This gas station is often the cheapest gas on my Austin-to-Houston route via Hwy 71 and I10. Gas here is often only 35 – 40 cents over RBOB. If I have no reason to stop at Buc-ee’s in Bastrop, I fuel up here. It received a new paintjob recently and looks a little spiffier now. The only thing I don’t like about this gas station is that the pumps are close to each other so the cars may have to arrange themselves a little more to have the gas tank inlet next to the pump. To my surprise, they address this issue by having longer pump hoses. This Exxon is located on the Northwest quadrant of the Hwy 71 @ Pope Bend intersection. It is just north of the high school. I like having the traffic light there in case for a stress-free left turn. The traffic light often forces drivers going 75 mph to a complete stop so why not stop for gas anyway? :-)
