History

Established in 2014.

Once upon a time (5 years ago), in a far away land (Round Rock, TX), a mother (that’s me) was asked to bake a Birthday cake for one of her children. This cake was like no other (Mario Kart cake) and was the highlight of the boys birthday party. It was this cake that gave her the magic power of creating custom edible art in the form of cakes. From that day on, she was known as «The Cake Lady» and would be sought by people all over the neighboring lands (Cedar Park/​Austin Area’s). And that is when Not Your Ordinary Cakes was born. Over the years I have created hundreds of custom cakes for friends, family and clients. It wasn’t until January of 2014 that I made my business official. Stepping over the threshold of hobby to business.

I am in compliance with the Texas Cottage Food Law. And as such have completed my Food handlers Food safety training and Safe Food handling for Cottage Food Operators.

As a mother of 3 growing boys, and a dedicated wife, I started of with a love of Art when I was younger and taking art classes through out high school. Since then I had been searching for an artistic outlet. As with many mothers, I began my love of cake decorating with decorating cakes for family birthdays. As the years went by, I started to try new things with the cakes until February 2011 when I first tried fondant and created the «Mario Cart Cake». That one cake opened doors that I didn’t even realize were there and I began getting orders from others. It started off slow and fairly simple, but within a year I was making a Blue & Gold Dragon Cake to feed over 200 people.

I have created many cakes to date, some of which are displayed in the photo gallery, with varying degree of difficulty. Sculpted cakes are my true passion but some of my favorite cakes have been the simplest designs.
