I have been Dr. McCarty patient for 2+ years and twice he got my prescription wrong. The first time (last year) I gave him the benefit of doubt and redid my prescription but it happened again (last month) having me to get a second opinion from another optometrist. I paid the both doctors for exams and eye scans. I asked the Dr. M office to return my charged fees and they declined.
I would choose another optometrist as I had to pay both doctors and wait an agonizing 3 weeks for my glasses to be done (once it was done, it had to be resent and then back).

This staff is very nice and professional and Dr. McCarty is friendly and very informative. I would highly recommend this office to anyone.

This place is wonderful. I moved away from the area and drive over 80 miles to keep this doctor. The staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. McCarty really cares about his patients, and communicates clearly about the condition of your eyes. He does not just tell you what your prescription is, he helps you understand about vision and eye health. Also, the equipment they have is amazing. If I could give them 6 stars on a 5 star rating, I would.

This is as good an eye care practice as you could ever find.
Everyone here, from the receptionist to the optometrist is Qualified, attentive and friendly.
Dr. McCarty is excellent in his profession and is truly concerned for his patients.

I had a 9:30 appointment and arrived at 9:20 in case there was paperwork. I wasn’t taken back for the initial work-​up until 9:40. I was then left in a room where I waited nearly 20 minutes for the optometrist. I finally asked the staff when he would be coming in. When he did come in he seemed annoyed that I had the audacity to value my time and completely rushed through everything and did not seem the least bit interested in anything I had to say.
Since I had my eyes dilated about 6 months ago and my medical issues are well managed by my physician I refused dilation and the doctor talked at me (not with, at) for the rest of the visit and went though all the things he would NOTdo for me.
I am not having any vision issues and was only in because I have a new vision benefit and wanted to take advantage of it to check my prescription and to get some new eyeglasses.
I will never go back.

I have been going to Dr. McCarty since I moved to Cedar Park 10+ years. Very friendly staff and office is great. Dr McCarty is very knowledgeable and has been very helpful with all my optical needs. Would highly recommend him to all. I don’t purchase my glasses or contacts from Dr. McCarty’s office and that has never been a problem with anyone who works there.

Great office. Very friendly doctor and staff. I have been going to them for about 5 years now, can’t say I have had any issues. They are always very receptive to any insurance doubts/​questions. I even got my wife to switch to this office for her eye care. Now if they could fix my sub par insurance :-P

Been going to Dr McCarty for year and a very smart, honest, and giving individual. I like going here because it is owner run, local and you get what you pay for… quality. They also have the best lense crafter in town! They can fix or make anything in-​house and cater to your unique needs.

Dr. Dennis McCarty is under Criminal investigation by the Federal Trade Commission for practicing «Prescription Held Hostage». Greed is the word here. First, he will pressure you to buy your eye wear through him at a substantial marked up price over what you can get it elsewhere. He’ll over charge your Insurance Company through «up coding» and then when your Insurance balks at paying it, he’ll come after you for it and hold your prescription «hostage» until you pay. (Holding one’s prescription «hostage» is illegal under Federal law)

Dr. McCarty is great! Thorough, explains everything, and just an all-​around great guy. His staff is knowledgeable and always on top of my insurance benefits and limitations, so I appreciate that. Recommend this practice to everyone!

My daughter and I changed to Dr MCarty last year due to insurance changes. We happily drive 45 minutes each way. The staff is always kind and professional and Dr MCarty is knowledgable yet down to earth. My family will be moving to Dallas later this year but we will continue to use this clinic for our yearly eye exams.

Great office, great staff! My appointment was quick without feeling rushed and Dr. McCarty was easy to talk to. Complimentary beverages in the waiting room were a nice perk!

I have been coming to Dr. McCarty since 2008. I have never had a bad experience. I always go once year for a check. He always is top of the latest in eye care. He always has samples for you to try. Love Dr. McCarthy! Professional, upbeat, friendly, caring, thorough and takes his time with each appointment. Friendly front desk staff as well. I’ve been going to Dr. McCarthy for 3 – 4 years now. His office is moving towards the end of the year and my family will definitely follow. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Very pleased with Dr. McCarthy. I am finally able to see after complaining to my previous doctor for over a year about contact discomfort. I also took my son to Dr. McCarthy and he was pleased as well.

Horrible. I hate to say this because I like to see the good in people but the office is shady. I was double billed during my first visit and they tried to hide that they did it when I noticed a discrepancy in the total. Then after having 6 months of contact they won’t let me fill my RX again without coming in for another exam. Unfortunately greed seems to be the theme here and it makes me sad to see a business behave in this manner.
Lastly along with the greed theme they tried to tell me that I could not get my contacts anywhere but there office (which are 3x the cost) if they tell you this check because both costco and target sell them!
Very disapointed !!

Seriously though, he’s an incredibly friendly and informative guy, and he gets you in and out quickly without making you feel rushed. And he always does a good job with my eye exams.
The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve been going here for several years and I’ve never had a complaint.

I am a new patient of Dr. McCarty’s, but I feel confident reviewing him, because I’ve already been to see him three times, thanks to an eye infection I had no idea I had, which he diagnosed on my first visit.
Since then, we’ve cleared up the eyes and he’s fitted me for new contacts. I’ve had astigmatism for a while, but past doctors have recommended just upping the prescription in one eye rather than doing the astigmatism lenses, which would require me to be careful about putting the right lens in the right eye… Dr. McCarty said I could continue to do this, but recommended the astigmatism lens and a different brand. He did a fitting, gave me a sample, and sure enough, my vision is much clearer with these new lenses, and the fit was perfect on the first try.
The office has lots of state-​of-​the-​art equipment, including iPads for you to play with while you wait (it has never been a long wait for me, though). They also offer coffee and refreshments, and have a seemingly wide selection of frames and contacts.
The staff has always been super friendly, and my appointments have been quick and easy, largely thanks to all the great technology they have to assess your vision/​eye health.
