Wanda Johnson has been an administrative assistant for 15 years. Business Owner

While growing up I was one of those kids who was always reading a book, magazine or encyclopedia. My mom and I made weekly trips to the library. I told my mother that I was looking forward to passing along that gift from her of reading and learning… I would always ask my teachers if I could do a research paper for extra credit because I loved learning. When I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I would always answer, «Teacher.» I enjoy sharing my knowledge with family and friends. Being the oldest of 6, they look to me for information and still do today… In January 2008, I ended up in Iowa. Moving to a new state with no friends or family, I started working exclusively during the day as a Marketing Secretary and started looking to volunteer at local woman’s organizations… I am a mother of a wonderful daughter, Mai (My-​ee), which means ‘elegance’ in Japanese. She is a happy, enthusiastic, and personable baby that attracts attention everywhere she goes.
