When I walked in I was greeted by an extremely warm and friendly receptionist by my name. They have an online portal to fill out all your paperwork before hand – so check in was super fast. The office is inviting, comfortable, and well decorated. Dr. Earthman called me back himself (and on time) and met with me. He had the best beside manner – was super kind, knowledgable, and made me feel at ease. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a psychiatrist.

**AVOID AT ALL COSTS**
I made an appointment to see Dr. Earthman about 3 – 4 weeks ahead of time. Many red flags started popping up before I even saw the doctor. After filling out the new patient inquiry form on their website, I received a call a few days later. They left me a voicemail and I called them back within the hour. After following the phone prompts to get the person who left me the message (naturally), I recall someone clearly picking up the phone and then hanging up. This happened about 5 – 6 times. No hello, no voicemail, nothing. Red flag #1.
Second red flag with them was that they needed my debit card information to hold an appointment, which I made the mistake of giving them. Many legitimate medical providers do not take your payment information (insurance info, sure, I get that… gotta check coverage and stuff) before sharing with you and getting you to sign a paper stating that you agree to abide by it. Payment information shouldn’t be taken until the agreed-​upon service is rendered.
Now for red flag #3. A few days before my appointment, I decided to call and ask exactly how much my appointment was going to cost me. I left a message with instructions to call me back with this information. This was never done. When I asked the receptionist about this when in the office, she hesitated and said something along the lines of, «Uh, yeah, the doctor and I have been having some problems with that.» Didn’t even look at me when saying this. After reading previous reviews, I don’t believe that receptionist one bit. They are fully staffed with 4 full time people in the office, unlike many comparable offices that just have answering services or voicemail. They dropped the ball big time and wouldn’t even own the issue or apologize for not getting back to me.
Now for red flag #4, actually talking to the doctor. I voiced my concerns, politely and courteously, about the price to the front office staff and how I was never made aware of the price and that my calls about the price were never returned. His exact words to me were, «It’s not our responsibility to return patients’ phone calls.» I’m pretty sure if you didn’t have patients, there would not be a practice! He went on to say, «It’s the patient’s responsibility to call the insurance to check on price.» Your office, sir, should be well capable of disclosing the prices, since after all, you established them.
The below reviewers’ statements about the poor customer service is spot on, and I wish I had come to this page before contacting this practice. The poor service and haughty attitudes start at the top and trickle down. Avoid this doctor at all costs and don’t ever give your debit card information to «hold an appointment»

I’m a little confused at all the bad reviews on Dr. Earthman. He is helping me with sleeping medication dependence, and he’s been wonderful. He’s not a physiologist, he is a Psychiatrist — a medical Dr. who works with people with addictions and dependence — You are not there to talk to anyone about your problems. He’s pretty awesome and so is his receptionist, Julie. The appointments are pretty quick. He wants to know what’s happening with your meds and how you’re feeling. He is there to help you transition off medication with as little pain as possible. That’s my two cents for anyone who cares.

Worst customer service experience i’ve ever had. The office manager was on vacation and no one was checking her voicemail. It took me 4 days to reach someone and that was only because I left a voicemail in another staff member’s voicemail and on the doctor on day 4. I got a call back the next day from the doctor who told me the following: «My office manager is on vacation so if you could exercise patience someone will call you». He then proceed to hand up the phone. Not only was that rude but a complete waist of time! I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.

Dr. Earthman and his staff were wonderful and helpful. I did not experience the issues that some others have with the staff. Dr. Earthman listened to me and we made a plan to improve my daily functioning. I couldn’t be happier with him or his excellent staff.

I think that Dr Earthman is an excellent doctor. He is calm and dedicated wants to help you with all of your issues. He listens and made me feel comfortable. I am glad that I started seeing him. Seeing him and deciding for yourself is absolutely the way that you should go. He believes that there is more to getting well than just talking and medication. Your whole well-​being plays a massive role in your mental health. Taking care of yourself, includes taking care of yourself. If you truly want to become the person you should be, this is the doctor for you. I am very happy and satisfied with seeing him. He is not a doctor that will give you medication because of what you believe is your diagnosis. He is the doctor that will help you and will do what is best for you.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dr. Earthman for almost a year until I needed to switch providers due to an insurance change. It was an extremely difficult decision and I even considered paying out of pocket just to stay with him.
I’ve seen some troubling reviews, but most of them seem very situational and based on misunderstandings (The receptionist stays busy but is extremely polite and helpful). Still, the point of this is to discuss Dr. Earthman’s quality of care which is superb. He treated my girlfriend at the time, for a very difficult and sensitive set of mood disorders. He was very frank, decisive, and methodical, but also appropriately compassionate. He’s a true expert and he did a great job of outlining our potential options for treatment. We felt in control, we were trusted to let him know if we wanted to go a different direction, and he would let us know if he felt strongly one way or the other. Simply put, he was the perfect balance of what we needed at the time.

I scheduled an appointment after calling numerous times and no one ever answered. When they finally called me back I told them I would like to be checked for adhd. When I showed up, earthman said I would have to come back another day to be tested bit he gladly took my copay while providing no service. I usually read reviews with a grain of salt but believe me this guy is a quack and chin artist. Look elsewhere!

There are places you want to hang around and chat with the staff after your appointment, or even before because they are so nice and chill and you have something in common with… this is not one of those places. I understand the staff’s job is to schedule you, not to be friendly, but the SOLE reason I did not make an appointment for my brother with this doctor is that his receptionist is a jerk.
He was having a tiny bit of an emergency when his old Dr. suddenly retired and went belly up on a lawn chair in Maui, so I told him not to stress and I would call around and get him someone very quickly before his meds ran out. Not having a shrink of my own, I couldn’t refer him at all, so I needed to go based on his insurance list. I did just that, and left a message for Dr. Earthman and sent in the electronic form on his site.
Meanwhile, A LONG MANY DAYS LATER (after I’d already chosen another dr for little bro) I get a call from someone representing his office. This woman… I’ll tell you what, she needs a little retirement herself because trivializing suicide attempts is, at the very least, rude. She’s like. «Did he actually try to commit suicide or did he just take some pills?» What’s the difference, dudette? Let’s not be suicide hipsters, just because everyone is taking pills doesn’t lessen the seriousness of someone deciding to take their own lives! From the minute I picked up the phone I had been politely trying to tell her that we’d already decided on someone else, but she wouldn’t stop talking about their office policies, then talked just enough to insult my brother, so that’s when I got loud and told her, «Listen, I wouldn’t come to you if you gave out the fountain of youth and heroine. Goodbye.» or something equally as nonsensical along those lines.
Don’t know the doctor, don’t think I have to know since he hired this precious a*hole, but if that’s the way the staff treats the psychiatric conditions of the people who make their jobs possible (!!!), I’d rather not send a paranoid schizophrenic to quite possibly be harassed or made fun of without his even knowing.

Dr. Earthman is a good doctor, and did a good job with my anxiety, treated it conservatively, which I appreciated. The only reason I am leaving his practice is due to the staff (receptionist). I went in for my appointment and waited by the frosted glass window for quite a while, while she was messing with her computer and another person, While with a sick baby in hand (which she had said the day before I could not reschedule due to a sick baby without a fee). I went and sat in the lobby after that, only to ask her 40 minutes later about my appointment. She gave me a smirk and said I didn’t even know you were here. My sick baby was fussing the entire time and she didn’t know I was there? First appointment of the day? It is not the Doctor so much as the staff.

My experience with Dr. Earthman was great, and he provided exactly the help I needed. Our first meeting was the longest, where he asked the most questions and we went over my medical history together. The next step was taking a test, but it was very straightforward. Once the results came in, he prescribed a plan of medication. The spin up was difficult but once I got over that, things were great.
In the beginning we had meetings every other week so he could monitor my progress, but we moved to a monthly schedule, then finally a quarterly schedule. The early meetings were longer but the following ones were maintenance sessions that lasted maybe 15 minutes.
I never felt like Dr. Earthman rushed me, however you should be aware that he’s a psychiatrist, not a psychologist, which means he’s not the guy who you’ll talk to for an hour about your problems. He was friendly, if a bit reserved, but he never hesitated to answer any of my questions, and he offered sound advice that helped me over the course of my treatment.
My only qualm was with the front office staff, who seemed a touch disorganized. There was once a solid three days when they wouldn’t answer my pharmacy’s request for a refill, and there was one time when they brought up a charge that was apparently six months old but never presented to me. I paid it and took them at their word.
I would recommend Dr. Earthman if you are in need of psychiatric services.
