I purchased a Lennar home recently which came pre-​installed with some ProTex security hardware as well as a choice of service agreement discounts. We did some comparisons of different businesses (ADT was the most expensive by the way) but Protex had the best customer ratings as well as overall quality service and competitive pricing so I decided to call to setup and reached Bailey Cooper who was a pleasure working with. He was very accommodating, honest, fast and very eager to suit my wife and my needs. Unfortunately we backed out our agreement for our own personal reasons but would recommend ProTex and in particular Bailey to anyone looking for service in this area. If we require services in this field again we will likely work with ProTex again.

We met Javier Soliz today to discuss our security system and options available. Javier gave us all the information regarding what we have and how we can upgrade with available options. There was no pressure and all our questions were answered quickly. Javier was courteous and efficient.
I will update this review once we have the upgrades in place and let you know the experience with the installers and system performance.

Impressed with the speed of how this company addresses an issue. I had an issue and Mr. Greg instantly contacted me. This shows me that the business cares about it customers, and that I will share to others to continue doing business with ProTex.

We recently renovated a media room in our house. We decided that we wanted to go all out — big built-​in with lots of storage, huge TV and audio system to do the TV and space justice. So, we got in touch with Wes from ProTex. He came out at the beginning of the project to talk through all of our needs/​wants, lined those up with our listening/​viewing preferences, gave his professional input and came up with an audio solution that sounded like what we needed.
During the time between the renovation and installation of the audio system, Wes consistently made himself available to questions about the products we selected, how we were going to lay things out, etc. He even offered to talk with our carpenter to ensure that his measurements would jive with Wes’ measurements.
Wes’ approach was fantastic and the way he carried himself throughout the project was awesome. He’s not the least bit over-​bearing but he’s certainly willing to share his opinions on things. We appreciated his honesty.
When it came time to install, Wes and his team showed up with everything they needed, including the new Marantz receiver we bought (more on that in a bit). His guys installed everything perfectly, including the TV (I was beyond worried about this one getting dropped ;)). Wes then spent time calibrating the audio and walking us through everything once he was done. They were the last step in our media room project so we go to enjoy it immediately!
So, overall, fantastic job by the ProTex team and Wes, in particular. However, the main reason this is a 5 star review is what happened a few weeks ago. I was poking around the Marantz website and noticed that the newest version of our receiver was due out in early August. We had just spent some decent money on this with ProTex, so we were a little concerned that we were now sitting on something that was already «old». I called up Wes and boy did he come through. He offered to swap out the receiver AND re-​calibrate, all at no charge. They absolutely did not need to do this, but the fact that they did speaks volumes (no pun intended) to the level of service we got by working with ProTex.

James and the team at ProTex Technologies provided efficient, thorough and technologically state of the art equipment in installing our security system. We have been very pleased with their service.

So far so good with the alarm system! James, the salesman, was very thorough with explaining the system before we had it installed. The guy who installed it did a great job and also went through another explanation with us. Very easy system to use and thankfully we haven’t had any break-​ins or fires so we hope to never really to use it, but it’s there when we need it and I feel safer for having it. They had a great promotion going on at the time (10 free window sensors). We also added the fire alarm and a glass breaker at the back door (not free but not too terrible in price). The monthly price is cheaper than ADT and I like that ProTex is locally based.

After speaking with Greg live on the phone. Let me address your response…
1. Yes we used a reputable phone company. I believe AT&T falls in that category. So according to you it was AT&T’s fault for not telling us their service may disrupt our security system and nothing to do with ProTex and the monitoring center you outsource to? Not sure many would agree with that service model?
2. Home theater issues: you offered to sell us a new receiver for a defective receiver that yall have already repaired once and install the new one with no labor charge. Wow very generous! Sell us an expensive piece of equipment and install at no charge. That should save me $ 40.
Basically all of my issues with your companies service you denied and pointed the finger at others.
You did speak to my husband after a series of voicemails He called the office and talked to a secretary who sent him to voicemail 3 times on 3 different occasions. We didn’t talk to anyone until I demanded to not be transferred to voicemail a week after our 1^st call.
Sales 101 lesson… not a good idea to tell the customer you disagree with their issues with your company and blame another company when your the one being paid for a service.
Remote software for free. You can gladly have it back. Apparently its not needed by the company we hired because it’s programmed incorrectly anyway. I will send the email back to you with the file you sent us if you really really want it.
FYI the company we hired to address your mess, made one phone call to the receiver manufacturer and got us a replacement receiver and the newest version because of the KNOWN issue with that receiver. AMAZING !!! According to you and your people that wasn’t a possibility!
So no we will never do business with ProTex ever! And no I will not change my review. We will stick with your competitors who provide service appropriately and who can’t believe the story when I told them what happened.
So keep you 30 mins of labor or whatever time it would take to plug in a receiver and your remote control file. With all my complaints I still can’t believe that was your suggestion.

ProTex has been nothing but trouble for the past year.
Problem #1 the installer drilled too far when adding the sensors to my windows. It took about 6 months to a year for 7 of my windows to crack. As they were being replaced, the contractor pointed out that every where the cracks occurred were where the sensors had been installed. No reimbursement was made for the damage that was caused.
Problem #2 my alarm was set off by my family 3 different times where there was a delay turning the alarm off. We didn’t receive a call confirming everything was ok.
Problem #3 we spoke to the owner about my mother-in-laws’s home. We could NOT get him to follow up with her after several attempts. She ended up going with another company.
Problem #4 my parents, which we referred them to ProTex, have been trying to contact them with questions about their system and possible upgrades they want. They were told 3 times someone will call them back, yet no one has. Now they are complaining to me and I wish I had not referred them at all.

The guy who came to tell us about the service was very informative and so nice. The person who came to install everything was super profesh and very nice as well — he worked quickly and explained everything.
The sales approach was very low-​key — really appreciate that (because you could sell me a bridge otherwise).

ProTex was recommended in our neighborhood so it was on our list of companies to check. Their representative was very honest about what they offer and did not try to upsell expensive things we did not need. We also changed our order at the last minute and they were very willing to accommodate. Pricing is competitive and it is a local business. Seems like a win-​win. :)

We recently moved into a new home and ProTex had already established a contract with the builder for security and home entertainment. Upon closing, we contacted ProTex and they were fast and friendly in their response to us. Wes came out to our house on time with his pre scheduled meeting and he was patient and took the time to explain all of the options. He was not pushy or made me feel like he was pushing any specific technology. Today, we received our security installation and again the technician (James) arrived on time and was very friendly and informative. He was thorough and went through the controller with me and provided me with any and all contact information. He even gave me his cell number and told me I could contact him over the weekend if needed. Next week, we will get our home entertainment system installed and we are super excited about it. Pro Tex uses state of the art systems and therefore may not be the «cheapest date in town», but you get what you pay for and they were not the highest bid that we received but did offer the best equipment and so far, their service is excellent as well. Thanks Pro Tex for making our move that much less stressful. We now have smart phone apps and text options for our security systems as well as a state of the art touch screen with all of the latest features.

I had some concerns with this company but after talking to the manager everything got resolved. It’s a great company and am very pleased with my services.

I just bought a new home and decided to go with USA made systems and great personal service from James at Pro Tex. Every detail was explained, installer was very professional (put on covers over his shoes when he was working) system is great, cost is fair and peace of mind is awesome. I recommend Pro Tex to anyone looking for a security alarm company in the Austin area. RL

I want to write an update to my previous review. The president of Protex contacted me about my concerns with his company and offered to work out a solution that would benefit both of us. He offered to modify out contract so that the length of service benefitted the both of us. His service team agreed to come out and make sure their equipment was working properly. I was impressed that the president was concerned enough to contact me and work out an agreement. I am pleased with his service and have a new outlook towards ProTex. It is clearly a local company that cares about their local customers. I would like to update my review to 5 stars.

Wes came out to our house today to show us how to use our pre-​installed alarm system. He explained to us and showed us everything we needed to know. He took a no-​pressure approach and didn’t expect us to sign up for monitored service. But after learning all about the company and the alarm system, my husband and I decided to sign up for the service. I am very pleased and excited to have ProTex as our home security monitoring service company.
