History

Established in 1985.

Dr. Scott Anderson joined his father, Dr. Wells Anderson, to form a father-​son dental team in 1985. Wells Anderson retired in 1995 and Scott Anderson has been the principal dentist since that time.

I’ve had the pleasure of helping individuals and families attain and maintain optimal health for the past 25 years. Dentistry is a rapidly changing field and I love the challenge of combining the art and science of the profession. Helping people improve their smiles is especially gratifying. When you watch a person smile for the first time in years after fixing damaged or unattractive teeth, you can’t help but be grateful to be in such a wonderful profession.

I value community service and have been committed to making this community a better place to live. I served twelve years on the Champaign Board of Education and currently serve on the board of SmileHealthy, the United Way, and the First Presbyterian Church session. As a mentor with C-​U One to One Mentoring for the past six years, I have witnessed the importance of maintaining a relationship with children who need more adult guidance. A mission trip to Malawi, Africa in Sept. 2009 was a life changing experience.

Dental services here are pricy and it may be a few weeks to a month before an appointment is available but Dr. Anderson is the absolute best dentist that I have ever been to and the staff at this office are amazing!

My family has seeing Dr. Anderson for the past several years. We are always impressed by the friendly front desk personnel and the timely hygienists. I am super-​scared of going to the dentist! When I entered Dr. Anderson’s office for the first time yesterday, I was welcomed with warm greetings and heartfelt assurance that the whole staff wanted me to feel at ease. This first visit shed a new light on how pleasant the dental experience can be! My fear of all dental visits is finally dissipating, thanks to the terrific care I received from the whole staff. I arrived with plenty of questions, and each was answered clearly. They take the time to understand the whole history of the patient, while the friendly chatting eases the minds of those solely focused on [aaaak! dentistry!]. If you are one of those people that puts off going to the dentist because you’ve already waited so long, and now you’re scared out of your mind, please do yourself a favor and check these guys out! You’ll be thankful you sucked it up and did your smile this long-​lasting favor.

I have been to several dentists over the years, but until now, I have not been «happy» with my dental care. It was something I took care of, even as I dreaded it. I enjoyed (yes!) my appointments here; no anxieties, no pain (not even discomfort). The office staff, dental hygienists, practice manager, and dentist are all professional, and friendly. I appreciate dentists who take the time to ensure quality care. Dr. Anderson and his staff are all excellent at what they do!

I came here to have a filling that fell out replaced, since I was at school and couldn’t find time to get home before finals. It was a very positive experience for me (for a dentist). I was treated promptly, courteously, and competently, which is all one can ask for in such a situation. In addition, Dr. Anderson walked me through the whole process as it was happening, which I have never had done for me before.
I would go back, if I had another dental problem, but I wouldn’t go back just for fun (then again who would?).

I go to school at the University of Illinois so my real dentist is at home. However, my friend had a dental emergency when she chipped her tooth. Though he was not our regular dentist, he was very kind to us and extremely accommodating. He stayed much later than his office is actually open to help someone who wasn’t even his patient. Her tooth was fixed in less than an hour and he did a flawless job. My friend said that he made her feel very comfortable as if he had been her dentist for years.
His staff was very pleasant and his office is beautiful as well. Considering the emergency, it was also surprisingly affordable. Both my parents and grandparents are dentists so I definitely have some experience with dentists and I am very picky, but I highly recommend Dr. Anderson.

Having lived here for four years and not once been to the dentist, I decided it was high time to go for the old «clean and check,» and found Dr. Anderson in the Yellow Pages. For new patients, they usually schedule two appointments: one for the patient consult and x-​rays, and then they schedule another appointment for the actual cleaning/​whatever other work needs done. I thought this seemed silly at the time, but then I found that they really take lots of time with new patients, and I felt that they cared about me as a person instead of just a set of teeth that needed cleaning. They got all the x-​rays done, and then when I mentioned I was in a wedding that weekend, they decided to go ahead with the cleaning, since I had no other work that needed done.
Dr. Anderson himself came in for a few minutes, said generally admiring things about my teeth, and then said that I was a «low-​maintenance» patient, meaning that since I’ve never had a cavity, I only need to come in for yearly cleanings, and I only need x-​rays every three years. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard a dentist say that they don’t need to see me that often, and that really impressed me.
The office is beautiful, with lots of fancy equipment that I’d never seen before, and all the in-​the-​mouth work was extremely gentle, yet effective, which is important to me. If you’re in the market for a new dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Anderson.
