Next Page Books (NPB) is a locally owned, independent bookstore situated in the historic New Bohemia (NewBo) district of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The store carries a wide selection of fiction, non-​fiction, young adult, and children’s books in a warm and inviting environment. If the store does not have a title a customer is looking for, NPB can special order the book and typically have it in the customer’s hands within two-​to-​five business days.

History

Established in 2012.

New Bo Books was established in July 2012 by Mary Ann and Chuck Peters and quickly became a valuable community asset serving the greater Cedar Rapids area. The business was purchased in December 2015 by Bart Carithers and the store name was subsequently changed to Next Page Books.

Business Owner

Bart Carithers, the owner of Next Page Books, is originally from Cedar Rapids but spent most of his adult life working in higher education on the east and west coasts. After a 40-​year absence, Bart chose to return to Cedar Rapids, a place he always considered home. Taking ownership of the bookstore was the realization of a life-​long dream. His mother, Edith, once managed the book department at Sanford’s in downtown Cedar Rapids which is where Bart developed his love of books and reading.
