Black Cab & Limo

The night prior, I called and scheduled a ride to the airport for 5:00 a.m. The morning of the scheduled ride, no one showed up and there was no answer when I called to inquire. I was forced to seek out an alternate way to the airport, making me late.
Based upon the conversation I had with the dispatch when I scheduled my ride, there had been no doubt in my mind that a cab was going to be there.
I would never recommend this company based upon this experience.

My son needed a ride from Willard Airport to UIUC. They were great. I texted them info and when the flight got changed they were quick to accommodate. Will definitely use them again.

Called for a 5:15 morning reservation. The driver was here before 5 and didn’t alert us, just parked outside quietly. Also he helped out with the luggage and responded to our request of stopping at a differmet place first. Overall 5 star service!

I can’t recommend this company enough. They are honest and up front about fares, they go out of their way to be helpful, wonderful customer service.

I’ve used Malik for visitors to our department and he is always on time, always friendly and courteous, and we always receive compliments. He makes me look good! :)

The dude Malik that runs this service is awesome. Even though he was a little behind schedule he was very friendly and sincere about being late. He is inspiring in how he treats customers — something all cab drivers should take example from. He’s just one guy running the whole business right now so try to book an appointment if you need a ride for sure. Needless to say, I have a go-​to-​guy for a reliable, enjoyable cab ride.

This is my first review on Unilocal!Malik is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. He was early and was waiting inside my apartment building to help me bring my luggage to the car. We had a great conversation the entire ride to the airport. We arrived at Willard and he walked me all the way inside and since I was early for the first flight out, he told me to wait until 5 and who to call in the off chance no one showed up. He is reasonably priced and I will DEFINITELY use him in the future.

Excellent service. We needed to make it back home for an appointment after being delayed at the doctor’s. Our other taxi choice needed over an hour to pick up. Time was tight. So I called Black Cab, and he was able to come over very quickly. Great service and reasonable. Give them a try. We will use again for sure!

I was briefly in town, on business.
Excellent, courteous service. I called the night before to book, for a ride from the Illini Union Hotel to CMI Airport, based on the recommendations seen on Unilocal.Because of the location I was calling from I had trouble hearing the person scheduling with me. He called me back to make sure we had scheduled correctly, then confirmed by text. When the driver came to pick me up he was actually early! My driver was friendly, shared details about the area on the way to the airport. He is saved in my phonebook for the next trip.

Driver did not show up. Had to call him myself to ask if he was coming. The other driver he sent was over 20 minutes late.

Malik, BCL’s owner, just did me a huge favor. Earlier today, I was planning to take the Peroria Charter to O’Hare. Unfortunately, I forgot my passport at home and missed the bus. Malik picked me up immediately, caught up to the bus an hour later.
That’s not all! He turned on his blinkers to get them to stop on the side of the interstate, and he got them to seat me on the bus.
I was stuck. He could have taken me all the way to O’Hare and collected a huge fare from me. Instead, he went out of his way to save me a ton of money.
Malik, you are a hero, and the best driver I have ever met!

Malik’s been terrific and responsive. Using text messaging is a real advantage for a car service. He also comes across very professionally, and takes great pride in providing outstanding service.
That said, because he’s essentially working as his own dispatcher with only a single vehicle, you need to be careful about what time you need the vehicle. I’ve waited for over 35 minutes for a pickup because I didn’t text him which time I needed.

This guy is really great! Arrive on time, clean cars and reasonable price. We lost luggage and spent some more time in airport, he waited us with patient and helped us a lot.

This is the first time Unilocal let me down. 5-​stars? Not even close.
I would not recommend Black Cab & Limo for two reasons: 1) the driving did not make me feel safe and 2) the driver did not treat me like paying customer.
The driver was late 7 minutes picking me up. He called me to ask what city I was in; information I had already texted the day before. There was another lady in the car. I thought she was his wife or friend. I didn’t know she was another rider; we went to campus to drop her off. We were on our way to the airport when he received a call, so we picked up a new girl very nearby. We dropped her off at another part of campus.
By the time we actually started heading to the airport, 20 minutes had passed. We arrived 30 minutes before my flight left.
I didn’t complain during the ride because I had already checked-​in online and wasn’t checking any bags. I thought maybe he would reduce the fare for the unusual circumstances. The fare was the same: $ 18! (overpriced!)
I asked him if this ride was normal. Did he usually give other rides before taking a passenger to the airport? How could I rely on him to get me to the airport on time in the future? He assured me that he got people to the airport on time. He KNEW the roads would be empty, etc. I said that this time, it was okay; I wasn’t planning on checking my bag, but what if I wanted to check it? It was too late now. His response was that he KNEW I wasn’t going to because it was a small carry-​on! Carry-​ons can be checked too if I want, and I often do!
Basically, HE DECIDED when I would arrive at the airport. I planned on arriving 50 minutes, not 30 minutes, before my flight. HE DECIDED I would have enough time. And HE DECIDED that I wasn’t going to check any bags. This all would have been okay if he had only asked me. It was as if he was doing me a favor, not that I was paying him for a service!
His driving was way too fast, with sudden braking, all in the fresh snow. He must be a good driver, but it didn’t feel safe.
It was like being in a third world country. Would it have been a different experience if I were a loud person, or if I complained, or if I were a man, or white?

Awesome guy. Quick pickup, cheap delivery. Used him to and from the bar. If I ever end up in this town again I’ll give him another call. Tip him well.

UPDATE: Sometimes, the owner may call a different cab company for you, e.g. Jet Cab. These other companies do not offer the same level of service and pricing that Black Cab does, and I am very disappointed when I get a different cab. Minus 1 star for the bait and switch.
Very nice driver and punctual. Great price to the airport. Probably the best cab I’ve had in CU.
Tip: Make an appointment; this guy is awesome and as such, is usually booked if you try last minute.

It’s perfect. Driver is the person who picks up the phone and he will arrive couple minutes earlier. You don’t have to worry about any delay problems. The price is also reasonable. You can call them anytime and he will send you a confirmation text. that’s sweet.

By far the best taxi service in Champaign. Friendly, punctual driver who didn’t charge extra for all the additional stops we made! Definitely a refreshing change from the rude, hate-​their-​life taxi drivers in Chicago and New York. Would definitely recommend this service!

Making appointment was easy and was confirmed promptly. Came on time to take me to a hospital appointment. Pleasant and courteous. Wished me well on my appointment. Clean and comfortable car. Needed return earlier than anticipated and he came immediately. I recommend this service without reservation to anyone needing taxi service. So nice in these times to find a taxi service that is reliable, clean, and courteous. Worth every penny for the peace of mind.
