Total Zen Float

I’m giving it 4 stars because it was everything they said it would be. But it’s just not my thing I guess. It was the longest 90mins of my life. I guess I am just not into all the hippie stuff. Maybe if I had gotten high before going I would have had a better time. Place was clean and well staffed. Could have done without all «how was your experience brother» stuff.

I floated awhile back but the bad taste of this experience has lingered. Where do I begin? The guy at the reception creeped me out. He was raggedy, odd looking and wanted to hug me immediately as a greeting. Awkward.
He showed me to a room with two doors — one didn’t lock properly and the other led to a public hallway out side of their biz. He told me that was the way to the bathroom, really? The float tank looked like a coffin and smelled slightly of gym shoes. Still I’m a brave girl, I showered (why is there a pump dug into the floor) and got in.
It was dark, I could almost forget about the strange guy and the door that wouldn’t lock. Except that I could hear him talking with another guy outside my door. Still I persisted. I really wanted to experience floating. The tank was getting stuffy and the smell of socks over powered me. I had to bail.
The door was difficult to find since there’s no light in the tank. Once I muscled the escape hatch open, someone (creepy guy?) knocked on my door and scared me back into the tank. This was def not the relaxing experience I was promised. You can’t relax if you don’t feel safe.
I paid the guy and dodged his friend’s small talk and hugs. This place is not for me. I admit I chose it because it was cheaper than the one my friends use across town. Wasted money, Lesson learned. I’m booking there this weekend.

I tried floating for the first time on my birthday back in March. I have since then floated several more times. I recommend it to anyone and everyone I have a conversation with. Anything you have going on in your life from pain to over work to anxiety, you name it floating in the tank can help clear all that. For my first float I floated for an hour only and they say first timers should do at least hour and half. Boy were they right, it takes a while for your body to realize you do not have to hold yourself up. Once you get the hang of it, just sit back relax and enjoy the show.

Today was my first visit. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to anyone who will listen. The facility is clean and inspected on a routine basis. The staff is courteous, friendly, professional and knowledgable. I am a combat veteran who suffers from a multitude of afflictions, though it was a muscle spasm/​cramp lasting five days that brought me in. I walked in to a serene waiting/​front desk area where I was promptly greeted by Derek. From the moment I walked in, I was his sole focus. After a good few minutes of pleasantries and small talk (I arrived a bit early for my appointment so there was plenty of time for that), I was shown to the room where I would be floating for the next 90 minutes. I was told about the origin of the tank, the way it works and what to expect during my float, along with a few caveats and «what to do ifs». I followed Derek’s instructions and had the most liberating 90 minute experience I’ve had for a long time. I cannot remember the last time I was so relaxed. When my session was over, Derek was waiting for me to make sure I had gotten the benefits I had sought and I certainly had. I’ll be back for sure!

My second float has me feeling a deep, ultimate sense of glow & gratitude for my existence here on Earth. What a beautiful thing it is to enjoy such luxurys as the Total Zen Float! I had never floated before and my Bf and I went to do an overnight float. It was very relaxing and time flies by while you think in your thoughts, rest and meditate. I can tell that this will get better the more comfortable you are with it so I’ll be coming back for sure. Maybe a routine line monthly or weekly on stressful weeks I could definitely see myself reducing anxiety and making healthier choices. Definitely take a leap of faith & try. You are in full control and completely safe.

I have never tried floating and this was an amazing first experience. I’d recommend doing the yoga first. It was semi-​private and tailored to the two of us that were there. I floated after and it was extremely relaxing. The owners are very zen and friendly. You feel loved and relaxed the moment you walk in. Highly recommend!

This was an interesting experience. I’d been wanting to try floating for awhile now so I bought the Groupon which was very reasonable. I arrived a few minutes early and was greeted and given a pamphlet that explained what I was signing up for. It was very informative and helped prep me for my 90 minutes of sensory deprivation. They showed me back to the area and explained in very detail what I should expect and what to do if I happened to get salt in my eyes and if I should feel tense.
I was very comfortable the entire time but I felt it very hard to relax in complete silence. I agree with previous reviews saying that maybe some music would help ease you into sensory deprivation. The water stayed at a warm temperature and I did constantly feel like I heard a noise (which im sure was in my head). I think total zen gives exactly what they advertise but I may need a little more coaching on relaxation (LOL) and maybe a little distraction for the newbie floaters.

I think it’s great. You’re not checking into the Ritz Carlton, you’re checking into yourself. If you need a fancy exterior and glitter then this place isn’t for you. It is well kept and clean but after reading others’ reviews I think they expected pearly gates and angels.
The energy in this space is clean and clear, I believe deep healing here. Five stars for good energy.
My first float was a gift but I immediately purchased the two float per month package. I see the benefits of this and am grateful it’s nearby. Keep up the good energy!

I don’t know how I managed to live my life to this point 50 something without experiencing and sensory deprivation Float but I’m going on that I’m glad I waited to have my first experience here at totally Zen. the staff made me feel more than comfortable it relieves pain in my body so much so that I didn’t need to take pain medications for 2 days and I haven’t even begun to express be incredible spiritual experience that you can have while floating. I am recommending to all of my children my friends and my family that they float and they Float soon here in Zen. if you have been afraid don’t be structured by the thought of this having new age wing’s. I was so looking forward to my first float experience, but this one will be filed under the best float I never had.
I purchased 4 floats with amazon local and called to make my first appointment.
I was told I could only schedule a float from 8am to 5pm – and only on weekdays.
(they close at 9pm and are open on weekends)
Limited hours were not mentioned in the details of the deal.
After I expressed the limited hours would be an issue, no efforts were made to accommodate me.
There was no, «let’s see what we can do.. . «
There was only «for those using Amazon local, these are the times.»
I’m calling to make an appointment because I am stressed and overextended already. I don’t need stress plus BS.. .
The message I get from all this?
Your Amazon local deal makes you inferior to non-​deal customers.
It felt like a rule made after the fact– «Let’s just stick the discount people in these slots, and save full pay for premium hours.»
My message to total zen float?
All customers matter.
I called amazon local and they confirmed no specific hours were noted in the deal, and agreed to refund the purchase.

Maybe it’s a great place, but I won’t ever know. If I had this much hassle with making an appointment, it makes me wonder what my float experience might be.. .

I’ve lived in the great state of Florida for over a year and a half now and am able to precisely recall the moments (few and far between) that I have realized how odd this state can be.
The first time was when I witnessed two men road rage so hard that they pulled over to the side of I4 and began to fist fight. Both of them. They both made the decision to pull their cars over to the side of a 4 lane freeway, jump out in public and under hazard of 80mph traffic and throw down because of who knows what.
The second time was when I witnessed buzzards ripping the windshield wipers off cars parked in the everglades (because apparently they love to eat rubber).
The most recent time was my visit (s) to Total Zen Float.
Visit #1 — A friend got me a groupon to this location and gave it some pretty rave reviews on how relaxing and mind-​expanding the experience was for her. She reached Zen, The Secret is real life, etc. I was excited because (1) I listen to a podcast that often touts the benefits of these experiences and (2) had really been wanting to check something like this out.
I arrived in a sketchy looking office park but once I walked in the door was greeted by chill music and a friendly guy at an iMac. The décor of the waiting area was very Zen and comfortable looking, and I filled out the required forms and info. The guy explained the whole process to me and was very relaxed, thorough, and excited for me to have this experience with them. Once I got into the room he explained the steps to take, how the tank worked, and how I would know the session was over. Makes sense, right? The only small issue was that there were no earplugs available but he reassured me that it would still be fine and not everyone even really uses earplugs.
I expressed concern that the water would get into my ears and sit there, and noted the fact that I had actually called in advance to see if I should bring anything (bathing suit, earplugs, etc.) and was told that I would be all set. After he reassured me a few times that it would still be totally cool I decided to go ahead and give it a try but as soon as I was in it was very challenging… I couldn’t focus on letting myself go and had to keep my head slightly out of the water. On top of that, I could actually hear some noises outside of the tank (talking, laughing, and movement), which seemed to fully defeat the purpose of the sensory deprivation experience. I tried allowing my head to rest in the water and it was uncomfortable and pressure built up with the water sitting in my ears. Finally, when I plugged my ears with my fingers, it felt the best but my body was in a tense position trying to hold my hands up to my head.
After roughly 20 minutes I decided to get out because I really just wasn’t enjoying the experience at all. I cleaned off and let the staff know what had happened and surprisingly, while there was an apology, the next question was «how will you be paying for this session?»
At first I chalked all of it up to just a bad experience, wrote it off, and left but as I thought more about everything I felt that it would be important to email follow up and let them know about this experience. I emailed them about what happened, expressed that I really wanted to experience the float tank, and let them know that I did everything in my ability to have a great time but was denied that while still paying for the whole session.
They got back to me quickly the next day and we worked out a second visit at a discounted groupon rate. I headed back and this time they had the earplugs (yay!) and was greeted by the same staff member. Once again he went over the whole process and noted that the filter was on but would shut off before I even got in to the tank.
I’m sure you see where this is going?
The second time the filter was literally on the entire session. It was 1000 times better with the earplugs in but the filter pushed my whole body to the side of the tank and made it hard to disconnect and meditate. While the float was very relaxing the distraction of the filter really made it just another time that wasn’t a full experience.
You will note that throughout this review I highlight the helpfulfulness of the staff. They really seem friendly, earnest, and kind and they want you to have a good experience. The issue is that this place doesn’t feel like an actual business but a few people who chipped in to pay the rent at a dingy office building and buy a tank to put in a room. I want to feel safe, relaxed, and clean the next time I try this out and have learned my lesson from this place. I am glad to see that others really enjoyed themselves here and hope that, as this business grows, they are able to address the basic customer needs for this type of service. If someone has a poor experience with something like this, to the point where they actually end early, you should give them a free (not discounted) visit the second time and ensure that the next visit is on-​point.

Very relaxed atmosphere, beautifully decorated waiting room. You enter the tank and are awoken with relaxing music when your session is up. Takes a bit of getting used to but the staff is very informative and makes the transition as effortless as possible. I felt very comfortable going into my first floatation tank session and will be coming back.

Are you kidding me?! I wish I could give Total Zen Float more stars! I am so thankful that this place exists! Totally and completely changed my life! Thank you for giving me the crutch I needed to get deep into meditation. Since I have started floating 7 months ago my life has completely flipped upside down for the better! So many new things I have been experiencing on my inner journey thanks to the flotation tanks and the wonderfully open minded staff!
I just love this place so much! Going once is good but only by going multiple times will you truly experience what floating is all about! They have the best prices in the COUNTRY! For a monthly membership at TZF (100 – 150.00 depends on the package) you can float an unlimited amount (once a day) every month. In other major markets you will easily be paying the same amount for just ONE float! There isnt a chance in hell I would ever go any where else! The staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel you have always belonged there. The place is clean, the location is safe and booking an appointment is super easy.

I’ve been at TZF for two months and one thing you get by becoming a regular is socializing with the guys who run the place.
The owners have awesome personalities and completely chill vibes.
And, if you don’t feel like talking (we all have our days) than take a seat in their lounge area on their comfortable couches and grab a drink while you wait ;)
As for the float, the first time you try it you’re going to like it.
The second time you’re going to love it!
And after the third time you will literally walk out feeling like 1000 years of bullshit has just been lifted from your life.
It’s kinda cheesy haha, but you will feel reborn!
It all sounds great but what’s the cost?
These guys at Total Zen Float are extremely generous in their pricing.
I believe it’s $ 50 for a 60 minute session… Compare that to the guys in Miami and LA who charge $ 100 and hour for the same deal. And don’t get me started on Massage Envy lol :)
The more you float, by the way, the more you save!
Overall, this place has great management and a great offering!
But hurry quick, every week I come in to TZF they tell me how great business is doing and all their plans of expanding to accommodate more floaters! Enjoy :)

I tried this place earlier this year before many people had heard about it, so I was a little confused when I pulled into the parking lot of what looks like a kind-​of-​sketchy strip mall. Initially, I thought I was in the wrong place and expected to see a «Call Saul» law office, but I did see Total Zen Float on a door and decided to chance it. I then fell into this place, literally. There’s a step as soon as you walk inside which they don’t warn you about. «Might wanna put a sign up,» I said to the dude behind the desk, who didn’t seem to give a shit about the deadly step.
I was at Total Zen Float partly to relieve stress and partly to see if I’d have vivid, cool hallucinations like that episode of «The Simpsons» where Lisa trips from floating and re-​evaluates her life. The two dudes working there said this was possible, but mainly they were just emphasizing not to get salt in my eyes.
Step 1: Get naked and shower
Step 2: Insert ear plugs
Step 3: Get into water dungeon, pull the lid down, float on your back and achieve zen
I floated for a while, and it was pretty odd. I felt very vulnerable floating naked in a room with two doors, one of which faces an unattended, accessible hallway, but after twenty minutes or so I surrendered. It felt like floating in space without the fear of spontaneous combustion. My body was light and airy, and I felt like I was falling, and then the moment was over. «BANG!» I heard through my ear plugs. I thought somebody had broken into the room, so I threw the lid up and discovered I was still alone. Still, zen was over and I couldn’t identify the source of the bang. I decided to spend the remainder of my time floating on my stomach like a manatee, violating Step 3’s «stay on your back.» I got salt in my eyes and had to blindly fiddle for the lid to release me so I could race to the shower and prevent my eyes from becoming burnt-​out sockets.
Did this experience turn me into a believer? No. I achieve just as much relaxation at home in my bath tub with a glass of cheap Chardonnay without the fear that somebody might walk in on me. If you are desperate for quiet time and cannot go home without somebody pestering you, then you probably need to be alone in a tank or consider relocating to a place where those people will never find you. If you already have an outlet for stress relief (yoga, painting, leaving smart-​ass reviews on web sites) or have trust issues with the idea of being naked any place other than home, a hotel room or a car, then you probably don’t need to open your wallet for this one.

Husband found an offer on Groupon for both of us to try «floating». It was an interesting experience. The outside is kinda sketchy (and not to mention in the middle of nowhere) and I would not have gone in all by myself.
I have a some reservations and suggestions for this place. For instance, the décor is pretty much nonexistent-​maybe painting the walls of the rooms a dark color would be a good choice.
Also, I have no idea how sanitary the water actually is. They didn’t seem to clean/​remove anything between visitors (as we watched someone else go right in after my husband). I mean, what’s to stop someone from peeing in the water??! EW. Plus, you’re supposed to not wear anything in the water. The water is slimy and extremely salty – be careful not to get any in your eyes because the burn is insane! (Yes-​speaking from experience).
I think I would have enjoyed my experience more if the tank was bigger and I didn’t keep touching the sides. Oh, and I could hear the guys at the front laughing and joking & I would have much rather been listening to relaxing music during the whole «float» and wish that could have been an option (for people like me who find that helpful to relax).

This was an experience like any other I have had before.
I experienced my first floating experience yesterday. I can honestly say, it was a life changer.
I initially had a few hesitations going into it. I do not typically get claustrophobic, but the thought of being closed in a tank of water did make me nervous. Before I hopped in the tank, all of my questions were answered, and my worries were erased. I was escorted to my room, and given a detailed rundown of what to do, what to (or what not to) expect, and tips to make my experience a good one. Everything I was told was extremely helpful. The best tip was «don’t go into this with any expectations. And, I didn’t. My frame of mind was «this hour is for me to relax, and unplug myself from the world. I also suffer from chronic back pain, and I was anxious to get to soak in massive amounts of Epsom salt for an extended length of time.
After starting my soak, I admit, being enclosed in total darkness did start to get to me. However, you can leave the tank at anytime, you are in complete control. I focused on my breathing, and quickly began to relax. Floating in the tank reminded me of being a child, and just floating in the bath tub. I was was in heaven. It is recommended that first time floaters float for 90 minutes. This is because it takes a while (for first timers) to truly relax, and get acclimated. I do wish that I had chosen 90 minutes, instead of 60. I still had a great experience, but, just like they said, by the time I was able to completely clear my mind, it was time to get out of the tank.
The entire process was less nerve racking than I thought it would be. You shower (in the room) before, and after you float. They have earplugs that you can use to keep the water out of your ears, but I recommend that you bring your own. The entire experience was enjoyable, the staff was not only helpful, but completely comforting. Such a pleasant place, and people. I will be purchasing one of the packages so I can continue this process. My back feels less tense, and I slept like a baby that night. Having that time to myself to unwind was one of the best things I have done for myself. I plan to continue this.

Fantastic experience. The only one of it’s kind in the Orlando area.
I had just heard about sensory deprivation floating a few weeks ago and upon research, I knew I had to try it. I searched for locations in Orlando and this is the first spot that popped up. I went and booked a time and then that evening, I went to PechaKucha 20×20 — Orlando and one of the speakers mentioned it again. I knew it was going to be awesome.
As a beginner, I do wish their website offered more info but I dug into their blog and found Floating Tips (
). I also did some research on my own. You are told not to have any caffeine at least 4 hours ahead of your appointment and eat a meal 1 hour before. Do not shave the day of either. These are tips they provide when you schedule your appointment. When I arrived for my session, I was a few minutes early and the location, while not much from outside, is very calm and relaxing inside. I grabbed their pamphlet «Beginner’s Guide to Floating» and took a seat. Why don’t you have this on your website, TZF!!! This was awesome info!
On the front a quote reads «Being in a float tank is like lying in a hammock… on the moon.» On point! It does feel like this once you relax and drift.
**Beginning Tips:
— Book at least an hour and ½ for your first session so you have time to get acquainted and actually relax in the tank.
— Bring shampoo and conditioner to wash your hair after. They have shampoo but that’s it and your hair is going to be caked with salt if you do not wash it immediately.
— If you don’t like your bare feet touching the tile in the shower, bring flip flops. You shower before you get in and when you exit.
— Use the restroom before you head into the tank.
**What to expect:
— You have your own room with a private shower.
— They provide ear plugs.
— It is an enclosed capsule and the water is body temperature so you can not tell where the water and where your body meet.
— You go in completely naked.
— You may exit the tank at anytime you want.
— There is 850 lbs of epsom salt in the water, so don’t worry about sinking, you WILL float.
— Noise from the outside does not reach you so you won’t hear anything but your breathing.
— You can not do couples floats, that defeats the purpose, this is a solitary activity meant for you to experience total peace.
— So clean! The entire place was very welt kept and the water in the tanks are filtered 3 times, including a UV light filter, between each person.
— Music will come on when your time is up, this helps bring you back to conscience in a subtle way.
So your first experience, as I am told, is one to just get acquainted with the experience. I can see why, it’s like an experience I have never went through before. It was very unique and special.
After this first experience, I am completely am on board with sensory deprivation floating. However, I do believe the shock of everything to nothing is a bit much. I know it’s been around for 50 years, but when you get in the tank, if the lights were on with some music and then everything faded so you could adjust accordingly, I think that would be less of a shock and allow for an easier transition. Also, since you float, you can feel your feet/​hands touch the wall sometimes. If I was about to drift and touched the wall, I was awoken so not sure but I think a bit larger of a tank would be beneficial. But, it was only my first time so what do I know? I will report back after I try this some more.
DO it, you know you want to experience something this cool! They have great packages and sometimes monthly specials, call to check.

What a strange and wonderful experience! Really enjoyed being in the flotation tank. It’s amazing how much you actually float in this water. Total Zen uses medical grade Epsom salt to give you a super relaxing and extra buoyant water flotation session. It’s a little intimidating, the thought of getting into a tank, laying there in the dark, and closing the cover on top of the tank. It’s not a tub it’s a tank, so it is quite large and spacious. Derek, one of the owners, guided me through the process and he knew the answers to all the strange questions I was going to ask. After my time floating, which was about 30 minutes because this is my first try, I left in a super relaxed and very comfortable state. My back felt better, my attitude felt much brighter too. This is a total relaxation experience I would highly recommend it!
