0 zero stars. I would not come here if it was not the closest one near work. –In store Average wait time around 6pm =40 mins. –Online order = you still have to wait because the pickup time to them is the«okay, you are here. We will find your online order and start making it now» time. –guacamole= is available if you are lucky. But they will tell you that the guacamole will be «ready in 5 mins» for the next 20 minutes while you keep going back to the counter to check. By that time, you are already done with your meal. –rice(brown or white) = same as guacamole but they do tend to run out of guacamole more often then rice. Avoid this location if you can.

Sorry to say, «Chee Polt lay», once again, disaster. Ordered online 6:30, «ready for pickup 7:15». Told upon arrival at 7:20 they were really busy, and they would START my order«soon»! Really? I am here using a comp coupon from the last disaster… I was just told NOMOREGUACAMOLE! OUCH! OK, so they are going to comp my whole meal… but 4 kids are now not getting their favorite part… Guess things are still challenging here… Hope the new steak tastes good at least… UPDATE: The kids report the steak tastes good! At least that was a saving grace… C’mon Chipotle, make it better here… please?

LACTOSEINTOLERANT/VEGANS/VEGETARIANS BEWARE: This place in particular is horrible with cross contamination of foods. Every time I have gone they get a significant amount of cheese in the guac. I have seen it fall in there, and also seen workers put the guac spoon directly into someones cheese on their bowl and place the totally covered spoon into the guac. I have seen sour cream fall in the corn, and they throw meat around like it’s no big deal if it falls in someone’s food by mistake. Last night was my last straw when they dropped a bunch of cheese in my burrito and said nothing/did nothing, so I walked out since it took 10 minutes for them to just get rice and beans on my tortilla(not including the time spent in the line). I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop meat in the sofritas… Also know that they wont listen to you if you have a special request like«Can I have guac BUT from a new container.» By the time you say«guac» they will already be scooping it into your bowl. Oh and god forbid you explain the fact you’re allergic to dairy is why you want them to change the guac/corn/whatever else the dairy has gotten into by their mistake, they will roll their eyes and give you a dirty look. Customer service did nothing the first time I complained, and it actually got worse after that, the second time(last night) they said they would talk to the service manager and give me coupons(even after I said I would never go to a Chipotle again).

I’ve always had a positive experience at this location. I’ve been coming here for about 10 years. I love Chipotle, but they vary depending on location. I’ve been to several in SF, Oakland, and San Jose — - this one is my favorite! The portions are generous, and everything tastes great. The music is very… interesting. I get a kick out of the wax paper you receive with your burrito if you eat in the restaurant— Chipotle regulars will know what I’m talking about. ;)

This place. Sometimes you need the universe to work, and today with the fine talents of Alex and his colleagues… It did. These folks are heroes. Professional, courteous and kind they make burrito dreams come true. I hope their dreams come true and that the universe is as kind to them as they were to me.

I came here up to 4 times a week back in 2008 – 2009 with my ultimate team and we all loved it. So I had always enjoyed coming here and never had any problem with food or service. I still visit Castro Valley very often, so I still come in every so often, but unfortunately for them, their service has declined exponentially. In the last 3 years alone just off the top of my head, they’ve forgotten to give me the dressing for the salsa on a to go order in which I didn’t realize until I got home, watched my sister get scolded by the employee for making a burrito and saying that’s what she ordered when she clearly didn’t, been told that they were out of salad dressing 3 hours before closing, gotten horrible attitude from the employees, gotten foreign objects in my food, and regret every time i’m eating food I got from this location. Chipotle has been struggling and this location is definitely worthy of closing in order to keep the better locations open. BTW, I think most if not all the problems with this location have to do with the employees. The employees back before any problems arose were all older and worked hard. I’m not saying I have a problem with young employees, but they seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for the ones they to hire.

We used to love this place for the fresh ingredients. Today we were surprise to see no line and later we found out why: my husband encountered a weird object in his salad bowl and we concluded that object was a plastic wrap. I felt so disgusted and angry. Took all our food to the manager. Obviously it’s a surprise to her too. She sincerely apologized and refunded the whole meal. We won’t come back.

Its no secret to my friends and family that I’m a total Chipotle addict, to be considered a chain and«fast food» this would be my #1 go to that I feel serves the more fresh — non processed food. My reasoning for this Unilocal post today is due to the excellent service I received from my past visit this week. Its always nice after a long day of work and stress to go pick up dinner with no hassle, with the help from Carla who I believe was one of the managers greeted us with a big smile even though it was almost time for them to close, food was prepped quick, and you can tell she genuinely cared about serving her customers. It also made me feel welcome that she noticed me to be a regular customer! In addition to employee Tony a taller gentlemen who often rings us up when we dine here is one of the reasons we come back! Thank you both for being professional and welcoming! Pros of this location– Fresh food always stocked Can call ahead to place orders to skip the line Good customer service Clean They have margaritas =) Cons– Would be able to shorten the line some days if the take out phone orders were maybe processed in back house take out

Hi, my name is Stefan and I’m soda free now for 3 months. Just went here today with a friend right after Café 4 down the street. Its not how it used to be with super long lines that snake all the way around the restaurant but the line still had 10 people before us at around 5pm. The dining area was not full either. Lots of empty tables unlike before you know what. Now after this has all passed the only difference I noticed is that they are a bit more careful with the lemons. They no longer let you grab them on your own by the soda machine you have to ask for them at the register. Was that the cause of the food contamination scandal a few months back? Food quality and freshness is great. Ice tea great for you soda free people. A view of the boulevard too at the counter. Its been 6 hours now and no food poisoning… you guys can all come back again.

I stopped in at this chipotle on my lunch break. Even after seeing bad reviews I gave it a shot and I honestly don’t know what all these complaints are about. I received quick and efficient service. The employees were friendly and my food was great. I have no reason to give them anything except the 5 stars they deserve

The one star is not because of the employees, it’s for the stupid process they have that causes you to wait in line FOREVER. I’m thinking I’m lucky to come in only 5th in line but I still had to wait 30 minutes because they have to place the to-go orders first. Dumbest process ever.

Considering the fact that this chain has been hit hard with bad publicity due to food poisoning, and even gone so far as to close their locations for«employee training,» one would think that they would be on top of their game. NOTSO! First, when I was there about a month ago, I noticed that they seem to be in a rationing program for their salad dressing. They serve a drop(maybe a tablespoon, if that) in a 1.5 ounce plastic container. Why bother with the big container? Such a waste. And hello, you know that stuff costs next to nothing to make, so why ration it? Today, as I ordered my chicken salad, I could not help but count the number of times one of the guys working the prep line touched his nose with his hand(Five!) Yuck! When I tried to block it out of my head and eat my chicken salad, I realized that they had downgraded their lettuce to wilty, sad, pre-chopped iceberg lettuce. All sloppy and pathetic looking. This from a chain that advertises«local produce when in season» — I think not. This iceberg was probably shipped across multiple borders. Just gross. I couldn’t do it, tossed the whole thing.

THE worst customer service at a Chipotle. Came in for a chicken quesadilla. Found out for $ 6.50 I can’t even get a side of salsa, that’s $ 1.50 extra… That’s more than a chicken burrito! I had a feeling the quesadilla was in too long, so I asked if it was burnt. They said no. I get home to a burnt chicken quesadilla. I return to speak to the manager, and she gives me a blank stare instead of apologizing… In conclusion, no more Chipotle for me. Take your money down the street to The Burrito Shop.

Oh chipotle … I always crave there burritos and bowls. Food is always fresh here and tasty. They stack on meat here unlike other chipotles are very stingy about how much meat they put, but this chipotle give you the right amount. The only down side to this location is that it is always packed and the line will be long but if you have patience it will be worth the wait.

I came in and had to wait a couple of minutes for them to make some fajitas and freshen up the meats. The line got a little frustrated but I’m usually not one to complain. It was busy and the cook and manager were doing the best they could, it’s understandable. When I got to register they comped us our food for waiting. Excellent customer service.

NONONO. I was thinking«hm i’m super hungry i need a quick pick me up» As I got there, no line so it was a plus and the service was alright. An employee named Jacob was smiling and had great communication with the customers although when I went to get checked out this smaller girl who seemed new perhaps. I gave her my gift card and she took forever to ring me up. I was getting ready to just leave the store. Not a big fan of the store… And on top of that my food was cold once i left the store… that’s how long it too.

If I could give it zero stars, I would! Horrible customer service, always super slow cuz they have 100 online orders that they do before getting to u. They charge u so much for sides when in any other chipotles it’s half the price. Everyone’s attitude in there is like they’re being force to work there! Over all, it sucks!

I love Chipotle but this location has gone downhill! The staff seems to always be changing so service is super slow. Expect at least a 15 – 20 minute wait in line even if there is only 10 people ahead of you. I am currently experiencing this long wait in an empty restaurant. Chipotle needs to come help this location!

If it weren’t for the fact that this is the closest chipotle to my house, I would not be going here. Chipotle is chipotle and in my opinion, it’s always tasting good. Just thinking about that delicious(and healthy-ish) burrito bowl kicks my cravings into gear. So it’s pretty hard to make something that good… bad. But it’s the service here that does it. While that long line does show just how good Chipotle is, it also shows how slowly the servers are going. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes in line if you’re going anytime remotely near peak hours. Then when you get to the front it’s like they think they’re going to run out or something. I’m like, «c’mon bro, I’m a growing girl! Pile on that burrito bowl goodness!» But alas, they must think I need to lose some weight, because the bowls look bigger when the food amount is smaller. The food here is still of great chipotle quality, but I wouldn’t go to this location if I had a closer option!

Don’t bother with ordering online or over the phone. They won’t start making your order until you get there. Last time I went to pick up an order I looked to see who was in the back of the line. That person got served before I did. It would have been faster to just get in line instead of ordering in advance. The food is a nice healthier alternative to the usual fast food. Me being a connoisseur of taquerias however puts Chipotle in the category of Mexican food for White people. This particular location is just terribad. It was closed for«remodeling» for quite a long time before reopening exactly as it was before. Makes me wonder if it was a code violation or was the place just suspended by the health inspector and they made up some other BS reason for it being closed.

I love me some Chipotle. This location blows. Online orders are NEVER correct, neither are telephone orders. The staff is not courteous nor do they follow food safety rules. Two stars are only because, well… the food, if you get what you order, is Chipotle.

I can understand that this particular store is busy because it is the only one in town, but I still am disappointed in the portions they de out. If I’m paying $ 9 for my food, I expect the normal scoop of sofritas, and not the crumbs and run off that are left at the bottom of the barrel. This store continues to disappoint and I hope that their managers read this. People work hard for their money and expect some food. On the bright side if you try calling to talk with a manger, they never answer the phone.

This Store is super slow! They need to put fast type A people at the front! The cashier kept leaving and the servers were super slow! This is not an isolated case! It’s like this all the time! They need an employee like the one in Fremont near the automall area! She is quick and focused!

It’s chipotle, so the food is going to be great(If you love chipotle). I love this location because they do not skimp on the food. I’ve been to my fair share of chipotle locations and this one always gives a lot of food compared to other locations! The line gets pretty long during peak hours though but if you order online, you can skip the long lines.

Oh Chipotle… You are so great in other cities, but not so great in Castro Valley. I would not recommend ordering online past 5pm because they won’t have your order ready when you get there. I keep making this mistake, hoping things will change, but nope. I show up and my order isn’t ready, so they scramble to make it. I’ve ordered online for lunch, and they’ve always had my food ready when I arrive. What’s the deal with dinnertime, Chipotle? The assembly line is packed with eager employees ready and willing to meet my burrito needs, so why can’t you make online orders for those of us who want to predict when we’ll want dinner an hour in advance and skip the line? Answer me that, dear Chipotle. But hey, at least my dinner is hot.

Chipotle is Chipotle… you know what you’re getting and that’s sometimes a good thing. That said, however, this location ALWAYS has 20 people in line! sorry, but i’m not waiting in a line for 40 minutes to get a frickin’ Chipotle burrito!!! Not sure why there are always so many people here… if they are slower than other Chipotles or what, but the last 5 times I’ve tried to go, I saw the line and said, «HELLNO» and walked out. I won’t even bother trying to go to this location again… totally not worth it. Reading some of the other reviews about this place pretty much confirms what I have experienced. Horrible customer service and the line is always way too long and slow moving. Get your shit together, CV Chipotle. Taco Bell is right around the corner on Redwood and they unfortunately have gotten my business the last few times I wanted fast Mexican food.

Lunch time has finally arrived and I made my way to Chipotle in Castro Valley. Time for a Chicken Burrito white rice with cilantro, jack cheese, sour cream, corn, and black beans. The parking lot in the back of Chipotle was packed, yet people were coming and going pretty quick. Inside was no different, there was a long line inside of what looked like high school students, but it was moving steadily. The diverse crew was nice and everyone was smiling. I didn’t have to repeat myself which I liked. The food is hella good here. That’s a given. The only criticism is the way my burrito was rolled, but it did hold together long enough until a little past mid point. Lol Standing in line I did read some of the reviews. The horror, I nearly walked out. But it seems like the crew working this afternoon are a great fit for this place. Pick up the pace just a little more during the rush, keep up the good work in customer service(smile, listen, and acknowledge your customers) and they will come.

Found out during my 1st experience NOT to show up around dinner time even on a week day. The line was about 25 people deep and took about 30 minutes. By the time we placed our order I changed my mind a few times and memorized the menu. I ordered the barbacoa(marinated spicy beef) burrito with brown rice, fajita veggies, pinto beans and hot salsa($ 7.40) Once we got to ordering the rest went fast. The burrito was a good portion with equal parts of ingredients. I loved the meat it had a good flavor. Overall a great burrito. Hubs had a burrito bowl($ 7.40) and enjoyed it. He had chips($ 1.95) and said they were too salty, he liked the medium salsa. Service was good, prices are decent total was just under $ 19.00 and the place was clean. Next time I will come during non busy hours or order on the app. in advance.
