Shades of Texas Window Tinting

I got three different quotes for motorized shades for our large windows. Jacob and Shades of Texas gave us a great presentation on their systems available options and a price that was literally $ 2000 less than Texas Sun & Shade. He never tried to «sell» is the most expensive system but wanted us to have a quality product that lasted for many years to come.
When it came time for the installation they went above and beyond.

I cannot say enough about how amazing this company is… it’s personnel, owners and well… just everything about them is exactly what you wish every experience with a company was like.
Jacob was scheduled to come out and give us a free estimate, but got held up. He called us several times to give us updates to see when he would arrive, but when he realized he would be too late, he called back to the company to complete the estimate. Rosemary, one of the owners came out herself and conducted all of the measurements and estimate. She was extremely polite and went above and beyond to explain everything thoroughly to my wife and I.
Due to some miscommunication, the original scheduled date could not be met, but again, this amazing company went above and beyond to re-​schedule and even gave us an even further discounted price. This company truly knows what it’s like to build a loyal customer!
Curtis and Tommy did our install on our home and they were great! Extremely respectful and completely thorough with making sure every window was done properly. Their attention to detail was refreshing when so many people are just trying to complete a job and get out. They were polite and if we had a question would not make it feel as if we were impeding their work — again, an absolute pleasure having them work on our home. One window had to be re-​done a couple of times, as they worked they let us know how important good quality work was — again, very refreshing to have these two professionals work on our home!
The same day i had two vehicles done at their shop and when i was driving away, after the complete of both the vehicles, Rosemary herself came out and apologized once again for the miscommunication in scheduling. Makes me wish i had more windows to have worked on at home…
Without a shadow of a doubt, if you’re going to have your vehicles or home windows worked on, this is the company to go to! If you didn’t know you could get your home windows tinted to reduce UV… please have this company come out and give you a free estimate. You won’t be disappointed, but best of all — their attention to detail and customer service is exactly what makes Texas such a great state to live in!

Shades of Texas was awesome. I called a couple of places, had my run of mill answers to price quotes and quality. I had my 528i BMW tinted here. I was so pleased with the service, the professionalism, and customer expectations. Way to go Shades of TX.

I had my Nissan done there the other day. They do a very good job and I recommend them as the place to go in Austin for your window tinting. Our family has probably used them 6x since the late 80’s.

Shades of Texas not only did a wonderful job on my window tinting but they made what would have been a boring errand a pleasant morning by being so friendly, warm, and inviting. They had treats for the customers and engaged in delightful conversation. Wonderful office staff!

I had some commercial windows frosted. They were big which made it problematic to get clean cuts in the corners. This was made apparent after 2 trips. However, instead of giving up they invested in another piece of equipment and completed the job with precision. I understand things don’t always go as planned. The real measure of a company is what they do when things don’t go well. SOT excelled in customer service and delivered a perfect job. My go to from now on.

Called Shades of Texas to see about getting the sun-​facing windows of my home tinted. I arranged to have someone sent out to my house on a Saturday to give me an estimate. The scheduled time came and went, and the estimator was a no-​show, so I left the house to get on with my day. Managed to touch base with her later in the day (after she said she’d written my phone number down incorrectly, and couldn’t reach me the first time) and we arranged for another time that day for her to come out for the estimate. This time, she was an hour late after having a job in Manor «run over.» She finally showed, gave me an estimate, and I agreed to have some of my windows tinted. Scheduled a time for the installers to come out a few weeks later, and — you guessed it – they were a total no-​show, no call. Utter fail in every area.

I used Shades of Texas to apply the 3M Night Vision film to the windows of my business to help control the heat and I was really happy with every aspect of my experience with them. I got a quote from a competitor and Shades of Texas had a lower quote, their customer service was top notch, they were able to complete the job even sooner than I expected AND it was executed to perfection. Awesome!

I am extremely satisfied with both the quality of installation, as well as the customer service I received yesterday when getting my car windows tinted. John took the time to go over all the options for film and even gave me a demo of their heat reduction properties. I went with the Rayno film and the difference is dramatic. Not only is my (black) car cooler when I get into it, but it cools down much faster than before. My only regret is that I didn’t get this done sooner! Do yourself a favor and have Rayno film installed on your car at Shades of Texas.

If you want the best in town, go to Shades of Texas. I have been using them for over 20 years and would not trust anyone else with my car windows. I have watched them grow and move to their new location. Jim, the owner, is always there working beside his team. The quality of work can not be matched. The counter staff greeted us this Saturday with doughnuts and a warm conversation.
This is a local company that is easy to support. Thank you Shades of Texas for help keep our family cool during the hot Texas weather for all these years.

Disappointing.
We had Shades of Texas install blinds in our entire house. There were many installation problems. Blinds over a foot too long, blinds on a french door not the same height., blinds that don’t operate properly, and charging for blinds not installed. They have corrected some of the issues. During the install they offered to remove our old blinds for $ 10 an opening, that didn’t seem right to me. I spent over $ 4,000 and they want to charge me more to take out the trash?
My real issue was the installation of the valances. The do not fit properly and most of the windows don’t have the return installed. This leave the end of the blind exposed. I ask Jacob about it and he said he would take care of it. That has not been the case.
The thing that makes this worse is they seem like very nice people.

I got my Dodge Ram 1500 tinted here and they did a fanatic job. It’s been a yr since I got the work done and it still looks great! I’m taking my husband’s truck in today as a birthday surprise!

I had a great experience with this company. I took my car there for tint warranty work (it was originally installed from another company). Since they are a 3M dealer, we were able to make an appointment to fix the problem. They did a wonderful job on the tint and their customer service was great. I will continue to use them for my tinting needs in the future.

Did a great job tinting the car at a reasonable price. The staff was extremely friendly and I enjoyed the overall experience.

From the quote, to the installation, to the customer service on warranty repair on a single window (out of 50+) several years after installation.
I had my entire home done with a variety of films. Some areas we wanted heat rejection with zero tinting and mild tinting on full sun windows. My energy bill has gone down considerably since having film installed. You can put your hand up the window on a 100+ degree day and it’s still cool!
Not to mention they are locally owned and family operated. I can’t recommend Shades of Texas enough!

I have been to the North Bell location several times for window tinting and inspection. They recently moved to a new location on Cypress Creek across from King Noodle. The service is always great. The price is fair. I highly recommend.

I worked for a month and a half with these people. They took me in like family and for that I’m grateful. Big John and Dave really are some of the best window tinters around. Their service up front is out of this world as well. I’ve now moved on to dealer only work and looking back I realize how they stay alive with referrals, customers finding them, etc. It’s because they care about what you have going on, rather than just another customer.
They stand by their 3M warranty and work hard to get everyone in who they can. They respect your time and want to work around your schedule as best they can. Dave and Big John are some of the fastest tinters I’ve ever seen and I think on a personal level they’re truly good people.
As for the residential and commercial tinting (flat glass). I worked for a couple weeks with Larry and Johnny and honestly they’re really exceptional tinters as well.
My hats off to these people and the service they provide to the community.

I am very new to the Austin area and I had no clue who to call to tint my windows. I am very happy that I found these folks. I took my daughters car in this morning and they did a fantastic job. What I like about a company is that they do what they say they will do. They told me to bring it at 9 am and they would be ready, and they were. I hate waiting around. They said three hours and right on time it was ready!!! They did such a great job I took my car over to them as we’ll the same day.!!
Oh I didn’t mention this but they even gave me a ride home so I didn’t have to wait

I love this place. First of all I originally was looking for shades then I discovered window tinting when they came out to my home to do a consultation. They showed with a high beam light and use tint samples to show how much heat the tint repels I was sold. Moving from California I was not at all used to this Texas heat they told me would keep my home cool and let me tell you it has. All summer my home has not gone over 85 degrees when its 100 – 108 degrees outside its amazing. I could not believe it; I think the savings you from keeping your house cool will pay for itself in a couple years.
I also got my car tinted and I can leave my cold water bottle in there for an hour and it will still be cold when I get back its crazy. I love how while your waiting for your car to get tinted they will even drop and pick you up from Barnes & Nobles. They are all very nice and courteous people. When I was shopping around they are one of the few businesses that was very polite and courteous and worked around my schedule to earn my business. I will continue to do business with them in the future.
