Maher Bros. Transfer & Storage

We moved to Cedar Rapids almost a year ago. My husband got a job and the company facilitated the transfer. When the movers arrived to our home to move us, they didn’t have enough room in the truck because they had someone else’s belongings in the truck along with ours. They assured us they wouldn’t get the two confused. They sent another truck to get the rest of our things. They stored our stuff in Cedar Rapids for two weeks before we closed on our home in Cedar Rapids. I noticed there were a few things that didn’t arrive, however, they weren’t that important… and old rug and a stockpot. Unfortunately, I just realized after my daughter and I went looking for my wedding dress that it was not here. I have been married for 18 years and I am devastated! I wish I would’ve noticed sooner because now there is nothing I can do about it. Just be advised if you are being relocated and they have two trucks insist that they unload a truck before putting yours together with someone else’s.

Not a good experience for us! While the movers were friendly and efficient, assuring us that there would be no damages, one of the most expensive items we owned was ruined due to the movers’ negligence. They dropped a 50 inch flat screen television at some point during the move, and it arrived with a huge crack across the screen. Our loss of over $ 1000 was recompensed with a check for $ 52, which barely covered the cost of disposal of the item. We had not selected additional insurance because of the strong assurances given that our items would be safe. When we mentioned that we were considering transporting this item in our SUV, we were talked out of doing so.
