Specialties
People come back time and again not just because we have the lowest prices in town or the largest selection, but because every single employee here is a cheesemonger. A true professional who can assist and guide you with any questions you may have. We have cheese samples on our counter perfect for tasting 7 days a week. Saturday is our big day — from 10:30am to 7:30pm we fill our counters!
We carry a huge variety of cheese (over 300 at any given time) from around the world. We make every effort to source local products from Prairie Fruits Farm in Urbana, Ray Ropp in Normal Il, and Ludwig Creamery in Fithian — these are locally produced on farm cheeses. Always rBST free — with animal welfare a priority. Happy cows make happy cheese.
Cured meats — check! We have tons of Italian, Spanish, French and German cured prosciutto and salami’s and more.
Chocolates — we have the finest chocolates in the world. And we even make our some of our own in house.
History
Established in 2010.
We opened our doors in 2010 and Champaign Urbana has responded! In spite of a recession we have grown from a carrying a few hundred products to over a thousand.
I wanted a place where I could buy cured meats, proscuitto’s from Italy, Iberico d’Bellota from Spain and salami from France. After finding no one willing to sell these items in Champaign Urbana, I knew I wanted to open my own store.
A true Italian deli where you can get a real Italian sub; that’s what I wanted and that’s what I built here.
My wife on the other hand wanted a chocolate shop and nothing ordinary; she wanted the best of the best. People like Patricia Christopher and Patric — so we started stocking the finest handmade chocolates in the world.
It’s been almost three years and every aspect of this business has grown thanks to our wonderful customers here in Champaign Urbana.
Meet the Business Owner
Bart B.
Business Owner
We are Bart and Mindy Basi, permanent residents of Champaign-Urbana. We live and work in this community, our son goes to high school here, our home and family are here. We reinvest in our community, supporting the Park District, Krannert and a host of local schools with donations.
We pay a living wage to all our employees, donate freely of both our time and money. We still manage to have lower prices than the local supermarkets on similar products.
We shop locally and support local small businesses with the belief that keeping our money in the local community is what is best for Champaign-Urbana. Our business is about much more than catering trays or selling a bit of fine cheese. We run our business with principles, we enjoy talking with our customers.
We invite you stop by for a chat and to sample a piece of cheese.
