NTB – National Tire & Battery

I’ve been their customer ever since when they were Tires Plus. My lifetime spending with them amounts to thousands of dollars. They delivered mistakes after mistakes. Here are some of the examples: had the appointment scheduled to fix my rear suspension, came on my appointment day, the greeter service guy said my front suspension needed to be done, confirm twice with him since I knew my rear was to be fixed, he adamantly said my front, so we fixed it. Days later, it turns out my rear was to be fixed not my front. The manager, Dave Uspringer, gave a discount of 20% for the mistake that the guy created by fixing something that doesn’t need to be fixed. So, I ended up paying twice (both, for the front and the rear). Another example, had another service done this summer. They took off my tires and rims to take a look at my brakes and rotors. While on the freeway towards work, my rear rims broke loose from the driver’s rear side. It flew half a mile on the freeway, landed on the shoulder divider. I ended up missing a whole day of work, paid for towing service to another shop, have them installed new lug nuts, out of my own pockets. About all this, I could have been killed or injured! Imagine you’re driving and suddenly your rear rims and tire flew out, leaving the rear scraping the bare ground without a tire. You would think it only happens in the movie, but yes, it happened to me! The shop told me there were only two lug nuts on the rim instead of the mandatory five and all the other lug nuts on the other three were barely even on. I was shocked, in disbelief. I called the manager, thought about sue-​ing them, but ended up forgiving them again due to a busy work schedule and decided not to follow up. Two days ago, before writing this review, I came in person to schedule to have a tire rotation. The guy working at the computer took down my information and said I’m good for Monday at 6 pm. Showed up today, which is Monday, a different guy is working at the computer said he doesn’t see my appointment on there. I felt like a fool for believing the other guy, who set up the appointment. Seeing as to how I was being played a fool time and time again, of which, I either forgive them or overlook the situation, do you think I should do business with them again? In writing this review, my hope is to give caution as to whether you choose to bring your business to them. By reading my review and experience, I sincerely hope that you do not.

Had my wife’s snow tires taken off and the regular tires put back on her Audi. A few hours later they called and said our car was ready. My wife and I pulled into NTB 20 minutes after they called and noticed our car leaving the parking lot with two NTB employees in it. My wife went into NTB and asked why two employees were driving her car out of the parking lot and the employee behind the counter responded with «Your rims were wet, they are drying them for you.»
The two employees were gone for about 5 – 8 minutes with our vehicle. Upon returning they told my wife her rim was bent so they needed to take a test drive to see if it would effect her driving. Not matching stories.
I guess going for a joyride is how they dry your rims!
My wife and I will never go back to NTB ever again!

Yikes. Watch out for these guys. Tried for a quote several times on website and got a different tire price each time– yes, I entered the same specs. Internet quote includes installation, but not fees and taxes. I just needed one 16″ tire to replace a tire with a bulging sidewall on a Hyundai sedan. Cost out the door was $ 40 dollars more than the internet quote. Total was $ 175 for a single tire. Its a while since I bought tires… I should’ve known better. Now I’m embarrassed about it. Later I will go about spreading the good word about NTB. One star for at least doing the job right– so far.
