What is the Artesia Cemetery District?
This district cemetery serves the residents of Artesia, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens, and portions of Lakewood, Long Beach, and Norwalk; their families
could be buried nearby and cared for in a dignified manner.
What is a public cemetery?
Public cemeteries were established by the State of California in 1909. These cemeteries are funded primarily by property tax revenues and from
services rendered at the time of burial. Residents are entitled to burial services at reduced costs. Citizens living outside the district must pay an
additional non-resident fee.
Visitors are welcomed!
All of our grave-sites are on the computer and are helpful to individuals researching their family genealogy. The first recorded burial is listed in 1866. Our occupants reflect the history of our communities. People from various ethnic, economic, and faith backgrounds are buried here. Our gates are open to all.
