The Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Cedar Rapids provides great dining options, including an on-​site full-​service restaurant, Synergy Restaurant. The hotel also offers room service. Free amenities include breakfast, high-​speed Internet access throughout the hotel, airport shuttle service, newspaper and indoor pool. Business travelers have access to a business center with copy and fax services. The Clarion Hotel & Convention Center features two ballrooms that break down into 11 meeting/​breakout rooms. All rooms have coffee makers, irons with boards, hairdryers, safes and cable television. Some rooms feature whirlpool bathtubs, refrigerators and microwaves. History

Established in 1976.

The Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Cedar Rapids, was originally opened as the Sheraton Hotel in Cedar Rapids and meet with great pomp and enthusiasm. Over the years the Clarion Hotel has undergone several additions, updates, and design changes, however what has never changed is the commitment to quality and our dedication to customer service.

I am so excited to be a part of the management team at the Clarion Hotel in Cedar Rapids, IA. I moved to Cedar Rapids 2014 to be a full time team member and have never looked back, every day is a new day and brings exciting new experiences and people in through our doors. While working at the hotel I have had the honor and privilege to meet and assist guests such as; Presidential candidates, Football stars and whole teams, high school teams that made it to STATE, nationally acclaimed comedians, inspirational figures, and bear witness the start of so many wonderful marriages.

Thank you to all our Past, Current, and Future Guests, that make it possible for me to do what I do.

Clarksville, OH
This place was not nearly as bad as other hotels in the area. The lobby is quite attractive. I was only here for a hotel room for a night, but the breakfast area was fantastic, although the food was typical of a hot hotel breakfast. The bar and grill had decent food and the portion size was generous. They could stand to have a few more craft beers available. The area is rich with craft breweries, and this place only had one local beer on tap, and a couple others in bottles. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was really nice. I still cannot believe the price I paid. Red Roof pricing! This place was much better than a Red Roof. Unfortunately, the low price brings in some people that are a little strange. There was a gentleman standing outside the door across from my room for at least 2 hours. Apparently waiting for someone to get back. Just doesn’t make people feel comfortable.

Stayed here for two nights for my BFFs wedding. Staff (especially Joshua) were excellent. Room was clean, spacious, AC/​heat unit was great.
Water pressure sucked, but FREE PARKING, Internet and breakfast FTW.
I expected more noise, but it was pretty quiet. It’s close to local amenities. A great wee find!

Nice little hotel. The staff were exceptionally nice and very accommodating. The waitress in the 33rd Sports Bar was amazing along with the food. The breakfast was pretty good as well. Definitely worth the money.

The room was EXCELLENT. Two very comfortable queen sized beds with a decent bathroom for under $ 100. Air conditioning worked very well and the room was quiet throughout the night. The lobby was also very nice and well decorated but there is a general seedy feeling to the area which kind of permeates into the hotel. When we first arrived, there were a few sketchy characters sitting in the parking lot which was unsettling as a young woman alone. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating from the desk clerks to the cleaning staff. It was disappointing that the hot tub wasn’t working since that was not mentioned on the phone when I had asked a few hours before my arrival. The pool also seemed unclean and cloudy so I did not use it (also a bit disappointing). The breakfast was decent including eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy but was included in the price so it was appreciated. Only served from 6 – 9.
Overall, I would return for the price, the lovely room and the customer service. I suppose with some more remodeling and rejuvenating, this would be a great place.

Allegiant Air cancelled our flight so they put us up here for one night until we could catch the next flight the next day. We were expecting the worse since Allegiant put us up, and the Clarion had received a lot of negative Unilocal reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised. I gave them four stars, but maybe 3.5 is more accurate. Our room was clean and looked like it had been recently remodeled. New paint, new wallpaper, no stains on the walls or floors, etc. etc. Plumbing worked great; good king size bed; many stations on the satellite TV; etc. etc. We walked to the Perkins restaurant for dinner so we did not partake of their dinner service that night. However, we did eat their complimentary breakfast the next morning — it was great! It was not a continental breakfast as advertised, but a full and generous breakfast buffet. Coffee, three kinds of juice, milk, multiple cold cereals, muffins, bagels, toast, french toast, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit, and yogurt — all either cold or hot as it should be! Actually a very nice breakfast. They even gave us a late checkout and complimentary transportation back to the airport. For the price they ask for, I think this place is very good. I would use them the next time I have to go to Cedar Rapids.

It’s a sad place, the Clarion Hotel. It’s in need of a makeover and new beds. But the people working are what you’d expect – filled with great Midwestern charm.
The best part is the all you can eat breakfast buffet. It’s a great feast for your tummy that includes: eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, and juices.
The rooms are old and the products they provide — you just don’t want to use. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner as well as body wash.
Overall– it’s a very below average stay.

I booked off of orbitz and it was rated 4 ½ out of 5 stars. The pictures were new and modern. Quite a disappointment to see the actual hotel. It’s older and the room reeks of stale old smoke and aqua velva. I fully expect to have a polyester clad lounge singer in the lobby this evening. Oh well it wasn’t horribly priced.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Let me start by saying it was comfortable and clean, and I got a really good night’s sleep here. That’s important — probably more important than the outdated décor and musty smell to the room… or the water dripping into our bedroom window that woke us up. Or the lack of any significant water pressure in the shower… although there was plenty of hot water.
The breakfast is what saves it in my opinion. It was really quite nice considering the average fare of hotel breakfasts. Real eggs, real bacon & sausage, real french toast plus four cereals, juice, yogurt and likely some other things I didn’t register while in my zombie state. The coffee didn’t upset my stomach — which cheap nasty hotel coffee often does. This was better than average coffee. The dining area was also quite nice. So A+ there Clarion.

This is the worst stay at a hotel that I’ve ever had. Rooms and halls smell like old cigarettes, DO NOT EAT HERE, food is beyond terrible. We had a birthday party and the food is nearly inedible. We asked the manager to do something and the best they could do was a sorry. Unacceptable customer service.

FYI 1st floor is garden level. And upgrading floors costs you another $ 20. The toilets have a «Fresh Sanitized for you Protection» sign taped around the toilet seat and yet there are clearly drip marks. Nice job cleaning… I’d stay away from here.

This was a OK hotel. The mattress was surprisingly clean. (We spent a half hour looking for a stylus. We picked up the mattress.) The pool was nice, but kinda cold. The hot tub, on the other hand, was gross. It was made of 70s fiberglass, and I took one look at if, and didn’t want to even touch the water. The rooms were far out… in 1973. Don’t let the lobby fool you. The rooms haven’t been updated since the 70s. It was kind of cool, but all of the stuff was worn out. If they would update the rooms, this place would have been a lot better.

Don’t let the lobby fool you – this is a poor-​quality hotel. The whole place smells like cigarettes, and the room décor is circa 1990 (fake gold picture frames with flower prints, CRT television, worn pastel loveseat). The fire extinguishing system looks to have been installed after the rooms were built: pipes line the walls in the bedroom and bathroom with «DANGER» tags hanging from them. The pool looked OK, but when we got into the hot tub, it was lukewarm and there was a jar of salsa at the bottom. Soggy chunks of tomato and green pepper swirled around us.
Also, as of February 2012, this hotel no longer offers a free continental breakfast. Instead, you have to pay $ 7 per person for a buffet breakfast at the in-​house restaurant (also underwhelming).

This place is a dump and wouldn’t recommend to an enemy. If you enjoy the 80’s feel this is your place. never have I felt that i might bring bed bugs home from a hotel prior to this place. The one bright spot was the mattress was soft; don’t know if that was from overuse or in fact a good mattress. Stay away.

Had a meeting for CRnetWORKs here the food wasn’t to bad but it wasn’t the best, its a great place to have a meeting or even a party. The rooms are not bad at this place and they have a nice swimming pool and spa the sauna is very small but nice.
