Sal’s Foreign Car Service

Last month my C-​300 was leaking oil, and the last place I wanted to it take it to was the dealer. Hamid already had inspected my car when I moved out here and changed my oil so I figured why not. One month later, no oil and dry as a bone. His prices are competative and the quality of work is very high. This place is now my go to mechanic for my car.

I own a 2000 MBZ E320 and have needed a fair amount of service recently. I find Hamid to be honest and straightforward and his work is excellent and prices fair. I will continue to give him all my auto repair business from now on.

A member of sal’s staff cursed at me, yelling «Fuck you!» after nearly hitting me in the parking lot. I won’t be coming back here again.

The shop is run by one of the most honest individuals I’ve ever come across. I brought my car in because it had major issues with the suspension and a large oil leak. After assessing my car and explaining to me what needed to be done Ahmed proceeded to convince me NOT to do work on the car. He said that in his estimation it just wasn’t worth it given how old the car was and how many other issues it was going to develop in the near future. I find that to be a mark of a true professional and most importantly a sign of an honest and fair human being. I’ve heard from several people on the east Bay Area about how great they are when it comes to fixing cars, but in this instance it was about what they didn’t do that warrants a 5 star rating.

Disappointed! I consider Hamed a friend and a honest person. I can no longer patronise his business or refer.

Jerry is honest and is not a rip off artist. He actually fixes the problems. I had a BMW 745i with problems with breaks, leaks, warning lights, etc., even the dealer in Pleasanton did not fix. The dealership and a European car shop in Dublin charge a small fortune and don’t fix the problem. I could have bought another car. I waited months before putting this in to make sure it was fixed.

Came here for a Mercedes issue. Simply said, it was all a very transparent and reasonable experience with realistic punctual timeframes. I’ve been to many many auto repair shops and know a few things about cars, Sal’s Auto Repair is by far one of the best shops in terms of fulfilling all the positive aspects that define a great business. Sal: «I’ll check it today but can’t promise that we can take care of it today.»
Me: «That’s fine. I just need someone to diagnose the problem.»
That’s sort of how the convo went but you get the jist.
I am never going to any other mechanic other than Sal.

Honest and reliable service. Jerry is a straightforward, friendly guy who makes the process simple. I needed a «major» service at 60k, and he informed me that many places take pride in ripping off folks for this procedure. His quote over the phone was enticing and he stuck to his word. Definitely don’t waste your time looking around… go to Sals.

What a Joke!!! I called and try to ask about the deals they have for smog check in their other site sal’s 2, because I got charge the full price for the service the day before, I know people think it’s only $ 10 difference but the way this guy (i think he own the place) talk to me, telling me if you go to macys and you did not show any discount coupon they will not give you the discount price, so I told him but you they will be happy to adjust that price if you come
Back and ask. But I was amaze what he said after and the tone if his voice (saying to me that hey it’s only F*%#ing $ 10) he told me «IT’S ONLY $ 10 COME HERE TO THE SHOP AND I’ll GIVE YOU $ 10.»
I know a lot a people come here to get their vehicle fix and spend a lot of money I just hope they treat you well.
To SAL’S, I know your not macys or any grocery chain, but if you advertise any deals on services please make sure you put it somewhere in your ad that you must present coupon upon service and you can not get price adjustment after. With all do respect to the owner, i know $ 10 is nothing for you, but I think you need to treat people way better even just over the phone and just trying to put the point across.

I moved to the area from San Diego less than 2 years ago. I had trusted mechanics back home that took years to find and wasn’t looking forward to searching for another trusted mechanic yet again. I was pleasantly surprised to find Sal’s right in my neighborhood. I can’t say enough good things about the shop. I’ve had 3 services with them already and each time has been to my complete satisfaction. The services are done on time as promised and have been reasonably priced. Plus, Hamed is always very helpful and pleasant. I will continue taking my Audi to Sal’s for all future services.

Five stars and I wish I could give six… If you have a Range Rover, you better have a good mechanic. Hamed and his crew are very good and affordable.

I have been taking my 1997 Mercedes E-​420 to Sal’s Foreign Car Service for six years now. Hamed and his team always do a great job! Prices are fair, work is always done professiaonlly and on time. I have NEVER had to bring my car back for something that wasnt done right the first time and they are always flexible and go out of their way to do a great job.

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this place before. They do a GREAT job at a VERY fair price.
I’ve taken my cars (Benz and BMW) to Sal’s and always been given good service. I’ve suggested this place to FOUR people and they all still return. One is my sister and the other sits next to me-​so I had to be certain they’d be taken care of, or I’d hear about it. Of the 4, two drive Lexus, one a BMW, and one drives a Nissan.
I was going to buy an old 450SL. Mentioned it to Hamed (the owner) and he mentioned what years to buy and what years to avoid. Of course, my year was one to avoid. I ignored his advice and went ahead and bought it. A few years later the car needed a distributor. For some reason Mercedes used three different distributors that year and you had to use your VIN to figure out which one to order. Not only was mine the most expensive (naturally), but also it couldn’t be found. Anywhere. It was easier to sell the car before I had to start looking into engine swaps, but I shouldn’t have ignored him.
In another situation, Hamed figured out that the rebuild replacement parts for that car were no better than the part I had, so he sent those back and rebuilt mine. For less money!
Two months ago my BMW needed a Service A, all 4 brakes replaced, and both of my window motors replaced. They had it done in the same day and at an affordable price.
Call ahead and make an appointment. They’ll usually take you the next day. I use the envelopes around front for the early drop-​off. They are one block from Castro Valley BART and there are plenty of restaurants/​shops around if you want to wait for your car.

I have owned foreign made cars for the last 20 years. After the Warranty has expired, I always return to Sal’s Foreign Car Service. I have never had a mechanical problem which Hamed (Owner) hasn’t been able to fix immediately. He and his staff are factory or dealer trained; and know the value quality service. Most service assignments are completed within 6 hours.
I use my car with my work, so being able to have mechanic repars completed right, the first time, is most important to me.
Always ask for Hamed. As owner, and having worked at this Car Service since 1983, Hamed is one mechanic you can really trust.
