast, gave a fair price and a good work guarantee… definately my new maintenance repair home.

Very friendly staffs. Got in and out pretty fast. Price is pretty much the same as other places.
They also have a small room for you to relax and enjoy their portable A/​C.
Will be back there with my 2^nd car for oil change.
