Great Dane Fence Staining

We had to get our fence stained per HOA regulations. Derek came out and was up front with me, gave me an awesome quote on the spot, and the workmanship was incredible. If you need your fence stained, there isn’t anyone who’d do a better job.

Great Dane is the best fence staining company in Austin! We received multiple bids, but we decided to go with them because of recommendations from multiple neighbors who had used them. They did a superb job staining our fence. Derek very carefully explained the process and even gave us tips, in case we chose to do it ourselves! He also did his homework before meeting with us (he already knew which stain was approved by our HOA). Their price is very reasonable, so we decided to go for it. We are so glad we did! Not only did they do an impressive job, but the customer service was outstanding. Derek is friendly, straightforward, honest and professional. I highly recommend their services!

Derek and his team did a great job staining our deck. Power wash, sanding, and staining were all included. The crews were very experience. They came out to my property for estimation, power wash, 1^st coat, 2^nd coat, and final walk through. Derek were all over details that I have missed and kindly gave me his best job and price. I am so happy with the result.

We are very pleased with the job that Derek Zimmerman with Great Dane Fence Staining did on re-​staining the wood on our house despite adverse weather conditions that meant a delay between the power washing and the sanding and staining. During this time Derek kept in touch while we waited for the weather to cooperate and was back with his crew at the earliest opportunity to complete the job. They used the utmost care to ensure complete coverage with no drips etc.
Derek takes pride in his company and the work they do and we plan to have him do all our staining from now on. I have posted a picture of the finished job which can be seen in the photo section.

Our fence looks awesome! I called Derek late one afternoon and he was out the next day to look at our fence and drop off sample pieces. He clearly knew what he was talking about and took the time to answer ALL of my questions/​concerns. We had spent a fortune on a new cedar fence so I wanted to make sure we did it right. His quote was in line with the others we received but he was by far the friendliest and most knowledgeable. Derek (the owner) was the one out here each day doing the work (along with one other) and took very good care not to get stain on our house or trample our landscaping. I was also impressed with his communication. Due to rain and winds we had delays here and there. He was always quick to get in touch with us and keep us updated. Bottom line: our fence looks great and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Chose Thomas with Great Dane due to the great work we saw in our new neighborhood. He dropped off a sample (piece of wood) with stains for us to review and choose from. He completed the project on-​time and we didn’t even have to be there! When we were able to see the final result, we were absolutely happy with the outcome.

The guys from Great Dane did an excellent job staining my deck, fence, and pergola out here in Westalke. Derek (the owner) is very personable and was really easy to work with. The project lasted a handful of days as I had them apply multiple coats and the stain (Readyseal) took some time to dry completely.
Derek and his crew were on time (every time) and the communication was always good. I wasn’t expecting to find a stainer that I would be this pleased with.

Great Dane did a lovely job staining our fence. His price was a little bit higher than the other quote I got, but his quote was based upon coming out and actually looking at the fence and seeing some of the tricky areas (retaining wall, plants). He even offered to get us a good deal on the stain he uses if we decided to do the work ourselves. That’s some honesty for you. I was out of town on business for two weeks right after his quote, so I didn’t hire him right away — I was impressed that he didn’t bug me with follow-​ups or high-​pressure sales tactics like some home contractors do.
Anyways, he was able to come out two days after I emailed to hire him. We’d just had heavy rain and the fence was pretty mud-​splattered, but he and his assistant did a great job brushing the mud and dirt off the planks before staining.
The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is that he put up a sign on the fence without asking. I promptly took it down. (And T15 anti-​tamper screws? C’mon, you can’t out-​engineer an engineer.) In the future, please ask. I would have agreed to a temporary (week or two) yard sign, but not a permanent sign on the fence itself.

Great Dane fence staining did a AWESOME job on my fence. I called him in the evening and left a message and he called back within a few minutes to setup some time to come out to give me a free estimate. He was honest and personable and didn’t pressure me either way, he gave me an estimate and told me how much the stain would cost along with how much stain I would need for the job. He even gave me the stain mixture since it wasn’t a standard stain color that Cabot had as he customized it himself. That way if I decided to do the job my self I could still get the color that I liked. I told him that I’d think it over and that I would have to get the colors approved by my HOA before starting the job.
I decided to have Great Dane do the work rather than spend who knows how long to stain the fence myself plus the cost of materials and additional tools was already have the cost of the estimate. Derek followed up in about a week to see where things were in regards to the approval. Once I got the approval we scheduled a day/​time to start the project. Derek arrived early and his team of two (Himself & one other) knocked out the project in 3.5 to 4 hours. They covered the grass and concrete areas that stain could potentially get blown towards, and even put boards and things like that on the other side of my neighbors fence to make sure the stain didn’t get on their grass. They even replaced a couple of warped fence boards free of charge, gave me a small quart of extra stain for touch ups, and gave me the Cabot mix for that particular color if I ever wanted to buy additional stain at a later point in time. All in all I would highly recommend Derek & Great Dane Fence staining!!!

Great Dan Fence Staining did a great job on my fence! From quote to completion of the job, the owner, Derek, transformed my fence in less than one week. He was very careful with my shrubs, concrete patio and driveway. The beautiful fence makes my whole backyard look alive. Highly recommend!

Great Dane Fence Staining did a great job on my fence. Derek, the owner, was very careful to cover my shrubs along the back of the fence so they didn’t get stain on them. The fence was grayed by 2 years of weather, but he bleached the fence first to bring back the original wood color before applying the stain. The color is beautiful and the backyard glows golden from the color of the fence. A great job!
