Best Chinese in town and one of our favorite places to go for a fast, inexpensive lunch. It’s always busy over the lunch hour and why not when you get an egg roll, wonton and soup with every lunch entrée you order. We frequent it for take out and dinner too. LOVE the egg rolls! We love these entrees best: vegetable shrimp, chicken with snow peas, shrimp fried rice, triple delight, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli. We aren’t very adventurous eaters, so we haven’t tried even close to all of the choices. This is a family owned business and the entire staff works very hard to bring you hot, fresh, delicious food. Now excuse me while I go place our take out order for tonight.

Lunch is great. Good bang for your buck. Comes with a Rangoon and an eggroll. The sauces for the chicken seem very similar to each other, just varying in spiciness. The popping rice is a fun soup to get. Always consistent and nice location with Java hut near by to grab coffee afterwards.

I’m surprised at the low rating of this place. It’s amazing! When it comes to Chinese food this place is like no other. I have been eating at tings for 8 years now and have met many people here over lunch and I am never let down. Best crab meat rangoons in town! And the batter is always crispy! That’s what I feel sets this place apart from the competition. It takes awhile to find your favorite dish but when you do you’ll know it and will never go anywhere else for your Chinese fix. My personal favorite is the sesame chicken. Service has always been quick even during the busy hours. And I feel it’s worth the wait over the lunch hour for the value. $ 6 for a crab rangoon, egg roll, hot and sour/egg drop soup, entrée and fried rice. Take out is always a great option to. If you haven’t already give this place a try.

We always get our Chinese here but today the lady was acting very grouchy. She’s either the owner or manager. Always at the register. Came in with our baby and said we needed a high chair. She glared at us and said, «a high chair!!!» Yes. A high chair. She’s 14 months. She eats too. Anyways, food was fine. Male server was nice. There was an extremely nice older lady that kept coming up to our baby and being so friendly and that was so nice. Then she started to fall asleep so I hurriedly got her back into her car seat and passed by the mean lady at the register again while the other person in the party paid and the mean lady glared again. I say, friendly, «she was falling asleep. Gotta get her out to the car.» She said nothing, not even a nod. Just a terrible glare. Doesn’t leave a nice impression and that’s why they are getting this Unilocal review right now. Could have avoided that but customer service is important. Food: 4 stars Atmosphere: 3.5 stars Nice older lady: 5+ stars Mean lady: –5 stars

We were drafted promptly, brought soup and appetizers right away. The place was clean, the staff was friendly. Our food was ready right away. The price is great! They didn’t skimp on the meat! Great portion size. I will certainly be going back!

We stopped in after work since we had all travelled for our project. Our meals all turned out delicious. I was very happy with everything that came out. We ordered family style and there was more than enough for everyone to eat. My personal opinion was they actually cooked fresh, so many Chinese restaurants have turned into«cut the bag open and wok it» places. So this was a nice change. We have very few back home that compare to this restaurant in quality. The staff was friendly but stubborn. I wanted a receipt for my meal(I was travelling for business) buy she did not want to give it to us. I finally told her we were staying at the table until I got one if she wanted us to leave. She brought it pretty quick after that. LOL! She was nice though.

Best Americanized take out in town! Maybe the best battered Chinese food I’ve ever had. The lunch special is Iess than 6 dollars and fills you up all day. Any dish with battered and fried chicken is superb here! Best texture, white meat, and sauce combo I’ve had. Egg rolls are perfect and use spring roll paper instead of thick dough. The soups are always perfectly flavored and come with the lunch special! Not too bad for sit down service either. The only gripe I have is the lady at the front register comes off as being extremely rude and not welcoming. Try the hot braised chicken lunch special with fried rice and hot and sour soup. You won’t be let down!

This place is great! Friendly staff and good food. We didn’t have to wait long at all. My husband and I had the General Tsao chicken and sizzling rice soup. Best Chinese food!

Best Chinese around the Cedar Rapids area. There’s quick service and good food. We often get the family style option for more food options at the table. Every entrée I’ve had is delicious. The egg rolls are the best! Sometimes there’s a wait, but it’s well worth the time. Plus, that means you know the food is good!

Ordered a couple different items with my girlfriend. Both were bland, few vegetables and barely resembled the items we thought we were ordering. It wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t even close to as good as most other places we have tried in Cedar Rapids.

I had heard so much about this place. People really speak well of it. Have visited twice now, and… meh. It’s ok. Ok, it’s fine, but nothing to rave about. There are better Chinese options in the area. Is a tad pricey, too.

Ting’s Red Lantern has great food, for low priced Asian cuisine. The prices are low and you are usually given an appropriate amount of food for one meal, rather than the huge amounts some restaurants serve. Every time I have visited Ting’s the service has been quick and friendly. We usually receive our food in a matter of minutes, and the waitress is always smiling and happy to answer questions. The décor inside Ting’s is a bit dated. I, personally, am not bothered by it, but if you’re looking for a stylish place to eat, you may be a bit disappointed. Ting’s is always very busy for lunch, probably because of their low priced lunch special. If you plan to eat out at lunch, be prepared for it to be busy. My personal menu favorites are the cashew chicken and the chicken vegetables. I like the crab rangoons at Ting’s because I can actually taste some crab in them.

Awesome Chinese food! Great service, friendly environment. A little pricey from what I remember, but worth the trip to the NE side from the SW side to try this restaurant. Crab rangoons were tasty.

Hot braised chicken is good, actually. 4 stars Kung pao chicken is so-so. 3.5 stars Hunan chicken is a lil better than Kung pao; in between 3.5−4 stars.

Hands down the best Chinese food in Cedar Rapids. The prices are reasonable and the staff were great! I won’t go to any other place for Chinese, in Cedar Rapids. If you want to have amazing food with great service, this is the place. You won’t go away disappointed or hungry!

The Red Latern is arguably one of the best Chinese food places in Cedar Rapids. The food was very delicious(especially the Sesame chicken), the staff was accommodating and friendly and the décor was great. They are reasonably priced, and meals come with an entrée, fried rice or steamed rice, egg roll, crab rangoon and your choice of soup(egg drop was awesome). And I always love it when a place has Diet Mt. Dew in the fountain drinks. It is a great place to go for lunch, but get there early as it is a popular place.
