Mike Thompson’s RV Super Store

Recently went in to look at pre owned class b motorhomes. The sales guy «Mark» approached us. Would not have known his name if it weren’t for his name tag. He never introduced himself, never asked my name, barely asked me a thing! Upon review of 2 motorhomes we left. No thanks for stopping by. No card offered, no asking my name etc. One of the 2 units we viewed, the carpet in the Class B was sooo dirty and disgusting it was an embarressment. If it wouldn’t clean up, it should have been replaced. The class b is so small so the cost of replacement would have been minimal. I expect a lot more when the asking price was $ 70,000.00 plus tax, dealer prep, and license fees !

On a brief vacation in Palm Desert with friends we stopped at Mike Thompson in Palm Desert as we have been looking at RV’s for a year anticipating an eventual purchase. Kelly Schwartz and his sales partner Ken were very helpful, very non pressure and spent a lot of time showing us different floor plans all over the lot. It’s a casual country type store and they showed us homes knowing that we had no immediate plans to purchase, and were just there looking with friends. There were no questions about when we were buying what we did, can I make you a deal today etc.
Last week I faxed them an order list of things I would like with an offer, and got a rapid response with a minor counter offer of the best they could do from Ken. It was 20% off so I accepted it. Drove out signed the papers and it was completely no hastel. Even after we ordered it and put our money down. Kelly had us drive the one like we wanted to see what it was like.
I have called just to change the color on our order and there was an immediate response. I have been afraid to buy from Mike Thompson as they get many bad review’s, but from a purchase standpoint, I don’t think I could have asked for any better deal, with the simplicity involved at this store. I have shopped at others and did not care for the attitude expressed on several occasions.
I expect the Tiffin 31 SA will have issues as most motorhomes do, just hope when I go to the service center I will find people like Kelly and Ken. Thanks guys, I appreciate the no BS approach. I hope you found me the same. As a low maintenance customer. See you in two months for delivery.

We saw a class A coach advertised and wanted to take a look at floor plan. I was up front with sales person and told him we were two months from buying. Quote what are you doing here then it will be gone. Well its still there felt like we really put him out, wanted to buy local but no way would I go back there to buy.

Slackers. Once they sell you the vehicle the customer service stops.
Told me they sent the registration weeks ago to my home mailing address. I come home from Mexico and no registration in any of my mail. I stop in while I’m in Cathedral City and the finance guy tells me he’ll look into it and call me back the following day. He did, which was surprising because he is not good at call backs.
The registration was sitting on a desk somewhere and they are now getting around to mailing it.
Very disappointing.

2 women going in blind buying an rv. Scary, I know. But I was really impressed with the service we got from MT. We found a very unique Freedom II LIbero when we went in looking for a Road Trek. Feel in love and bought it. Steve Anderson was incredible. Told us everything about it and there was no pressure. Frankie, who took us through the entire coach when we picked it up, explained everything with patience and caring. Tomas, the finance guy, was OK. Not super friendly and not good at returning calls.
But overall, a good experience.

I recently purchased a 2011 Berkshire 390BH from Mike Thompson RV. While spending that much money is a little scary, I was very pleased and impressed by their way of doing business.
The negotiations were simple, straightforward, no tricks or twists, and we got a great deal in about 10 minutes.
From there, their Business Manager, Tomas, was outstanding, beating his original interest rate commitment by .75% and saving me a load of money. I was also impressed that they sell a top of the line warranty program (XtraRide) — a little more expensive, but from the reviews I’ve read, worth every penny.
Frankie, their detail/​prep service guy was very accommodating and helpful, and my sales reps, Steve & Ed, were friendly, helpful, and available for any questions even after the deal was done.
On top of it all, Mike Thompson put us up in a nearby park and had our coach ready to go a day earlier than committed.

I recently purchased a brand new 2013 Forest River, Forester (Model # 3121DS) from Mike Thompson’s RV Super Store. The Forester model is a Class C motor-​home. The entire purchase process took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in getting the deal I was striving for.
After a few rounds of rather intense negotiations, coupled with nearly 3 weeks of patiently awaiting the delivery of my RV that was still in production at the factory, I managed to secure a purchase price for my RV that put an enormous smile on my face as I was driving off the MTRV dealership lot destined home for San Diego.
It is important to start this review by giving credit where credit is due. I would like to give a profound «THANK YOU» to the Director of Sales at Mike Thompson’s RV, Mr. Mark Rosenbaum. (5 STARS) Mark stepped up to the plate and ensured that my RV dream became my RV realization.
Equally as important was the dedication of Finance Manager, Mr. Bob Bertich. (5 STARS) When the going got tough, other MTRV salesman & finance personnel ducked under their desks, and literally ran for cover. Not Bob Bertich. Bob was very dedicated to our deal and surpassed many of my personal expectations as his customer. Bob went to places where other MTRV sales staff simply were unwilling to go.
Purchasing a brand new motor-​home with a $ 96,413 MSRP price sticker on it has the potential to become «extremely» stressful, especially when I was on a personal procurement mission of buying my RV for up to 35% less than MSRP. That said, in the end, I did very well on the price of my RV.
A BIT OF ADVICE:
Make sure that you have your financial house in order before attempting to buy an RV. An RV for all intents and purposes is considered to be a luxury item by many of the banks these days. That said, you do not have to be Donald Trump to buy an RV, just make sure that your credit report is clean as a whistle before you walk through the front door of MTRV. In doing so, you will save yourself a lot of anxiety, grief, and aggravation while obtaining a more favorable interest-​rate from the bank. Additionally, be financially prepared to put at least 10% down as your down payment as well.
The reason why I drove up to Orange County from San Diego is for the fact that nobody else in the business of selling RV’s in Southern California could come close in price to what I wanted to pay for an RV. If you come here and understand the art of negotiation, you too can drive away knowing that you got the best possible price for your dream RV.
You may be wondering why I did not give MTRV an overall 5-​STARS? Here’s why; several substantial mistakes were made in the 4−½ week procurement process. That said, I fully endorse MTRV and suggest that you give people like Mark & Bob an opportunity to earn your business. Of course, this is after you have done your «RV 101» homework ;-)
