Carter Animal Hospital

When I moved to Palm Springs two years ago my dog developed allergies. I had been to two other vets who did nothing but charge me a lot of money for a lot of tests. In frustration, I called Carter Animal Hospital. I am so pleased with the staff and with Dr. Carter. He took my dog off all the steroids, the creams, and all the other unnecessary medications. He put him on one pill and changed his food. My dog is back to his playful, happy self. Thank you Dr. Carter.

I brought my pets in due to positive reviews I read, as well as a few animal organizations of which I had been in contact with, who had given them such high recommendations.
I thought the Carter staff were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.
The doctors there are all incredible!
Both pets I brought them were well cared for by them, and I would highly recommend this veterinarian to anyone looking for a competent group of professionals to work with, in helping or maintaining their pet’s good health.

They simply do NOT return messages or even actual calls — ever, ever!
With that said, I LOVE Dr. Carter, but it is impossible to get an appointment without driving there and actually standing in front of them! I now feel that whatever you have to do to be seen, it is worth it. The other vets are great too. Reasonably priced and they won’t do things just to get your money. If they say it needs to be done — IT NEEDS to be done! LOVE Dr. Carter! Ann at the front desk is great too. Martha, his Assistant, is beyond cute personality wise! I have tried the rest, Carter is the best!

The most amazing and caring professionals you will ever experience … They care for your pet, like your pet is their own! Dr. Reedy takes the time to answer your questions, explain the details of what needs to be done and follows up to ensure your pet gets quality care. Our teacup Yorkie Bella is very high maintenance, sensitive and delicate… we feel very confident in the care and love she gets at Carter Animal Hospital! I am so thankful this veterinary clinic exists. I take all my pets there now for over 3 years. Once I found them, I won’t leave. I volunteer with outdoor cat rescue and they have helped immensely with vet care, advice, and have even helped find homes for some kittens! Rare in these days of corp clinics and the cost is so fair. I can say the staff and vets I have worked with, Dr. Carter and Dr. Reedy, are now some of my best friends… oh and my dogs and cats agree!

I had a horrible experience at the VCA Desert Animal Hospital. Therefore, I decided to go to The Carter Hospital since I saw many good reviews on this site.
Wow, what a bad experience at the Carter Hospital. I told the Veterinarian to check for any problems with my 2 dogs and I just saw the doctor conducting a very rushed exam on one of them and he forgot to check my second dog. The people working there seem to be unorganized and not consistent with the way they take care of the animals. They seem to be very good finding excuses to cover those inconsistencies.
The doctor was very focus on selling medications to me. That is the impression he gave me.
I requested them to clip my dogs nails. They brought my dogs back with sharp unfiled nails. One of my dogs was cutting his ears by scratching them with his nails before the appointment. I was shocked to see how they brought the dog back with weapons on his paws. Well they took them back to file their sharp nails. I just discovered an infected nail on one of the dogs and nobody was able to see such an obvious problem. How can you clip the dog nails two times and not be able to see an advanced infected nail
I will never take my dogs back to that place. I did not have a good experience. I am very good reading people and their actions. I did not read anything good with the way my dogs were handle.
This is all my personal experience and opinion. I expect a good service when I pay so much money. Pet Smart offers much better nail service for dogs for only 10 dollars (filing included). Carter charges 18 for clipping the nails and 10 for filing them ($ 28 per dog).

Dr Reedy at Carter Animal Hospital is the best vet. the very best vet. i have ever been too. She is wonderful with the animals and people. often rare with vets. The staff here are wonderful too. but Dr Reedy is in a class of her own

I have been taking my 3 dogs here for nearly one year now. The service has been exceptional. Both staff and Dr’s very professional and friendly.
The building is modern and rooms and lobby very clean. I was there today with
Lucky and Foxy. Lucky had a growth removed and Foxy 3 teeth. Excellent service
and my dogs were fine. I will continue going back as I’m very satisfied!

Dr. Carter is great. You don’t feel rushed in and out. He takes the time to talk about your concerns. It feels like the «hometown» treatment which we all miss today in a day of technology. A little more expensive than Animal Samaritans but it is worth it. The best part was they didn’t try to sell me meds we did not need. Hope Dr. Carter stays around our area. When most vets are going to corporate thinking where you feel like you are on a time clock it is so nice for someone to give you the time you need to feel comfortable with your decision regarding the one who cannot speak for themselves, your pet. What a GREAT veterinarian hospital!!! Our min-​pin had an infected back and was in some pain. We are new to the area and did not have a vet. I called in the morning and got an appointment the same day. Carter has a very caring and professional staff.
Now our little one is on the way to recovery.

I felt that the concern and care for my «Baby Girl» we’re right there with mine.
I had to leave the area and go back home before we knew what the tumor was. After treatment at the University of Minnesota, for the removal of the tumor, I will have all of the records sent to Carter Animal Hospital so they can continue to be my Veterinarian of choice while wintering in the Palm Springs area.

I have a little 3 pound chihuahua that are something that caused him to have serious stomach aches and pains. I found Carter Animal Hospital after bring turned away by another «animal hospital» that said they were appointment only (and was quite dirty in my opinion). Leaving that other place I found Carter on Unilocal and called them. They said to come right way. When I got there I was amazed at how clean, bright and beautiful the facility was only to be even more impressed with the staff from the reception people all the way through to the examination people. I was worried that they would be quick to diagnose a blockage and recommend surgery which scared me because if Tank’s size, but instead the first thing the doctor said was «I don’t want to do surgery so let’s try everything else first». They X-​rayed him and didn’t see anything on the film, gave him some much needed fluids and anti-​nausea medicine, gave me instructions and sent us home. They said if he wasn’t better the next day to bring him back for a re-​x-​ray at no charge! These people are not in for it for the money! They truly love animals and put their health and well-​bring first. I will only go to Carter from now on!

Dr. Brown is so caring and helpful.
He is so accessible and is so spot on on his evaluations. Usually a drag to go to vet but it’s a pleasure. Martha is so nice there too.
Please use them and you will not be disappointed.

Carter Animal Hospital is in my opinion the absolute best. I have been to many Vets since living in the Desert since 2000 and i find this Veterinary Hospital to be superb. The Staff is wonderful. My personal Vet is Dr. Brown. I have 3 litter mate cats that are 5 years old and he is the only Vet that has helped us with their digestive problems. I am so grateful to him and this Hospital. One of the other Vets that I used to go to advised me that one of my cats had FIV. This is alarming news and caused great concern. I asked Dr. Brown of Carter Animal Hospital to retest my cat and it turns out that the cat does NOT have FIV. If you are not happy with your current Vet or something does not feel right, please get a 2^nd opinion and my choice would be to use Carter Animal Hospital in Cathedral City.

The absolute best vets in the valley hands down! I have been taking my animals here for almost 6 years. They have helped me through some tough times with my dogs and they always fix them up right away! Will never use any other vet. Dr. Reedy and Dr. carter are amazing. Very professional. Prices are very reasonable. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed!

DR. CARTER YOU ARE A HEEL.
On November 14^th, 11 days after my review I received a Certified Letter from Dr. Carter’s Office and signed by Dr. Carter telling me that I was no longer welcome with my dogs at his business. Now I have never met Dr. Carter in the 3 and a half years I have been going there and he did not apologize for his empoyees behavior and his passive agressive letter surmises what a previous review called his «flippant attitude» but it is his business and he has the right to not allow me to go there and allow my dogs to continue on with the Vet. (Dr. Eddy) they have been seeing for years. So remember, if you are a patron of Dr. Carter and you dislike something about their operation, please do not write about it or you will be asked to find someone else to provide care for your pets.
I do want to thank Dr. Eddy and Lori for professional and exemplary service always. Hopefully your ethics and customer service professionalism will rub off on those at Carter’s who need them.

This review about my experience in trying to make an appointment for my two dogs. I am new to Cathedral City having very recently moved from the midwest. I selected Carter Animal Hospital based on the strength of the reviews read here. I am appalled at how difficult it is to make voice phone contact with this business and the complete lack of customer service I experienced.
My attempts at reaching a live person in reception have been futile. The first time I called I left a message, but no one called me back. I tried over the course of several days and at different times of day and still received voicemail. On my 6^th try I finally struck gold and spoke to a person and made an appointment.
A few days later I called back, because I wanted information about transferring my dogs medical records from their vet in Chicago. I tried over 4 business days and every single time I call I ended up in voice mail. I left a message, but the call was never returned.
I came to the conclusion that if this is the service I experience when I’m a prospective customer, what would it be like later. I decided to take the dogs to another veterinarian. I called Carter Animal Hospital to cancel my appointment, and ending up in voice mail, left a message.
I followed up with both email and a message to Carter via the Unilocal feature to complain about my experience, but they have not responded to either of these.

Sitting here holding my neighbors little bog. He’s not doing well. Love everyone here! They are so caring. They treat this little guy as family. So nice. This is a sad time he’s getting old and this might be his time. Hope not.

I would like to thank the staff and especially Peter the vet for making Gizmo’s passing today so comfortable. Your compassion, kindness and consideration for us and Gizmo is a true testament to customer service and your love of animals.
As difficult as it was for us to make the decision to let our beloved, brave and precious boy go after 11 short years of unconditional love, you assured us after the last few months outstanding treatment that you’ve given him that it was the right decision and in Gizmo’s best interests.
