The first of the public skateparks built in Arizona as part of the late 20th Century/early 21st Century renaissance of skateboarding. Though many might have preferred the underground nature of skating that had survived though the decades, the new parks brought retired skaters back to the parks and introduced transition skating to new generations of skateboarders. This park is still one of the best parks around because of the diversity of terrain and generally cool and welcoming vibe. The park is great for all ages and skill levels. Weekend mornings are especially nice for families.

This was probably a decent park when it was fresh. Today, the concrete is rough, the lack of coping is more frustrating than novel, and the transitions are inconsistent. This makes Chandler Skatepark challenging, but not a lot of fun.

Pretty huge skatepark. Love the fact that there is enough room to actually skate around. But it can be packed with skateboarders during the evening. There is a children’s play park literally next door, fun for all the kiddos.

Drove quite a ways to try this out with my son and his friend, but unfortunately left disappointed. The aerial photo on the Internet looked great(don’t they always), but when we arrived, there were a lot of leaves and garbage in the bowls, quite a bit of roughly patched and uneven concrete, along with some rough edges on some transitions. It does not seem as well maintained as it should be for the upscale area it is in. Goodyear skatepark is honestly much better, also obviously in a completely different part of the valley, but much smoother concrete, big smooth transitions, usually nice people and pretty clean. The only thing going for this seems to be the big volcano and pyramids in the middle that all of the scooter kids hang out on and do tricks from. They seem to love it, although my son and his friend are scooter kids and they weren’t real crazy about it.

Sooo. me and the boyfriend decided to take up skateboarding and we checked this park out over the weekend. We pulled up and i let out a sigh of relief when i saw all the younger kids(didn’t want to eat dirt in front of a bunch of pro’s). This place is nice .open till 10:30pm. lots of space and is good for a variety of ages. Older kids came as well and its nice because everyone just kinda hangs out together. Lots of bowls and rails. This will def have to be our weekend spot to get our practice on.

Chandler Skate Park at Snedigar Sportsplex has 35,000 square feet of concrete bowls, decks, blocks, and metal rails. My teens think this place is «sick», but watch out; it can get pretty crowded eve’s and weekends. There are also shaded ramadas and a small playground for non-skaters.

When this skate park opened in 2000, it was the première park in AZ, it was the biggest, nicest, newest place, designed by and for skaters(Site Design Group, same people who did the Flagstaff park, also excellent). i don’t think a park of this caliber had been built in phx yet now, with the ever-increasing popularity of extreme sports, several others parks have opened, and arguably surpassed the amazingness of this particular park. but it still remains a favorite. now the important stuff, lots of hand rails and two bowls(one is nine feet at the deep end and includes actual true vert– about one foot.). a fun box in the middle… and tons of other features. this park does not allow bikes. on a weekend morning it is PACKED with little kids, as young as 3 and 4, wobbling around and falling in the lines of the more experienced skaters. also be wary of younger kids whom aren’t familiar with skate park code of conduct(i.e., cutting in on a run, dippin gin to the bowl out of turn, staying out the way of faster skaters). all in all i think this is a nice, clean park, aside from the skate area. if you don’t actually skate, there are plenty of tables, BBQs and stuff to enjoy.
