History

Established in 1997.

First established as an acupuncture practice also doing chiropractic adjustments before there was a separate license for acupuncture in Iowa. Then Dr. Barnett branched out into other areas of naturopathic medicine, including conventional medicine — essentially integrative medicine.

Patients come primarily for an Integrative Medicine approach — The bulk of the medical practice is for hypothyroidism, especially Hashimoto Thyroiditis. The rest is mostly an integrative alternative to chiropractic for spine care, including decompression traction for herniated disc, spinal adjustments for problems detected through a combination of traditional Japanese medicine techniques, acupuncture, cool laser therapy on acupuncture points, blended with conventional neurology/​orthopedics. Dr. Barnett also provides an alternative to allergy shots by offering the same medicine as sublingual drops for environmental (air-​borne) allergens such as cat, tree, weed, grass, molds found in Arizona.
