History

Established in 2003.

Gary started painting in 1977 when he went to work for Carpenter Construction in San Leandro. Gary became John Carpenters main painter and crew leader of the painting department there while also learning most all other aspects of the construction and remodeling field for 15 years. Advanced Painting Systems was formed in 2003. Gary Garcia decided to get his contractor’s license when work became slow in his Foreman’s position with D. mellow painting in San Leandro. Dave Mellow and John Carpenter are still close friends and wonderful references. Their contact information is available upon request. Gary has been the Foreman a/​o journeyman painter for several other local painting Companies over the years. These include; All Area painting in Concord CA, Corinthian Painting and Specialty Services in San Francisco CA, Gary has learned much from each and every company he has worked for and applies all the knowledge he has learned from these veterans in the painting industry

My wife and I contacted Mr. Garcia for an estimate because we wanted to have the interior of our home painted before Thanksgiving. We were planning on having many guests for dinner and wanted to freshen up the look of our dining area. Gary was able to give us an estimate the same day! His pricing was very fair when comparing other bids we had received from a few other painters. Gary recommended that we use Dunn-​Edwards paints because he assured the quality of their products were second to none. After we picked out which colors we wanted Gary began painting our home and within a few days he was done! Gary and his crew were highly professional. I will definitely be calling Advanced Painting Systems in the future for all of my painting needs. :)

We asked Gary and his team to remove popcorn ceilings and texture paint on our current home in the high ceiling living room, 3 bedrooms, loft and family room. Easy going guy — we were on a tight schedule as we wanted to do this before we moved in.
I could see it’s a lot of effort, and he had it done in about a week. Ceilings look great! Popcorn is for movies, not for ceilings! :)
Fair priced as well. Would recommend

Gary was really easy to work with. He was very responsive, did what was promised, on time, on budget, and the house looks great. The pricing fell in line with what we expected, and there were no surprises (which is always nice). He even replaced a ceiling lamp for us with a new one free of charge which was great.

Gary and his crew did an excellent job on our deck. We thought we could stain
our deck ourselves but we pretty much botched the job. Long story short we found
Gary and his company by sheer luck. We headed for the Kelly Moore store and
picked up Gary’s business card amongst the many that were posted. I gave Gary a
call, he came over, assessed the job (even took pictures of the deck) and a day later
we had his bid. Gary’s bid detailed what the job entailed and was reasonable which we really appreciated. Gary had to sand our deck to remove the pressure washer
lines and our uneven application of the product we chose. The deck runs the length
of our home. the property below the deck slopes downward and the deck gets full
sun each day (very little shade time until late afternoon). Gary and his crew, which
was one other fellow each day, dealt with these challenges and the deck turned out looking great. By the way the product Gary worked with is called Storm Shield.
Gary and his crew were on time each day (the job took 1 week) and cleaned up
nicely. We highly recommend Gary and APS — he can use us as a reference and
we intend on using Gary for all our future painting needs.

I recently worked with Gary to have the exterior of my house painted and some inside work on windows and closet doors. Gary was very punctual with getting the quote to me and then was very flexible as it took me longer than I anticipated to follow up. His quote was very reasonable. He was also patient as I chose colors. I was most impressed with the prep work that he and his assistant did on an old house with lots of damage. I also appreciated the friendliness and politeness of his assistant. They were always on time and worked diligently throughout the day on each step of the process from power washing, scraping, priming, and painting. Gary was honest and trustworthy which was really important to me because he did what he said he would. They both showed attention to detail so when I drive up to my house I feel a sense of pride and joy. It feels good to have a newly painted house and if you are considering painters Gary and his assistant are your choice.

We used Advanced Painting Systems for external painting of our primary home in Union City, CA. We had other painters who messed up our house with drips of paints everywhere in our house. When Gary of Advanced Painting Systems came to inspect and give us estimate, the house was partially painted with tapes and plastics everywhere. Gary gave us a very reasonable estimate and scheduled to start work in a couple of days. From day one, we could see how serious a professional he was. He was very meticulous in his work and started doing more things than we expected. (Yes, we have had one bad luck after another with service providers. It was delight to see this for a change.)
But what impressed us most was how easy Gary was to talk to. He was patient in answering our questions, leading us through paint selection, and even touring other homes in the area to see colors that appeal to us.
We are very impressed and pleased with Gary. It is very rare to find a great professional with this degree of understanding and customer orientation and reasonable price. I didn’t have an account on this site. I just created it now for writing this review. This shows how compelling and great his services was for us. Go with Gary and you will find one of the best professionals you ever had.

I was in need of a painting company that was reasonably priced and could complete a job for me under a very demanding timeline. I contacted APS and spoke to Gary who provided me a very reasonable quote and promised to get the job done in time. In fact, I obtained 5 bids and APS was second to lowest out of all bids. I contracted APS for the job.
Gary was very easy to work with and did as he said he would. Gary would frequently keep me updated with the progress of the project, usually on a daily basis. Since I was working full time this was very helpful because I was not able to be on the job site all the time.
APS does quality work and it showed with my project. I was very pleased with the final product APS produced, as our project required a tremendous amount of prep-​work. As a former professional painter myself, I immediately recognized the attention to detail Gary and his APS crew took in completing our project.
I would recommend APS to anyone who needs a quality professional painting company that is reasonably priced and easy to work with.
