Lower Table Rock Trail

Let me start by saying that I went into this hike thinking it was 12 miles round trip. So, I was prepared for a longer haul and brought plenty of water and lunch. This turns out to be more like 2.5 for a total of 5 round trip.
There is a restroom at the trail head. That said, use it or you will have to hurry back down and there are many nice sights to see up at the top. Particularly during the spring when the wild flowers are blooming, you will want to stop and smell the (wild) roses.
There is no water on the trip either so be sure and pack that as well as lunch which we did on this day in May. This was a hike lead by BLM, the Nature Conservancy, and a representative from the Conferated Tribes of Grand Ronde (their native people have roots here). Interesting stories told and many things learned.
We took about four hours with frequent stops for information, etc.
Although, I’m not really a hiker. I would do this again.

This is a great easy hike with gorgeous views of the surroundings and on sunny days a perfect view of Mount McLaughlin. It’s a bit out of the way from downtown Medford (but then what isn’t) to the east of Eagle Point, near the Rogue River. It’s easy to get to (plenty of well marked signs) easy parking (no fees) and a decent hike (not too strenuous to get to the top and views along the way.) There are restrooms at the beginning of the trail, but none elsewhere, and no water, so bring your own hydration and its a great place to eat lunch at the top.
During spring is the best time to visit, so you can see all the wildflowers in bloom. Plenty of signage allows you to identify the types of flowers. Also saw a few other wildlife critters, squirrels, woodpeckers, salamanders and a fox running by. Plus there’s vernal pools with brine and tadpoles.
