History

Established in 2013.

Sonny’s Story

Nunzio «Sonny» Maniaci was born in 1926 and grew up on Coney Island. His love of old school food, family, and fun was created there. Sonny was a community-​minded man, he was a volunteer firefighter, local employer, and generous supporter of his community. He never completed his vision of opening an ice cream shop, which became our family’s motivation to build Sonny’s, a nickname he was often called growing up. We were inspired by his era and his quest to bring something new to the table. Our endeavor in his memory has spawned Sonny’s a 21st century idea with an old school feeling.

Love this place .I have it once a week, nice portion and is good for Weight Watchers. The lowest fat seems to be the mint which is very satisfying. Out of all the yogurt shops this seems to be on top. I think it is connected with Foodtown which is also the best one around.

i paid by credit card and didn’t take a good look at the receipt before leaving the store. later i noticed that the cashier had added an additional $ 6.00 charge for something called «empty nutella.» bringing my frozen yogurt purchase to a cost of $ 10.49.

Yum for frozen yogurt! Sonny’s has some of the best frozen yogurt that I have ever tasted. There is a wide variety of flavors and toppings and the place itself is super clean. The only thing preventing this review from five stars is because sometimes the girls working the register aren’t too friendly and act like you have bothered them from instagramming or texting their bff. Other than that, delicious treat and in a great location.

Typical self-​serve multi option Yogurt place. The choices were really good. The taste was exactly like other places.
What I really liked were the fresh toppings. A large choice and really tasted good.
They have a fresh whipped cream maker for topping. Never saw this before.
One negative: price is way too high. Maybe in NYC price is acceptable, but not Cedar Grove.

I bought a chocolate ice cream cake for my husbands birthday and it was EXCELLENT! Everyone agreed that it was without a doubt better then Gelotti’s, Baskin Robins, or Carvel ice cream cakes!!!
I highly recommend that if you are looking for an excellent ice cream cake for a special occasion to get your cake at Sonny’s.
We had a double dutch chocolate ice cream with chocolate cake and a thin layer of chocolate crunches. OUT OF THIS WORLD — THE BEST!!! HANDS DOWN!!!

Wow! Sonnys truly delivers. I live in town and always pass this place kind of putting it off because there are tons of froyo places around and i wasn’t a huge fan. It wasn’t until I heard the great story behind sonnys and decided to try the place. I actually kind of regret going because now I’m ADDICTED. Sonnys has the best frozen yogurt you’ll ever taste. They have creative flavors such as root beer (which is on point!) and Nutella. My two favorites would have to be the coffee and strawberry. They’re literally to die for. They also offer cone bowls, regular cones, and toppings to add to the bottom of your bowl (chocolate crunches are a must). They have an awesome variety of toppings both cold and hot! They also carry pies and cakes and I can’t wait to have a reason to buy one! Overall, I would recommend sonnys to anyone. Place is clean, interior is gorgeous, staff is friendly, and their flavors have obviously been worked hard on and perfected.

yeah, there are dozens of yogurt places in the area but this one stands out a bit due to the good flavor selection. Root beer float twist and the mango tart twist are addicting. A little expensive but it’s expected with these yogurt places.

Best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had! The Oreo bark was amazing, I highly recommend it. Everything was clean, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and the frozen yogurt had a custardy texture that I really enjoyed. Would highly recommend this place to anyone! Plus they have really unique candy toppings that you don’t see everywhere. For example, my favorite, the sour patch kid watermelons :)

Wow. This is by far the most delicious frozen yogurt around. It’s brand new so the interior is really clean. The staff Is also very friendly and they even helped by telling me the flavors they liked the best (even though they were all luscious). I really hope this business succeeds.
